Is it bad taste to apply pro killstreak sheens to civilian grade weapons?
Although a permanent ban is heavy-handed (although that's what garry does), imagine if you were subscribed to the forum, and you get 51 notifications of threads, with a 80% of them being shitposts: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1823/6bde1a28-c838-44af-a194-b8cecae27478/image.png I feel like the forums are changing way too fast and feel too forced. A lot of what I'm going to say pretty much deserves to be said on {{Meta}}, but although closing this thread is a really controversial move, and I understand the motive, the change shouldn't just happen in just a day and the threads should naturally settle themselves, because people are going to naturally do kneejerk reactions to this sudden change. Indeed, some of the content that was posted here, such as funny screencaps and videos from reddit should've been put in their own, respective threads, which should be one of the good things that this change brings, but understandably for a lot of users, it feels like being kicked out of their home, instead of having them move out of their home (I hope this analogy is understandable). Some users from this same thread were also starting to create their own threads, like the TF2 Random Crit debate thread, and I was even about to do a thread about TF2 Custom Gamemodes, too. Thankfully the TF2 Emporium thread isn't getting closed, because I genuinely believe that's one of the staple TF2 Facepunch threads, to the point that if it was affected by these changes, they should be under a grandfather's clause or even have its own subforum.
Who cares what grade the weapons are, what matters is if you like how they look or not
wait a minute does this mean we get Major Update Speculation back?
Can someone make the new thread? "Major Update Speculation V38: A New Beginning"
I want weapon rebalance discussion back. Also, how is the competitive rank calculated? Is the outcome of a match the only factor, or is the individual performance (score, kd ratio) also relevant?
Uses Glicko. Personal performance seems to be rather important, with you being a deadweight costing you more MMR than you being good in the case of losing.
it’s been a long while since I last played TF2, what ever happened to rd_asteroid?
Lost in space.
Pure Glicko doesn't account personal performance. However, we don't know which exactly variation of it is used in CS:GO and TF2.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glicko_rating_system
Beta Maps (Cactus Canyon, Asteroid) were pretty much discontinued when Meet Your Match replaced Quickplay with the Casual and Competitive Queue. They're now in complete development limbo.
that’s very dissapointing to hear! I was incredibly pumped for asteroid, I really liked the gamemode and the whole space aesthetic
Oh I know. However just like in CS the big boi MMR bringer is that MVP award it appears that medals give you a bunch
Looks like Glicko-2 accounts personal performance in a given game. http://www.glicko.net/glicko/glicko2.pdf
Looks like ever since Competitive queue times were fixed, it's gotten a higher player peak. Right now there's 177 players playing Competitive with the highest peak in 7 days having 211 players: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1823/9ac04ffc-6b63-4733-9bcd-3a0b6f450b85/image.png Hopefully this gets even more people to play it.
Generally a +/- MMR system for wins/losses can account for personal performance indirectly. People can consistently climb in these systems if they're good enough to be a major factor towards winning in their games in relation to who they play with/against. I've climbed from Bronze -> Diamond in Overwatch and 1.5k -> 3k in dota 2 after I managed to get good enough to have a consistent performance that would win me games.
Boy I just love it when the other team has a hacker and defends them. Buncha cowards.
I've reported accounts for hack and said accounts have been vac banned. if you encounter a hacker in casual, flag the profile and abandon the match (if its casual then you're really missing that much anyway). asking the other team to ban them is usually pointless. If you think its hard in the US servers where everyone speaks english, imagine doing that in SA where most of the time you're playing with brazilians and most of them don't understand neither spanish nor english.
Hope all those permabans will get reconsidered, this thread will be noticeably slower now.
In roughly 20 minutes the frog hunt event on the facepunch server will start, join now to secure yourself a spot! steam://connect/188.165.207.20:27024 The Password is LILYPAD
They're not permabans, most users could still browse the threads so they seem at most to be timeouts. I imagine they'll all be back by the end of today.
thanks everyone for attending, was fun
Comp now has 176 people in game according to teamwork.tf.
https://i.imgur.com/scVYrLQ.png really wish valve would make a server announcement that the queue is fixed now
As good as it feels to see a hacker actually get kicked, nothing compares to BEATING a hacker through sheer teamwork. I had a match on Goldrush once where the attacking team had an aimbotting Sniper they refused to kick. They more or less rolled to the first point, we held them at that corner for a few minutes, but it basically all came down to the final point soon after. Once it was made clear that they were keeping him on their team, everyone got on their mics and started coordinating. We held that final cap for easily 20 minutes; there was a small cadre of Engineers all defending each other's nests, Pyros were hunting Spies and extinguishing people, Medics were holding the corner with Uber, and you even had some attempts to counter-snipe the hacker by way of Jarate (so even if they took you out, the splash damage from a rocket would put him out of commission the second he stepped out of cover). Nearly a half hour later, we beat them and the aimbotter was the FIRST to leave the server. And THEN we all reported him
scrap tf doesn't have an objector, does anyone know of any automated trade website that does have one?
I just find it really nice when I/my group of friends stumble into a game where both teams have some obvious aimbotting sniper, the whole server starts picking up on it, votekicks roll out and in a rather short amount of time all of the hackers are out and everybody thanks each other in the chat. It's just such a nice moment. But when coming across those ragehacking guys, like the MLP pony named guy (yes I forgot his name) I just leave the server the moment I notice they're there, or nowadays I requeue, and just tell people to leave the server because he can apparently just avoid the votekick. And honestly, I suggest you guys do the same. If your game gets a ragehacking bastard or your team is getting absolutely demolished by a cheater and they're not getting kicked, just leave. Don't stay and get angry and upset at everybody, it's not worth it. Just leave/requeue and tell everybody on the server to do the same, ruining your day is pretty much their only goal and the best move is to ignore it.
I'll give you one if you want.
Finally finished my placements, got Contract Killer 3.
If the hacker is obvious and the people don't kick him, report the people defending him as well. Your an accomplise if you actively defend a blatent cheater and just as guilty. I know it's not much, and they can make new accounts if they actually do get hit. But hopefully it'll teach them a leason in perhaps if they do get a ban out of it.
