not being into tf2 until very much later on just like the vast majority left
Does anyone here know what is "Canteen Crasher"? Can't seem to find any info about it, and the medals look nice
I have been into TF2 since October 2007. I have taken breaks for months but it is still one of my all time favorites, I am genuinely amazed people want random crits removed, I have always enjoyed them.
I'd like to see an expansion of the collection in War Paint form honestly.
This may interest you fellas:
ScrapTF sponsors TF2PL season 2 with $1,500 in "instant prizes"
it has not begun yet.
i only like random crits because im bad
I thought about a Gas Passer buff where the fire never ends unless you're healed, but with it, the new Axtinguisher would do infinite damage and might crash servers
whats the exchange rate from Facepunch Coins to Keys
3 refined
That much I have guessed. What is it though?
just found out that the closest thing I have to an SO is pro-crit
you think you know someone...
I reorganized my config and made a few additions, now my game looks like this:

Any fix? (config is most of comanglia's)
If you think the Holiday Punch is just a meme weapon, you've never had your uber stopped cold by one.

I kind of hate the new WYSIWYG FP editor. Are thumbnails not a thing anymore?
On CTF/TDM maps like 2Fort, Doublecross (and now Sawmill and Well!) I play like a complete prick. My teammates are my meat shields. I'll also avoid pursuing kills if I think I might die. This results in a fairly high KDR (~3.5:1 on skial 2fort) but an abysmally low KPM (0.45, but that includes endless hours as medic.)
When actually playing an objective based game mode (PL, CP, KOTH) it's a completely different story. Cart must be pooshed. Next time you'll bloody well ask before you stand on my point. On a Valve server I'll find the least retarded teammate I have and shove an uber up his ass.
I wish the TF2 Advanced Options told you what number you're on when messing with the RGB sliders.
I don't think I've ever been stopped by a Holiday Punch Heavy.
the console commands "hud_combattext_red", hud_combattext_green", "hud_combattext_blue" allow you to change the colors with whatever RGB numbers you want
I had no idea about that. I sent Eric an E-Mail asking if they could probably update the sliders to tell you what number you're on when using them.
Also I think the damage number sliders are the only ones in the Adv. Options to tell the default number for it
I think someone posted them a few pages ago when Exor asked about what new commands were added
I love you. I have much respect for that weapon, my pocket saved me so much from ubers with HP.
Random crits take a potentially interesting fight and turn it into an uninteresting one. Instead of players trying to outwit and outplay each other, one just dies to a 300 damage projectile/hitscan that they couldn't reasonably dodge. You're taking an encounter that could have had depth and turning it into an encounter where somebody just dies. That's not fun for the victor (unless the victor cares more about increased killcounts than actually, you know, playing the game and having satisfying fights), and not fun for the loser because they have to wait 20 seconds now for no reason.
When you die to normal attack, you can reflect and say "Hm, I made a mistake, I shouldn't have overextended/missed my shots/etc". You can use that information to improve. When you die to random crits it's just "Hm, I died to RNG, I shouldn't have...played TF2?" There's no way to improve your skill at the game to counter random crits because the game was never designed for players to HAVE a reasonably counterplay to random crits. You can't just dodge the heavy's 3x damage no falloff hitscan crits across the map because the gun was never designed to be dodgable at range (after all, it normally does negligible damage at range), it's essentially a big AOE that hits everything. You can't avoid a close range crocket, because it wasn't designed to be avoidable at that range. It was designed to be extremely easy to hit with splash, under the assumption that you'd be doing low damage unless you hit directs. Making splash damage an instakill makes it completely uncounterable, barring reflects.
Don't get me wrong, random crits exist for a reason. New players need to be able to feel that they're accomplishing something at some point. Even if random crits more often harm them than hurt them due to the damage affecting percentages, the difference between getting killed by a crocket and a 7k hour soldier barrelling through the map at a million miles an hour before they know what the hell is going on isn't big, and having them occasionally get a kill is going to be necessary to keep them playing. But I think there's a much healthier and more fun way to make sure new players feel like they're accomplishing something. New players shouldn't be in matches with 7k hour players to begin with. Players should be matched with people at skill levels reasonably close to their own. Killing newbies as an experienced player isn't fun and doesn't help you get better. It encourages players who have been playing the game for years to never try to improve further. Meanwhile it shits all over new players by putting them up against super advanced players before they've got a decent handle on simpler mechanics, so they get destroyed over and over creating the problem that crits try to band-aid fix.
If the new casual glicko system works well, random crits will be obsolete and I think the game will be a lot more fun for people at all skill levels.
