TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V6 - Year of the Guard Dog SURVEY IN OP

we back with our own subforum AND classic responses
I missed you, informative rating
you really think the tf2 subforum can work without an optimistic rating
the worried looking sympathy emoji will cover 99% of that
quite frankly once custom emotes are in place we need the classic optimistic and the long needed pessimistic
spoiler alert: pessimistic is just a close-up of exor's heavy
the random crit debate got so heated that facepunch itself took a crit
I'm gonna miss Child Molester.
I'm glad we have a lot of options to select now... But I grow fond of Child Molester.
why'd they change the sympathy emote, it worked on multiple levels before but now it's just bland
I found that one a little bit over-the-top, tbh.
Disagreeing with or finding someone dumb is one thing, but straight-up calling them a child molester? That's some unnecessarily next-level shit.
it's not like you were actually calling them a child molester though, noone believed that people who got child molester ratings diddled kids, it's more of a correlation that child molesters are pretty dumb, therefore making the rating worked as a "dumb" rating
watch out kids for the kiddo diddler
it was also a good "that's odd/creepy/unsettling/disgusting/kinda hot" rating
at the risk of being called an SJW, I'm kinda uncomfortable with things like child sexual abuse being trivialized
it's not triggering or anything, but it came across in very bad taste to me and I'm glad it's gone
Yet the informative rating already had covered that until Garry thought it was a good idea to bloat up ratings with several redundant ones and removed the ones that mattered.
It's a discussion for the Meta threads, but this blatant stubborness is why nobody trusts Garry with an update that won't piss off or confuse everyone.
then the rating did it's job as being a rating for things other found in bad taste
what if posts could crit at random
and your critpost chance rises with every shitpost
The critpost ends up destroying the next poster's post .
a critpost jacks an entire page for itself
With every critpost, ASIC gets notified by email.
If custom emotes were to ever be a thing, I'd love that gibus one to make it in for the TF2 threads.
would be awesome if we could change existing ratings, say we replace winner with a team captain, dumb with a gibus, coin with a ref, diamond with a key etc
Fair warning, I am going to be closing this thread when I wake up tomorrow. Feel free to create threads on the topics you're discussing in here. We're trying to encourage people to spread out more, be liberal with the thread creation button. Don't group everything into one thread!
The intricacies of the new flamethrower mechanics have been found, the major bugs are:
Damage ramp up is negated on targets when the hitboxes pass through them (as usual) and collide with level geometry. This is because the Flamethrowers now check for contact and damage calcs via the oldest flame particle active. This means that when a single flame hitbox at the end of the stream hits a wall and has its damage halved, all the particles remove their ramp up and stay at half damage, even with perfect tracking. This new damage calculation logic may lead to an overall DPS decrease as well, as the oldest flame particle active is
also receiving general damage drop off.
Flame mojo exists again. The damage of your flamethrower will now fluctuate wildly with differences in ping. That’s a huge fucking problem.
At point blank range, Pyro’s damage ramp is buggy and prone to resetting (for no reason).

what's wrong with a genchat thread?
imo a genchat is still needed, even if we bring back MUS
not everything we might want to talk about is worth its own thread
first you kill MUS and now you kill SS, whats's next, the entire valve subforum?
not every subject is worth its own thread
Making the random crit nitpicking thread was only the beginning, my god.
Honestly though, TF2 has too much trash and discussions change all the time. It's why people congregate here to chip in on discussions.
Creating a thread for every little thing people talk about per game would make the games section a complete mess.
nobody believed me when I said flames were now reverted to their old selves lmao
If anything, having too many threads about a single game would just make it difficult to navigate the Games category to find a thread about less talked-about games as they'd get buried under the popular discussion instead. Sure that kind happened with the old Gaming subforum but all talk about a singular game was quarantined within its own General thread so it was still manageable to sift through, with certain games getting their own subforums to segregate them from the rest.
Closing general chats and throwing everything into GGC will make it really hard to browse GCC, to broaden your horizons and look at new things, the goal of this change.
Changing how threads and subforums work after a decade+ (don't know if it was always the same) of stability is unfortunate.
