TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V6 - Year of the Guard Dog SURVEY IN OP

this irks me the most, the circle is just a normal ass pin found on most japanese school uniform hats, there's no reason to take it off
the fact that they also denied the style is shitty as well, honestly not fond of them meddling with content like this
All my post said was that people went from rating me big whoop to funny now that it changed, I'm not the only person that had a problem with it. Did I talk to Valve? No. Am I glad they removed it? Yes. I love Jojo and I think it's ridiculous people could steal from Araki and make money off it.
it's a reference item in a videogame
made by people who love the series
it's not like they literally fucked araki's wife or something
The point of making the item was to never steal from Araki. It was to pay tribute to his works and the amount of influence they've had on people.
My goal was to never blatantly steal, just pay omage.
You seem to be confusing "stealing" and making "references."
If references to existing media/games/movies aren't allowed. I'd say there's a whole lot of cleaning up that TF2 needs done.
I don't know who you are considering there are multiple people that worked on it, but you were gonna line your pockets with his IP, so yeah. I'm glad enough people reported it though.
It's a reference item, there are plenty of those in Team Fortress 2, they have never been against the rules, nobody lines pockets in the TF2 community. A lot of these contributors make items because they love doing it. You're forgetting that they're creators as well, and content creators support eachother.
they removed the pins from that heavy hat because some anon in 4chan's /vg/ emailed eric about it
All of the workshop item names for the two items were almost direct references, the hat model was almost 1:1 to the media it was taken from. I've been playing this game since 2008 and I'm pretty sure there aren't any other items in TF2 that are that specific, the M. Bison hat is the only one that looks similar but it has a different emblem on the hat so it's fine.
Yeah. Could you imagine if something was 1: 1 with the source material?

I disagree, but nothing will change your mind. It seems like you've taken this a bit personal in some regard.
I don't even know who you are, how could it be personal? Also, I guarantee you multiple people complained, I mentioned it to my friends and they thought it was stupid too, so if I had a problem with it I'm sure others did as well.
What if Araki designed cosmetics for TF2?
so your opinion weights on at least a thousand of people then?
I doubt anyone other than you and your friends were upset over a JoJo reference being in the game. I'm pretty sure a lot of people who loved JoJo who saw this cosmetic freaked out and would've loved to get their hands on it.
I don't know, from what I understand this hat is a direct 1:1 copy from this Jojo anime. Both of those are clearly inspired by something but clearly different from what they're inspired by. I imagine if the pins were different on this hat Valve wouldn't have had to remove them. Who knows, maybe the author will submit a new version to Valve with different pins.
You say this but Valve removed it, so your points are moot. I don't think anyone who really cares about the series would want to see some random guy making money off of Araki's work.
As a JoJo fan myself I would've loved to see this completely fine in the game. The creator of the set himself is not making money off of Araki's works, as they said they were paying homage to the series and the creator. If we're going by your logic then we should remove/edit other items that are referencing/paying homage to other media properties from TF2.
Remove Pyro's taunt.
He does a hadouken.
I don't think valve should profit off Takashi Nishiyama.
Without the pins the hat is really generic.
I can think of quite a few hats that almost have that exact same shape.
Odd decision by valve to even accept it.
what the fuck, I just booted up TF2 after the update and...

??? Valve?
Araki wouldn't give two shits about some cosmetic item in a western game he's probably never heard about
like holy shit the dude's own series is full of references that are technically copywrite infringing outside of Japan
heavy is born from russia
i dont think valve should profit off putin himself
He is making money from his works though, also there aren't any other items in-game that were this extreme with their "references", or else they would have been removed at some point too. This one was removed within hours, that should signify to you how serious it was to Valve.

You're trying to take the piss but you 1:1'd intellectual property and are comparing it to a pompadour hairstyle lmao.

how can you not call this "extreme", the M being an E doesn't make it any less of a mario reference lol if anything it makes it even more obvious

Oh no. DC lost all of their money because of this item.
