TF2 General Chat and Speculation Station V6 - Year of the Guard Dog SURVEY IN OP

Was talking with friend on voice and he asked me why do I keep calling The Classic "a new sniper rifle".
I just realized myself, that It's 5 years old already.
you could tell me the classic came out in 2013 and I'd believe you
the weapon has been useless ever since its debut, so it's reached the point in my head where I Know It Exists, but also know it's not important enough to learn anything more than that
I love using the classic only because nobody ever expects it
Oh my bad.
classic does have that niche that it has the fastest charge rate and is thus technically the best heavy killer
I thought Huntsman had the fastest charge speed out of Sniper's primary weapons?
Classic is a really fun weapon to use tho, If you can aim. Ofcourse, It's a meme weapon, but it pisses off sniper mains when you countersnipe them with the classic.
I've heard that Valve has said they won't change the Classic because they want it to keep acting like the TFC sniper rifle
How are some players able to move to the door before the countdown timer ends in casual mode? I'm always stuck in place and even for a few seconds after the timer ends.
You gotta switch your weapons, and then you'll be able to move before the countdown timer ends.
err no it is the same as stock.
hunts is still the best anti heavy without preparation
so roughly less then half of the kills with that thing were headshots? impresive.
it is but unironically, with how the gun works you can't really finish people off with headshots, you have to open up with a headshot and then finish off with a bodyshot else you just kinda die
I remember back in day you could shoot a scout in mid air in the dick with amby and it would be a headshot
Thanks, I like to think I have good aim.
tbh I wish it counted headshots that weren't finishers, because as Drury pointed out, you'll often open fights with headshots and finish people off with bodyshots
Well I'm talking real guns and not string and stick.
In practice though two uncharged headshots with most any other rifle will kill a heavy while punishing you for missing far less, with a negligible increase in time it takes. Plus, if the heavy sees you and heads for cover over the 3 second charge time you can't just cut your losses and grab a sub-optimal headshot for 250 damage or whatever. If the heavy ducks into cover over that relatively long time window, you're completely SOL with the classic.
The classic has one, mediocre, niche. If you play very defensively you can sit your ass on the defending backline, charge up all the way, and be able to snap that 450 damage to any bastard that enters your LOS. It can theoretically oneshot anybody very quickly regardless of which route they take, but punishes you extremely heavily for missing. If you're a really consistent sniper and you find yourself in a really defensive situation I can see the appeal, though missing out on all quickscopes is a pretty fucking huge downside. You're countered real heavily by scouts and enemy snipers.
uncharged headshots are absolutely dogshit against a heavy with a medic up his ass

What crosshair is this? I've never seen anything like it.
Literally nobody mentioned uncharged headshots specifically against a heavy with a medic up his ass.
I don't know why but the "hold down m1 to charge the shot" thing on Classic makes me feel the charge is slower than the other rifles
You can't even let go the mouse once it finishes charging so my finger eventually starts to hurt if I use it for too long
I wish it was click once to start charging and click again to fire. The hold down to charge gets super annoying over time.
If valve was smart, players would be assigned to a random class on the team they already automatically join, so there would be no opportunity for spectating outside death, and therefore able to be kicked.
Yeah but if a heavy has a medic up his ass why are you switching to the sniper rifle that's really, really bad at killing medics? Yeah you could one-shot the heavy one second faster than stock would, but you have to give up being able to actually kill the medic, which is usually more important anyway and is kind of the sniper's job. It's not like the other rifles can't oneshot overhealed heavies either, they just do it 1 second slower. I'd say on the whole you're way better off with stock if heavy is getting pocketed. Classic's only kind of useful if you stand around waiting for the enemies to come to you, and they funnel in slow enough that you can charge up shots between their arrivals. And you're good enough to not miss any shots, because the Classic punishes you for missing so hard.
Oooh, I just noticed If you crit with bread jarate or bread milk, the bread monster is twice bigger.
That's really cool, I love the bread items, they have amazing inspect animations aswell
They were fun for a while, but once the context the Expiration Date launch was gone and the novelty was worn off all I was left with was heavy wearing mittens made out of rotten bread.
Dota 2 just added sprays and a taunt that uses the Mannrobics music
no thanks, using an arrow is 10x better in this scenario of yours where you start off at 0 charge.
Kinda crazy TF2 is the last of the big 3 Valve multiplayer games to get paid for sprays.
I'm guessing we'll see them in the next big update.
Switch weapons.
