About scammers... I just got added by this guy https://steamcommunity.com/id/plusmacc/
Advertising his new "roulette site" called tf2join(dot)com, offering me a payment to put their site name into my steam name.
Rather easily, the third Google search result gave me a link to a discussion calling it out. https://steamcommunity.com/app/440/discussions/0/1696048786955891393/
What's this?

It's in TF2 Personal Game Data -> Matchmaking overview
Your competitive elo.
Your casual exp.

Just to add on, the "something" for is the visual rank you are given in competitive matchmaking. So with the value being 7 on that image that should be Executioner 1 iirc.
50/50. I have seen just one person wearing the dueling hat, and he told me "it took me around 70-80 duels won in a single day". The amount of effort for something like that is astounding, yet it lacks substance and "bragging rights" for more than a single day.
Shitting the topic to dueling itself: its a flawed mechanic. Assists counts as a point (Medic is understandable, but you can do a single pistol bullet to your Dueler (?) and receive a point if an enemy scores the kill). Afterburn offers you an advantage if your opponent isn't Pyro/DDS Sniper. Some maps are designed for you to win (Dustbowl or anything with chokes IF you are RED), others are unplayable due to the requisit of ending the match (get out ctf ((but who still plays that gamemode)). Random crits also offer you an advange/disadvantage. Etc,. I'll admit there is something fun about seeing your number going up and the badge changing colors, but that is. I'm doing this more as a personal challenge more than anything else at this point.
Long story short: Duels are poorly implemented and relies on luck and hard focus more than anything else. If you want to brag on the internet, go on. If you can, avoid them, because they aren't worth the time and effort.
PS: Don't duel or accept duels from Snipers.
Getting 5 flare gun kills in one life is so impossible
why did i pick that contract months ago
I once had 52 flare gun killstreak in casual.
Probaably the most fun Pyro weapons you can combine with degreaser.
I did it on 2fort by camping near our spawn to make sure I wouldn't drop the streak, way more effective than anything I tried before it
Apparently standing on top of a dispenser now doubles the amount of metal you are dispensed. Not really an issue but it is a relatively new behavior
How can something like that even happen?
Kind of a minor bug, but when your razorback respawns after losing it to a backstab. It appearently doesn't show up on the sniper in the lower left corner for whatever reason. I was curious as to why it was still absent even though I had stayed alive for well long enough for it to respawn.

IIRC secondary backpacks don't show up on that model unless you have it active. For example the soldier banners don't show up there unless you actually have them out.
Your right, Razorback doesn't show... Darwin Danger Shield and Cozy Camper on the other hand do...

Hmmm...that's a bit of a stumper. Nice that the impact is purely visual, but still odd nonetheless. Wasn't the Razorback bugged for a bit post-JI? As in it wasn't show up on people at all after it respawned? Might be related but I can't say for certain.
It took 52 kills (and like another 50 on Degreaser), but it worked
There is also the Platinum tier duel badge, which looks nearly identical to the primeval warrior badge.
So, looks like the flamethrower's Pyrovision and halloween green flames are still broken and invisible in DX8, spamming the console with missing particle errors.
I had to recently reinstall TF2 and noticed that stuff still hasn't been fixed, which was pretty great on Full Moon with my favourite flamethrower that had the green flames spell on it. I've had to use the "Old Style Flamethrower Flames" for a pretty long time just because this hasn't been fixed since JI launched and luckily, it does seem to work on Valve's servers.
It's kind of annoying to know the community is capable and very willing to fix up a lot of stuff, yet Valve screwed them over by disabling mods on their servers.
There are a bunch of CS:GO and other case opening websites, that give you some free cash each day. You can use this cash to open their cases. The thing is that these sites don't allow you to withdraw stuff, unless you have made a minimum deposit.
So my guess is that in his case, that thing provides the excuse as to why they need trading cards.
It isn't really a good excuse either, as if they have wallet cash they could buy stuff by theirself.
Will do.
All the matches I've played on Competitive Mode today has had a lot of people with ranks, which means that all of the matches gave or removed MMR, so for those who were annoyed at getting "Match Won: +0 MMR" at the end of a ranked match should be pretty pleased right now.
Also posting so agrastiOs's message appears.
Streamer Anomaly was playing TF2 and spent 16.85 Euros on cosmetics and hats worth 2.66 refined.

Christ just had the worst match of TF2 that I've had since 2016.
Literal team full of vegetables vs a stacked team full of soldiers, pocket medics and demos.
I had 5 scouts on defense, spreadshotting and running away, demos just standing still spamming, pyros just running in holding M2.
Like sure I've had plenty of bad matches and stacked matches. But I've always had one or two competent players on my team so it's not a complete steamroll.
But my god today takes the cake, legit all 11 members of my team were either 6 year old or it's their first time playing an fps.
that wont be the case if eu btfos lootboxes, especially not with valve
I personally dont think they'll ever be deleted either
haven't read this thread in a couple days, but still want to respond to a couple posts
right after MyM I played casual every day for like 3 months then a bit around christmas, haven't played the game at all in 2017 until jungle inferno, honestly it isn't that hard, I got tier 2 around level 120 now, it's fairly easy if you play a lot
this is a pretty common scam, there is an easy base for a betting site that looks legit that everyone can use, all you need is a domain, someone will make a site and start adding people, sometimes claiming to be an admin who can make you win, he shows you proof of it, asks you to see the next round and tells you who will win, then says he wants you to be there and he will make you win for a cut for your winnings so it won't look suspicious, when all he really wants from you is to deposit your skins and then you won't see him again, it's known as the fake gambling site scam
other sites will allow you to bet for free and will always make you win expensive skins but require you to deposit first, you deposit the minimal amount and you won't get anything in return
the problem here is that many "legit" gambling sites do the same so bots won't take everything they got, and so they won't easily run out of cheap skins, so the best thing to do is ignore them, but if you really want to do it, at least google the domain, look for any discussion about it, search for it on scam advisor, pay special notice to the registration date of the website, check if the registrar and the server are in two different countries, check if the host is in russia or something, and most importantly check if there are any other domains operating on the same server and check if those are also gambling sites, if it has only been up for a few days or months, if there is no discussion about it and if any of the other points are true, it's almost 100% a scam
This has been happening to me a lot more frequently in Casual lately. It seems the "behind the scenes" matchmaker thinks it's balancing the game by granting me potatoes and friendlies, while the enemy team has all the decent players.
I'm pretty sure its safe to assume that anyone who randomly adds you to start a one sided conversation is a scam
Lagbots are now called "decoy (number)" apparently.
4 out of 5 of my matches ended with the last message in the chat reading:
*DEAD* decoy 9 : Thanks for playing! Crashbots hosted by gay retard | t.me/nullifiedcat
Valve, please fix.
Next time your in that position play holy diver or kill'em all n the background and you'll mop the entire enemy team regardless of their skill.
Jill commented on this github bug about the command r_screenoverlay 0:
Maps and plugins use this command to clear any overlays on players. However, some server owner is forcing a file download called 0.vmt to:
C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\download\materials
Having a file with the name 0 in that location makes r_screenoverlay 0 point to that location.
Jill's response:
r_screenoverlay off is the proper (magic, undocumented) command to clear an overlay. I will alias 0 to off for a future update, as that is the usual convention for source commands/convars.
Well If I had to guess the devs probably shrunk the range of the original dispenser ammunition function and added a new one, in this case its possible that the original box was attached to the top of the dispenser and dragged over it so when they shrunk it it defaulted to the point on top of the dispenser but your guess is as good as mine.
