They actually updated it on March 30 with this, seems like they use it for testing +"TF_spr18_punks_pomp" "Test" +"[english]TF_spr18_punks_pomp" "Punk's Pomp"
I would still like to see two potential changes made to the team comp bit at the top of the screen if possible. First one being that it organizes the characters at the top of the screen that all like classes are side by side if possible. Not much use in highlander as there will always be one of each class, but in everything else it would effectively make it look a lot cleaner IMO and easier ( and more importantly quicker ) to understand what your team actual has. The other thing I'd like to see is it list medic's uber percentage some how for your medics... That there would probably be extraordinarily helpful I would think. Not having to find or look at the medic to see where he's at when you can just see it listed at the top of the screen.
Doesn't it show your medic's uber % in green on the top bar (at least in comp?)
Think that's health, and it goes from green to yellow to red at low health, with blue for overheal. They have everyone on a team organized by class on the selection screen, would make seeing team comp in the match hud a lot easier. Balance idea, the Quick Fix megaheal rate is affected by recent damage and crit heals. (does the QF even follow the damage/crit heal rules with the faster heal rate?)
That's health... Speaking of that, Over healed characters in that look more like they took damage then they actually have the over heal effect... Their health gets a grey portion in it, at least on my screen. Would be nice if it was more along the lines of Blue section to indicate overheal.
So the tf2 official (meme) subreddit now has a new head moderator. Guess who it is.
It's weird I played a comp game earlier today where the medic has a green % number by their name but it could have just been the HUD glitching out.
Ya know. I very much enjoy Valve's structure. As much as i want L4D3 and other such games from their awesome franchises, I think it's good with where it's at. Say what you want, but i dont necessarily think Valve #1 directive is making money. I'm sure it's up there, but i dont think it's main priority. Companies like Activision or Disney, where it is #1 focus, keep pumping out their franchise products, as, ya know, people want them. But im glad valve isnt run like that. i'm happy we dont have "Left4Dead 17; Black Ops", or "Portal 5, Dead Robots Tell no Tales" yes they could make a lot more money out of these franchises than what they do right now, but they choose not to. they choose to focus leaving things for the future generations to use in development, or new innovative games the freshen up a game genre. They dont sully a franchise by milking it till it's dead and making it a hallow shell that future generations wont think much about, instead, valve keeps the integrity of it's IPs. I'm excited for the new Dota Cardgame, and the other neat future things they will bring to us, like Source 2, or who knows what else. I'm glad they spend time on TF2, and the direction they are taking it, and im glad it's only full of passionate people. I know TF2 doesnt seem like it gets a lot of love compared to other games, but to that i just keep in mind TF2 is only one of valve's babies. A lot more people are dedicated to Counter Strike and Dota, and as such they have more people to facilitate that. Who knows, maybe im completely wrong and their number one priority is making money rather than leaving an impact, but if that is so, they are doing it in quite a style i like. Just thought i'd share something i felt to hopefully uplift ya'll. I know things can seem dark, but i dont feel there is a lot of good to be seen shining from this company, even if it seems trivial that it's a gaming/software company. The research and time i've put into looking at valve has always had me coming back to the company as an example of how not everything has to be the same as all the rest. Not everything is complete loom and gloom selfishness. ~love ya'll
Valve is a trend chaser and money-grubbing company just like any other company. The only reason they don't produce more games is because Gabe is interested in the future of gaming as a whole, which is why Valve tried their hands at an all-in-one Steam Machine with unique tech specifications, and why they're now focusing solely on VR. Valve is only different because Gabe himself understands that talent comes from talented people, not solely chasing trends and pumping out as much content as you can, not to mention Artifact is literally just a cash grab for trading card games, there's nothing else to it. Optimism is fine, but you're heading straight into blind optimism and you're very close to being apologist for a company, which isn't a good thing.
I feel like if it was it's foremost goal rather than quality products, we would see more milking. You can say they are trend chasers and money grubby on equal par to every other company, but i disagree. Things like Assasins Creed, Star Wars, Simpsons, Friday the 13th, Opera, Family Guy, Pirates of the Caribbean, Call of Duty, Things like Metal Gear Survive, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 are examples of companies that are money-grubby and trend chasing. You want to tell me they dont make loads of cash? Milking a franchise gets you money with no to little consequence. Even if the later products suck, like all the ones i mentioned, yet still rake in the cash because of the IP. I just wouldn't go and say your opinion of what you think someone else's motivations is, are the facts, as you are not them. And like i said before, even if they are concerned with profits only and none other, they aren't like other companies. They are very different in how they do it, which i for one very like how they do it. Also i dont like that spin people do on valve's structure. TF2 being the state it was in. If it wasn't for valve's structure, TF2 would have never received it's free updates it did. Microsoft was against it (as they were a different business structure) and forbid Valve from not charging for each update. So they moved on, and that is why we have orange box TF2 the way it is. A golden sign of how other company structures were before Valve rocked the boat. but i guess that just like my opinion, as im not Valve itself. so who knows maybe im completely wrong; i just havent seen much evidence to say otherwise, as my experiences differ from yours.
Artifact was in dev before hearthstone released and they got the mtg designer on board. Not rreally a trend chaser in full context.
While the new community catch up vnn made is decent i cant help but wonder why have such a clickbaity title for a map that only appears for about a minute on the whole video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAx8tTNBaCg
Maybe i should rephrase my statement for better understanding, as i can see how my comment can come off as an overzealous fanboy; I just want to express my how much joy i have from seeing a company understand that success doesnt equate with quick sales and cruddy low quality exploits of IPs, as well as Valve's structure in general. It makes me happy seeing something go against a lot of what other company standards. It gives me a light that there is things in the world that dont have to go and ruin creative works of art, be that Videos, World Building, or Video games. To me that means a lot, as growing up, it was very discouraging to ever see a good creative work not be beaten to death. To me, the things Valve made are things that younger self of me super loves, and was always looking for, and it brings me much joy, as well as knowing there are other people who also love thier products, or at very least TF2, that we can come together and talk about that. That brings me a lot of happiness :p
nah dude, artifart is card game not shut game, card game isnt real game, unlike shoot game, thus artifart is not game I want valve sux >:( only good thing artifart will bring is tf2 promos
you mean like, relevant?
Valve exported the tf_pirate file once and added it into the files during an update. it was a simple mistake, yet people went bonkers about it and it generated some traffic everywhere.
Oh man, LazyPurple's videos are amazing.
Just finished playing a competitive match on turbine. Our bot scout capped the intel 2 times. We lost anyway though
I know it's a joke, but all new promos go to DotA2 and have been for a while now, but depending on who you may ask, it might be either a good or a bad thing.
nothing wrong with bots #endthebothate
It's Wicked "If the International can be decided by rng, so can your pub match" "TF2 doesn't need optimizing, replace your plastic shitbug" "Why the fuck are you blaming the father" Player
Maybe the way to fix ctf and pl for comp is to re-add civvies as bots whose only goal is to stay alive and run the objective. Then we can get that good moba money.
I was once a r/tf2 reader. Back then, wickedplayer seemed like nothing more than a jolly newsperson on the sub. Then I moved over to Facepunch after getting tired of constant memes and accidentally visited Drop Dead Threads of Oldpunch. Needless to say, I felt enlightened after learning the truth.
The guy went on "strike" from CSGO updates because someone beat him to posting them once. He would post noteless update posts in r/dota2 to beat SirBelvedere, the guy who does Dota 2 patchnotes.
Because it gets more general audience attention to Journey to the East, Hugs.tf, and the TF2 workshop. Just watch this overall view count and compare it to the Campaign Crasher video view count.
You know what I feel is a missed opportunity? Not giving the Hot Hand some sort of a Shoryuken killtaunt. The Hadouken is fine and does its job, but I'd probably equip the Hot Hand more often if it just meant being able to show a flaming uppercut thing in someone's killcam.
the only missed opportunity is having decent stats
Now now, I like the idea of a Pyro uppercut tauntkill.
I remember someone doing an edited Shoryuken taunt for Pyro a long time ago as a mod, though that was 8 years ago.
Was called a hacker for the first time in a very long time lol... Went sniper to deal with heavy + medic combos on the last part of a payload map and while sniping a disguised spy bumped into a scout right in my point of view of my Shooting Star zoomed in and fired due to reaction, landing a headshot while he was cloaked. Was accused imminently right after and a few more points till the end of the match. Everyone else on both teams was telling him to screw off lol. I got a couple of good shots that round but didn't really do anything special. Best other shot was killing two medics with one shot. Kind of a simple solution... What if successful kills with it gave a movement speed buff that lasted till the Pyro died? Sort of like the the Eyelander in a sense, except it's on a relatively weak melee weapon instead. Shooting for a big risk but big reward like perk to it... Would that be too much?
