My point is you can do it consistently now.
Because of the JI pyro, I was legit considering to quit TF2.
just as you could before... the flames boxes only went wild at the very edge of the flamer range which is not the range you should stick to and lead enemies from.
The entire point was that they fixed flames LOOKING like they did something entirely different than what they actually do. Now it's intuitive and you don't have to research how flames actually work because now you can see it.
the irony is you can't see through the new opaque graphics lol
if you cant see through the 50x50 png that is the flame sprite you might need to undergo an eye test
Also you can bind viewmodel_fov -1 to set it to the lowest value and hide your flames I've set it to q if I feel like hiding my viewmodels
It's not the resolution of the sprite that's the problem.
how could you gauge your attack without seeing it?
I don't know, how were people able to lead their flames pre JI?
Are you comparing a total absence of feedback with the old flames?
Yes. Because that's what it was.
Same way as pre-JI, get used to how the flames work to the point where the visuals aren't necessary the sprites still don't match 100% (mostly for whether lingering flames are still lingering) so it's nice to get used to just the feel of the hitboxes
Yes...if I choose to equip it. If I don't like the playstyle or feel like something else would be more effective for the circumstance, I can switch to a different gun. Isn't that the entire point of having other weapons? To open up new playstyles? Hell, going with the whole Spytech theme and the class itself, shouldn't Spy have a ton of different gadgets befitting different situations and playstyles? Most Spy weapons significantly change how the class is played, each filling a different niche. What does adding this playstyle take away from the Spy class? Anyways, Spy is often played very passively in competitive. If you constantly run in for backstabs you get predictable and punished frequently, often without getting the kill at all. Because of this, many Spies will play a more passive style with Cloak and Dagger behind enemy lines, tracking enemy positioning and uber advantages- the darts in this situation could supplement that. Additionally, this weapon wouldn't get in the way of Spy making his own picks. He still has...a knife, invisibility and disguises. It may encourage a more team-reliant playstyle, but there's no reason for the Spy not to seize openings when he notices them, as even passive Spies do in high-level play.
Would really like them to fix the flame sprite stuttering when you use the flamethrowe when moving, and sometimes the spite will completely bug out and stretch.
I fear this is just a case of "you sucked" because there really isn't anything else to add especially toward your bullheadedness. I main pyro for 10+ years and I can assure you the quirks of the old flamers weren't as apocalyptic as some youtubers likely led you to believe.
I sucked yet I don't throw a hissy fit over not being able to see through particles? ok
The new flame opaqueness is a very very common complaint since ji. did that fact suddenly vanish to suit your zingers?
Didn't know you main Pyro, waiting 591 days (JI time plus Blue Moon) for the flamethrower to stay pretty much the same iyo is really shitty
Yes you could learn to aim the old flames, but first you had to learn to ignore the visible flames conspiring against you. There was no overlap between what you saw and what was actually happening. No useful feedback whatsoever.
tbh when a Pyro is coming at me while spamming his flamthrower, I can't see shit, not even the pyro, just the flames.
Okay- Why do we want to complement a passive playstyle?
I mained Pyro for 10+ years but I didn't really give a crap. TF2 is an unbalanced mess, and it's been that way for those 10+ years. Expecting a miracle out of the blue is just naive.
It worked like a near perfect reference though. some people make it sound like those flames were a complete lie that had zero purpose and might aswell have been invisible which isn't true. Regardless, all these posts just to say that the march28 flames are delayed the exact same way as before and we're essentially back to square 0 on "fixing pyro".
"Anyways, Spy is often played very passively in competitive. If you constantly run in for backstabs you get predictable and punished frequently, often without getting the kill at all. Uh, no It's not.
yeah you did post many times during the previous years on how you play tf2 just for laughs and to make "people mad" and have otherwise little interest about the wellbeing or depth of the game. I know who you are.
I have tons of interest in the well being and depth. I play competitive on and off, both highlander and 6s, mostly pugs though. But unlike others I don't have absurdly high expectations when Valve can't even decide on what they want Pyro to be.
The fuck do you mean, "no it's not"? Cloak and Dagger is popular in Highlander (esp on Payload Defense and KOTH), and the de facto watch of choice in 6s since Spy is usually pulled out for a well-timed pick/backcap on last. Do I need to grab demos of Spies playing like this in Silver and Plat for you? Spy certainly isn't played aggressively, especially not after the Amby/DR nerf, because that just fucking gets you killed. To provide Spy with options besides running in and dying while still being useful to his team? It's an option, dude. It's an option I'm proposing specifically because of my competitive experience, where I know a weapon like that would serve as a great tool for me to coordinate with my team. It probably wouldn't be very useful in pubs, but it doesn't really need to be- you have the other guns for that.
I'm in the opposite side of things where I find them just as easy to mow down unless there's like more then one pyro present. The flames make them easier to notice from a distance that they're coming as well.
I mean you can see them coming but it might be a problem when you have to accurately shoot the pyro when there's flames all over the place masking the pyro
