I think Valve went a little overboard on the DF nerf (it probably would have been fine with just the smaller fireball, not having to hit the center mass) but it probably did need a bit of a nerf, it was pretty good if you had decent projectile aim.
Yeah they just gotta make it so that the whole hitbox does the bonus damage, and fix any bugs. Do flares/crossbow bolts/arrows block the projectile like syringes?
DMG is fine when the 25 is a one-time pre-resquite rather than a "punishment", but as I said it's the new "pinpoint aim" shit that ruins it. Hitscan aim and projectile leading are opposites. you don't mix them together, what the shit is even that?
until valve sees the equip rates drop like a fly, I guess decent scouts are gonna enjoy getting bruised with 25s
Who would have thought that after 20 years of running multiplayer FPS games Valve's best game in terms of quality balances was a moba, and it's not even balanced by regular Valve devs, just IceFrog and his testing cabal+pros.
Anyone able to read console.log files? Have been suffering from seemingly random crashes and despite me wanting to think so, I don't think "Windows 10 PC trying to run a 2007 game bloated with 11 years worth of content" is the actual problem

The 500 missing custom particle files is definitely unusual, do you have any old mods?
My guess is probably some VSH files back when Quickplay existed. If that's the issue, i might just go for a clean install of the game.
Relatively certain that's normal. Those particle files do not exist and never have, I believe they're "loaded" for mods and custom maps so that people don't need to overwrite existing PCF files.
I'd back up the TF2 folder just in case. (more because I'm a bit of a data hoarder, keeping obscure mods/ around for archival is nice)

I am pretty certain that sharking is still around.
I don't think the DF is nearly as bad as it's being described as, you can still hit good Scouts if you aim your shots correctly, it just isn't entirely effortless as before anymore.
Maybe I'll change my opinion with the months coming but so far I haven't really had any issues getting the bonus damage on good players.
Anybody ever got a 'connection failed after 4 retries' when connecting occasionally to a competitive game? Or casual? This bug seems to occur only so often and I don't know how to fix it.
I remember that happening to me. Does the server browser work when that happens?
I actualy did run up to that twilight guy,i think it was one of his alts during a harvest match,i think he even had some bots with him on the server on his side too as they had the same name and avatar icon with just a diffirence in a letter.

A lot of the top traders do it and it's obvious but no one cares because it's a clique, check item histories of items that are owned by the top traders.
They will usually be just the trader and some random guy with nothing valuable in his inventory.

I used to shark but I generally gave games that were a bit less value than the item I was receiving. So like 1-2 key worth game for an item like a bill's hat that was worth 6. This is kinda unviable now that game trading is basically kill.

Interestingly enough MM seems to be way faster when less people should be queuing up for comp.
At prime times like 7 PM or 8 PM, matches appear to take roughly 40 minutes to an entire hour to find a game. Meanwhile at midnight, or 2 AM? Finds a match in 10, 20 minutes. I don't even know what could cause the matchmaker to act like that. Just seems strange.
It seems to fail when I attempt to. I usually play just Valve's Casual matchmaking but when I try to search for any community server, it takes ages to load them or just refuses to load.
Either server is too far from your location, or it just crashed.
I thought of a compromise for the locked settings in comp.
Firstly, go through all the non-cheat convars and unlock any that don't have a noticeable visual impact. (sound settings, loading stuff, threading etc.)
Add an option to have the config the game runs in comp have the lowest allowed settings. Right now it seems to default to medium/high settings.
That's weird. I would wonder if it waits to find better matches the more players that are available but with fewer players it just throws together whoever it can but even that doesn't make sense with placement matches.

Adding that hole was a pretty clever way to balance the map, just hope last isn't too blu sided now.
I dunno i still feel like mercenary park isn't exactly fun still.
Better for sure but still not really fun.
