I liked the autobalance that I saw on a community server where it mixes every player at the end of the match instead of single person swapping team mid round, since it didnt feel like my efforts were being wasted and the teams were actually balanced instead of just making it 12v12 But that was on a 24/7 turbine server so I'm not really sure how that could be applied to the current casual system
That's actually Team Scramble, not auto-balance. They already have a Team Scramble option and I don't think anyone would have an issue if it kicked in at the end of a match instead of the middle.
no wonder you're playing alone.
Talk about an overreaction: Autobalance isnt this strong, it's the same as before. If you are upset about not being allowed to stomp you probably deserve it in a way, even though I do agree I liked the old system more. As far as the rest goes, that just entirely depends on how many reports are needed, which will be interesting to see.
Now that autobalance is fully back, I'm curious what they intend to do with the greyed out keep parties on the same team option.
Guess you're a guy who loves to have fun being put on the losing team whenever you're doing good lol
ladies and gentlemen, the first instance of a game-fixing bug
Valve's Github moderator got a message from the TF team saying they fixed the server-side issue causing people to be kicked with the message "removed from match by system".
Why? Is it because of voting great?
Good idea. @Geel
epic zinger I play casual to have fun, and itll be annoying to get auto balanced when I try to do wacky shit with a friend, but when I play solo I wont get angry to have an ounce of a challenge in casual
The problem is that you're only doing good because the losing team isn't having any fun, since the teams are unbalanced. The general idea of autobalance is to make everyone's match more worthwhile at the expense of swapping one or two people and denting their fun. It's not perfect, but it's better to have it than not.
I guess you're someone who has more fun when the teams are stacked and there's no challenge at all?
Why are you people talking about challange and whatnot? Do you realize that you will get autobalanced for example in a game 10v12 to make it 11v11 even though your team is losing, etc? It's not about who is doing good or bad, It's about to even the teams. Even If It's a stalemate, whenever someone fucking leaves you're gonna get autobalanced. I don't mind being put on a team that is getting destroyed. I mind being autobalanced for no fucking reason just because someone on the other team left. Jesus christ
it kinda sorta already does

With the glicko system it'll autobalance whoever will result in the most balanced teams, it'll just prioritise player count over glicko of each team. As before, it's evidently not perfect but it's better for a majority of situations.
Why does comp have bots but casual doesnt? if someone ragequits at least give the team a meat shield until someone decides to/is forced to switch or someone else joins the server.
Will fix ASAP. Please post in our refunds forum to receive a refund.
The glicko system in casual was a mistake. Players with a higher casual rank like myself and my friends i play with, always end up in tryhardy games with the same people, where it's either roll or get rolled, with any new players that happen to be on the server being crushed underfoot. So i made an alt to test this, and sure enough, mostly potato fields for servers. MM in casual is a good theory, so long as there's an equal skill distribution and a rational bell curve. But there isn't. There's no mid-level players anymore to make games balanced, just veterans like us, and fresh install players because there's essentially no real tutorial or things like class choice hints or coaching.
Oh damn! You're the MVP! Thanks a lot.
That's one hell of a placebo effect. Glicko in Casual matters, but not to the point where you meet the same people and have "super tryhard games" over and over again. New players play more with new players, but "high rank games" still have a decent amount of mid-low players to even shite out - that's atleast how I felt it. It improved Casual by a lot given you have atleast 30% less pablo.gonzalez in your server, but acting like there is no middle ground... really?
I really liked when the auto balance asked people to change first then forced a change. I wish they would have kept that system.
Must have been a very low percentage of people who actually used it though that they removed it.
It kinda already does that. It'll ask the opposite team if they'd like to change for an XP boost. If everyone says NO, then it'll force an autobalance on one unlucky individual similar to quickplay.
I used it every time. I like being on the losing team and bringing it back to victory. Plus those extra points are very nice.
They changed it in the patch yesterday.
Just realized, since we can't volunteer to switch teams anymore, does that mean you can't get the bonus points anymore?
I don't remember, didn't you get the XP anyway if you got autobalanced?
It still gives you the points.
