I'm a comp player and I'm rank 5 lol. All the comp games I played with friends we literally fucked around, rank is meaningless, It's meaningless in CSGO and It's sure as hell meaningless in TF2.
Rank doesn't define player skill.
TIL that Nathan Vetterlein been paid ~$30,000 (over 10 years) by Valve for being the Scout voice actor. This doesn't count any money he's made on his own doing appearances or whatever.
Also, today in no one GAF, the 1000th kill on my ScoRes was on Nathan, on his server:

Anyone remember thumbnails? I remember thumbnails.
Pretty much agree 100% with all Fluury points.
Some people already are jumping ship on Valve MM, while that is dumb It's not going to get 15,000 players in 2 weeks, and it's not going to have perfect matches in two weeks. Competitive TF2 is something that is a gradual process
that doesn't just take a month. 3rd party Competitive shouldn't also bend over to Valve's format, because they are different things and should stay so.
One thing that I can say for certain is that if we want to let the game flourish, we have to try out at least a few matches of Valve MM. Valve will also get valuable data for balancing from the gameplay.
He's a really great and humble guy, I love him.

Sadly Valve will never ever change any of their economies to the benefit of the people who participate in them. (also the thumbnail is a bit obnoxious sorry)

a man i can respect
"ooh my god it's face melting! ITS FACE MELTING!"
~$30,000 over 10 years seems incredibly low for how much of a money-maker TF2 is.
Afterburn damage ticks reset the cooldown on Heavy food items (if this isn't just a custom hud issue)

As someone who rarely trades I feel like I'm okay with the how War Paints and skins are. I mean sure not everyone is gonna enjoy getting a battle scarred or well-worn versions of a skin they want to buy or that there are some skins that aren't that interesting, but still I enjoy the customization you can do with them.
Nathan said he's paid by the hour (and quite well at that) when he records, and nothing the rest of the time. There are no bonuses or residuals. Yes, the total amount is worth less than gaben's pocket lint but this is Valve we're talking about. The used to make games and now they make money. On his stream Nathan said he wasn't unhappy with his pay (he has a full time job) and that he was grateful to Valve for employing him. He also said Valve wanted him to do a voice for a Dota2 character and he didn't largely because of personal reasons. That's a shame, because I suspect he'd do a great imp or goblin (I know fuck all about Dota lore.)
Made a Gas Passer rebalance with a bit with the weapon's issue and the balance goal like the team does now.
The Gas Passer's issue is that it's too much work for little reward. It's area denial capabilities are less then stickybombs, a sentry, or a Heavy, and it takes a minute and/or 750 damage to charge.
Goal: Make the gas effect more powerful and threatening to strengthen its area denial
-The gas's ten seconds of afterburn stacks with other afterburn sources, not in damage, but time. Shooting enemies coated in gas with other weapons will still give ten seconds, but flamethrowers will do 13-20 seconds, flares/burning arrows/the Huo-Long will give 17.5, and the Cow Mangler will give 16.
Depends on the type of skin it is for the well-damaged qualities, I'm a big fan of the hazard warning being through hell and back.
imo, the biggest problem with war paints right now is the lack of a in-depth editor for them and the really basic support we have now to make them. It's pretty much on Valve's hands and pre-existing skins on whether or not we can design our skins and how they'll look in-game such as fixed rotations, editable vmts, etc.
Skins that also have two layers and, because of that, have unique patterns in more worn qualities, are skins that I'm a big fan of, like the bone skin that has bone marrow/blood underneath it.
so you know how sydney and axtinguisher have "special ability names" thingies? I think that's a decent clue about dota devs temporarily working on tf2
Dota is balanced extremely well, every hero was used last International I believe. If Dota devs are working on TF2, I'm glad.
Nature's call could also just be a piss joke made by a regular TF2 dev
So I'm having some trouble trying to fix this new ToonHUD edit that I'm doing and right now the scoreboard looks like this:
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/213180/19b29400-3107-4363-a7d0-5dee4f9e133a/image.png
along with that I don't know what primary/secondary font the friends list uses. Can anyone help with this?
gabe suddenly turns off dota after 30 000k hrs and instead goes sniper on 2fort

rest of Valve, watching on from safety behind the line:
"we must follow the leader, no matter the circumstances"
For a buff I'm thinking maybe the auto timer recharges 20% faster (but the timer resets on death).
In addition to it's current stat of damage lighting people on fire any damage from a fire source causes mini-crit damage (so it combos better with the flame thrower).
Honestly I like the concept of the weapon and with some buffs it could work well as a defensive weapon, but right now I would rather use any other pyro secondary than the Gas Passer.
Stupid idea, but what if the Gas Passer was a melee weapon? M1 is a low-damaging attack and m2 acts as the GP does currently, but it doesn't makes that slot unavailable while the weapon recharges.
how is that useful next to your actual melee?
What do you guys feel about having The Liberty Launcher having increased launch power, as to be a tool to help combo-ing with the Reserve Shooter?
Too exploitable?
I feel like that will make it the worst weapon in the game.
People will just surf their way into safety.
Also, the panic attack does the Reserve Shooter's job better imo.
I think it'd be better to have its damage reduced to maybe around 15%. Dunno what else to do to improve the weapon though.
So you fucked around and thus got a shitty rank; Wow, really surprising. Just seems to show me that the rank system works.
If you by full intention fuck around and then are surprised when getting a shitty rank then I don't know what to tell you.
He has a point honestly, I don't have the slightest clue how you'd price a mid-high-tier skin properly. There are too many of them for backpack.tf to tag, and even the steam market might not have your specific flavor available to go off.
Case in point: I have a strange nutcracker mk2 bazaar bargain (minimal wear). Say I wanna sell it. There are currently none up for sale on the steam market, the history graph has only like 5 data points over the last year which flail wildly between 0.50€ and 3€, and of course backpack.tf doesn't bother with skins. What do I put it up for? And what if I don't have a shitty "common" skin like this and it actually matters? What if I'm selling an unusual skin that's so unique nothing remotely similar to it has ever been on the steam market? I can't even turn to anyone for an estimation because there's so many factors to take into account with these things. There are no unusual tiers for skins like there are for hats because you'd have to put them into some kind of 4D array or something to get the interactions of all permutations covered.
I mean this isn't really "hard to sell", this is straight up "nonexistent items as far as the economy is concerned", which is worrying since Valve has a monopoly on skins now of sorts. You want a skinned gun, you better open up some crates. You don't want a skinned gun anymore, you can go stick it up your bum I guess. Or just kinda sell it for whatever and hope you're not ripping yourself off.
/that, and he never said skins were bad as a whole. dude c'mon watch the thing
afterburn(and its duration) as a debuff its pretty weak considering how many counters can nullify it instantly.
the gas passer is a really stupid concept as it is now. it doesnt do anything that any other secondary wouldn't benefit you more. compared to other grande-like weapons like the jarate or mad milk its even more useless because the debuff applied to enemies wont really give you any advantage in 1v1, specially when you can already apply said afetrburn with your primary weapon in a far more deadly way.
Personally, for me it feels as if the Gas Passer was only really created to fill the void that nerfing overall afterburn duration left. I could see how it seems like a good weapon on paper, but it's nearly useless in actual gameplay. If you started with a full gas passer rather than having to fill it up the first time, I could see it at least having a more helpful role, but other than that there's only so much you can do with the gas passer's concept without making it completely overpowered or completely underpowered.
the joke is even bigger when you consider that even if the gaspasser shared the same recharge rate as the jarate and was refilled on respawn/cabinets i'd still be useless.
Theorycrafting: What if it was switched to the primary slot AND you started with a full charge? Maybe you could pick up a new charge with medium- or large-sized ammo boxes?
