TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V6 - Year of the Guard Dog SURVEY IN OP

I usually study while waiting for comp matches. It really takes a lot of time to find a match (especially if we exclude matches that don't start due to someone not joining in time)
I played a lot of comp matches, but for some reason there are times when the game tells me a competitive match has been found (either in-game or in the main menu) and inexplicably the game freezes when i click "Join" (or press J).
When it happens i kill the process, open TF2 again and then it's a 50% possibility of going through the "ad-hoc connections only" limbo to get a MM ban afterwards, or a 50% possibility that nobody happens as if i never got matched in a competitive game.
This has never happened in casual or mvm, why?
I just got a 24 hours ban now. Something i noticed is that abandoning before the game starts doesn't lower your MMR.
Yeah this competitive thing is ridiculous, I've managed to play a grand total of about 12 games, having queued up for about 4 hours per night for about 5 days straight. I first queued on the day it was supposedly fixed, and it worked there, but since then it hasn't got me into more than 1 game per day.
Apparently everyones still crashing presumably thanks to their stupid graphics restrictions (which includes fucking MOTION BLUR by the way) which I still have not seen a single person support, so why it's still there is anyones guess. Why do they care more about sticking to their guns than actually making the mode work? The devs are completely out of touch with what the community cares about.
I posted before that I was happy with the new matchmaking but now that it's been a few days again and I've adjusted to the elation of 'oh my god I actually found a game' it's still just as broken and garbage as it was before
You can disable motion blur in the settings, guess they forgot to whitelist it like they forgot to whitelist game brightness from MyM to Smissmas '16.
Lifting the graphic restrictions would really be smiting two flies with a single hit;
You not only solve some abandoner issues but also make the mode more attractive to low-end players so it will also raise the playernumbers.
MIght not have been the TF team's decision. Wish they would tell us if so.
I'd be perfectly fine with just phong, rimlight, bumpmaps, and specular enforced. Comp also resets my volume which is annoying.
So the CTF intel glitch is still a thing, where the intel for no explicable reason upon resetting will bury itself underground and refuse to reset to its origin.
Had to leave a match where it happened for both sides on a Valve server so we couldn't finish the match.
feelin like doing another tour of duty so i can be disappointed with the drops again
I found this thing in the files, it was given out as a promo code to people who bought a 3A companion cube at the 2012 San Diego Comic Con.

...Alright?
Just bizarre, so many items are unobtainable or were only obtainable at one place.
So some scammer added me today

at least show some effort that youre scamming by making your inventory private and not have the actual guy's steam inventory pasted

the game doesn't do his filthiness (or single tooth) justice
still, he's my friend
The items are technically still "obtainable" since you can trade for them, and a lot of people own them since TF2 items were a big craze in the early 2010's. For example, there are an insane amount of genuine first/second-wave hats because so many people bought the TF2 action figures. A lot of people also only bought the Portal 2 OST for the Genuine Ap-Sap.
Didn't know it was an actual toy. The TF wiki says that the booth attendants signed the merch, and the face models for Cave and Caroline were there signing in costume.

why does this thing have a big ol robo dick between its legs.
Also why does it have any of the qualities that it has and why does it exist? I understand the idea of a companion cube novelty item, but a semi-flattened gross filthy cube with a face and legs...is this a reference to something? What gives?
they're just a line of figures that 3A makes, except that one has a companion cube skin on it

What are your guys honest opinion of Blue Moon cosmetics? Do they fit the artstyle or go against it?
Aside from Maggot Muncher just being a better Compatriot, all of the cosmetics are really nice. The Jojo fiasco was a bit silly, and the jacket that was given to heavy as part of the set kind of looks weird (as do most cosmetics that have to deal with his abnormally long arms), but the more I'm getting into Jojo, the more I enjoy the item itself. One of the few cosmetic cases where no item really sticks out to me as something I'd be vehemently opposed to adding into the game.
I'd be more mad about the maggot muncher existing if you couldn't equip it with the compatriot for a double eagle combo, but since you can I give it a pass
How do they look together? Do they end up as a patriotic clipping monstrosity or does it actually look good?
Absolutely spectacular.
Many items were ones people wanted for a while, and also fit the theme like the veteran 's attire or demo bomb vest #3.
The only exception was obviously the robin walkers, but come on, they're adorable and somewhat iconic.
Valve needs to do more of these "popular yet fitting submissions" cosmetic cases, and keep the pastel/unicorn stuff behind pyrovision.
How flamethrower damage rampup works, source
Every ~0.075 sec (we will call it a "tick") it is checked if any flame particle released by a certain player exists inside a foe. If so then it does deal damage.
First tick deals original (maximum) damage.
Second tick deals 50% of original (minimum) damage.
During a certain period of time (from 1 to 2(!) sec) damage per tick is being increased (not 100% sure if lineary).
For some reason it ramps up very slowly at point blank.
After this original (maximum) damage is acquired and is maintained until accidentally Pyro looks any direction other than one where his victim is on for a split second.
Or releases MOUSE1 (for a split second as well). It seems that a single flame (not tick!) being missed causes heavy damage drop - right to 50% again
And in the comments:
I noticed something weird using host_timscale. You can miss multiple particles without the ramp up resetting but when the missed particles expire it seems to cause you to do one tick for ~4 damage before instantly going back to fully ramped dps. If you miss too many or a tick it does fully reset the ramp up though.
As long as flamethrowers actually take aim to use I don't really mind If they buff the damage up a little bit.
I don't want JI pyro back.
I really dont.

They all screech in unison, deafening the enemy team before they're destroyed by his missiles of pure patriotism.
God bless America.
The lights can be any intensity and color. Big proof is the maps having completely different lighting.
