Swapping weapons without respawning will also keep the active effects of Soda Popper hype, all Soldier banners, and Phlog crits, but not Heatmaker focus or Carbine Crikey minicrits
I never liked the Enforcer or OG DR though? Stop projecting all your problems with Spy mains on me and come up with some new jokes.
Technically it does slow, but it doesn't scale with base movespeed. Anything faster than 225 HU/s is slowed to that amount. So it's most effective against Scouts, and least effective against Heavies (reducing their base movespeed of 230 by a meager 5 HU/s). Strangely enough, the "fixed" behaviour is still present against Bots. Also, do you have a source other than the TF2Wiki that claims a max range ball should completely immobilize the target? I don't believe it was ever mentioned by the TFTeam, so I would assume the ball is simply meant to slow at all ranges, with duration being the only variable that changes with distance.
Not anything outside the wiki, but from last i saw on the patch notes, it was stating that it would no longer disable attacking, but still keep the slow effect; So i really dont know if it's intentional or not. Makes me sad if it is supposed to be that way, makes it like nearly completely useless, especially if the ball pickup is no longer intended to be picked up. It feels like there isnt much of a reason to ever use it now. Maybe they can up the damage? idk at this point.

Yeah, it's a real shame isn't it? TF2 will never be the same without everyone's favorite cheapo stun stick.
It takes like no effort to stop being a dick to someone when they told you to stop, you know that, right?
It's probably for the best to accept people globally don't like being dropped because they can't shoot in two directions at once. So move on.
That doesn't mean people need to constantly take shots at me about their grievances with the Spy class? I haven't argued with anyone about Spy in weeks, if not months. I'm not even doing it now, I'm just fucking irritated that Metaru had to bring me up, be a dick about it, and continue being a dick about it after I made it clear it wasn't cool. It's tiring to repeatedly have people bring me up or take shots at me personally when they're upset about something or another about Spy. "But Contra it's a joke!" But fuck you. You joke with friends, and most of you aren't my friends. Make jabs at me when we're actually talking, don't fire off a gun in an empty room for no reason.
update the backscatter so scout can fire from his back, with the downside that he can only fire from his back
Meh, don't be upset about it, people are like that here. It always makes me laugh how people complain here "Sniper needs a nerf because I can't counter it".
They're just taking the piss, it's not necessarily an insult towards you as far as I have seen. People have taken the piss out of other people, like Fluury and Lord Exor, in this very same thread, but it's all assumed to be in good fun and not necessarily attacks against them. Nobody here assumes that you're their friend, but you should at least not assume the worst out of people thinking they're latching onto the "spy main" in a negative way whenever something "broken" about the class is brought up - it's all in good fun. Those two pictures were not a representation of how "broken" the Spy class is (as he's considered to be weak), just a humorous representation of the Diamondback in its current state and he just wanted to bring you up because simply it would be humorous (the same way people @ Hezzy in the Random Crit Discussion Thread to ban ASIC), or because maybe people would like to hear what you'd like to say about it since this is a forum. It is a funny picture, after all, and we could all bear to laugh at it together rather than have it divide us, don't you think?
For the past 10 days or so i played a lot on Delfy's "FUN" server. As some of you already know, it has 32 players most of the time. I also happened to be interested in TF2's optimization, why? because i'm a computer geek. So i fired up MSI afterburner and took a look at the CPU, RAM, GPU Usage. I noticed that the game sometimes dips to as low as 41 FPS when both teams are engaging at the spawn area of Balloon_Race (Yeah i know, horrible map). Thing is, NONE of my components were a bottleneck. My Ryzen 5 1600 (OC'ed to 3.6GHz) was barely utilized, the first core was ~60%, second and third were ~30% and the rest between 10% and 0%. Then there was my GTX 1050 Ti, the highest it could go was 30%. RAM at ~4GB. Has this happened to you guys? And why do these drops happen if my system isn't the problem? Has someone looked this up? We could easily say it's the source engine, but that's well capable of utilizing hardware (AFAIK) not just in TF2 but in CS:GO and other games aswell. Note: I don't have a problem with TF2's performance. I'm well over 140 FPS on most normal matches. I just got curious at the time that's why i did these tests.
yeah I don't die to them since I main spy, why can't the whole playerbase also main spy, what a bunch of crybabies :downs:
Yeah, nerf sniper and buff pyro am I right? Let's nerf all the classes that takes skill and make the game more like overwatch
what a nuanced view at balance this is
Just following the logic of these forums.
I know this was said days ago but this is a misrepresentation of what I said, I said 99%, not bottom feeders but it's not even really relevant tbh. The point I was making is that you can't tangibly say top level players can deal with a max level heavy because that just can't happen as the class is limited by the rules. it's honestly NOT a case of potato players, it's a case of class compositions. When it comes to 6s, a lot of classes have multiplicative effects instead of additive, what I mean by that is that 2 heavies compared to 1, has a much larger difference than say 2 soldiers instead of 1. These classes have stuff that I like to call make or break scenarios. For example, 2 scouts doesn't really do anything in terms of extra possibilities when defending, whereas having 2 demos for instance, in a world where there are usually 2 choke points and a tertiary cramped route, means that you go from having one choke on lock, to having all the chokes on lock, which is a massive difference, the difference between being able to deal with it, and it becoming almost impossible to deal with. The heavy make or break scenario is basically as follows there's a loss condition for any given push where if a heavy is alive after your uber ends and he gets to actually start being a threat again you just run out of steam because usually the heavy does more damage and is super easy to tank with arrows. 1 heavy is basically a road bump, the attempt is basically to have 450 hp + arrows + sandvich you can probably get about 550-600 hp out of a single heavy, it usually means it requires at least 2 people to knock out the heavy. all you really have to do is know that you can only do so much damage with an uber, and if you have say 2 heavies and a pyro it becomes impossible to use the uber offensively because you just don't have enough ammo. It's basically unsolvable. The more people you put in an uber the shorter it is, if you spend time going for a pick on the heavy you're losing adv%, if you take a heavy in you're slowing down the fight which favours the defenders and worsens your uber. If you assume the defenders actually have uber and don't drop the heavy, there is no counterplay apart from using a sniper or spy to pick him first, which can be really difficult if he never peeks, which he won't, because he knows his team wins if he doesn't. Essentially, all the classes that have this multiply effect usually get limited to 1, because these things are essentially impossible to play around. TF2 has a shit ton of defensive options that are hugely overpowered when used in tandem. There are loads of these scenarios that you literally can't solve in a non-whitelist world, let alone with no class limits. It has nothing to do with being bad, it has everything to do with numbers and the fact that tf2 at its core highly rewards defensive play. The fact that you don't see heavies and engis and pyros all that often has nothing to do with their actual power level, all it means is that nobody in the current sphere wants to play in a world where the game degenerates into 2 teams in safe places on opposite sides of a choke, which is what would happen if there were no limits on class/weapons. You cannot fundamentally argue that heavy is bad at top level tf2, because if the gamerules allowed it, he would be played way more often. If you want to talk about pubs or whatever that's your business I don't know shit about pubs, I'm just trying to dispel a really common and really illogical argument I see get made countless times
I'm pretty sure this is because the version of the source engine TF2 is currently on isn't great at either off-loading work to the GPU or other threads/cores on a CPU
I hope they start working on Game optimization after they're done balancing weapons and fixing competitive mode.
done balancing weapons
I mean if they don't add any more weapons after the Heavy pack theoretically they should eventually finish balancing
Caber. Scottish Resisstance. The Red-Tape Recorder The Southern Hospitality The Warrior's Spirit The Persian Persuader Just to name a few that really needs to be re-balanced.
Honestly at this point they'd be better off trying to port it to at least the CS:GO source version but I understand that would be a colossal task so I don't see it ever happening. The best we're going to get is little fixes I think which are still more than appreciated
I just hope they work on MvM a little more, It still makes them cash from tickets
TF2 runs on Source 2013, mostly the same as CSGO (besides threading, Jill even updated the main Source sdk with new stuff from TF2) it's the sheer amount of cosmetics and skin textures and particle effects (TF2 is the only Valve gsme that lets you switch cosmetics on the fly in game, might have something to do with performance)

revert the warriors spirit back to -20 max hp and add a speed boost on hit stat like the eviction notice has but can never get use of so heavy can close the gap and really take advantage of the damage bonus, the warrior's spirit used to be my favorite heavy melee until valve decided to nerf it even though it was already universally underpowered and I'm still sitting on my almost 1500 kills strange warriors spirit waiting for it to become useful again please valve
what? I use WS all the time, it's my favorite heavy melee since they removed the stupid health penalty.
if they haven't done it in 10 years then they aren't going to do it with the years remaining.
