I'm well aware of this, but for all we know this patch note includes server-side fixes maybe, gotta try it out alright
what I meant was that you can't fix it with just software changes
I know, but what I meant is that patch notes arent limited to software changes, atleast for tf2
tf2 server client is probably due for a security overhaul, or at least for a good revision of its infraestructure.
So as it turns out switching weapons super quickly will boot ya off the server :V https://youtu.be/ecHv97PcKHU As someone with a scrollwheel where you can disable the click and who often does that to pass some time, this is kinda heartbreaking and probably in need of a fix eh?
You have to use a script.
you need to be using the crosshair switcher/diff viewmodel fovs etc
I open the game to find this. https://i.imgur.com/kDK4OPI.png I didn't even know they could be found like this.
They were added to the drop list recently.
Which sort of defeats the point of the contract challenges.
The contracts are still a guaranteed way to get them, compared to being at the mercy of the random drop system.
good riddance
Contracts would be fine if they were for every weapon because there weren't random drops (as sort of a tutorial for that weapon) and you didn't need to get every bonus objective to unlock the next contract. With the contracts only being for Pyro weapons (besides the second banana) it just made the issue of overpowered pyros even worse during Jungle Inferno since so many people were playing Pyro to unlock those weapons.
The solution to this is pretty simple. Similar to how your game list and game hours are now hidden by default on steam, the "Join Game" link on a player's profile should also be hidden by default.
Doesn't solve anything. Even when Streamers had the no-name HUD, twats would simply DDOS every gameserver that currently played the map for a bit, check the stream if it was theirs, and then move on till they get their server.
Who is going to that extent to DDOS streamers, and why?
Nope, it also shows the ip for valve servers Also the second question is quite redundant - all we need to know is that they're to actively try and kill TF2, by making servers lag/crash (not anymore i guess) and by killing it's already small twitch viewerbase, by making all tf2-streamers not stream the game
We live in a day and age where people do shit just because they can. They don't even need a reason any more they do it because it's "fun".
So, is this like a group of people doing it? How do you know that is their motivation?
Isn't it quite obvious? Like, let me ask you instead, why do you think they were lagging and crashing the servers and ddossing streamers (so that they eventually give up and stop doing it)?
I don't know why they are doing it, and I do not think I have enough information to accurately guess their motivation. It's possible it's some kind of "EPIC PRANK BRO XDDD" thing, like what Kitt Stargazer was saying. I think VNN said that there is a group doing it to advertise their cheats, but doesn't really make sense. In the case that they do want TF2 streamers to stop streaming, the next question would be "why do they want that to happen?".
There is no big plan behind this, these are simply people that want to get a reaction out of people. Asking several cheaters just reveals that the primary motivation is "xd fun"
Isn't spending your free time online/behind the computer with the aim of DDOSing twitch streamers and/or servers of a game you gave up on just the saddest thing ever? These people manage to be sad, unadjusted, asocial, sociopathic weirdos even behind the veil of anonymity and lack of social anxiety that the Internet offers.
Personally here's how I see it. They do this sorta thing cuz there's no real punishment, the only punishment they receive is wasting their own time. If they get vac'd they just create another account and continue, no cash being burned out of their wallet for the frivolous pleasure of ruining someone's time. There are a lot of people out there that just seek the excitement of being "that guy" that is untouchable, anything to get a rise out of someone at the end of the day. And honestly it's a sad waste of time, I actually used to know one person who used cheats in TF2 religiously. Stating he lost interest in the game years ago and only continued to play it because it was the best option to piss people off via cheating. It's free, has a flow of new players constantly and has a high skill ceiling. Perfect game to truly piss someone off, and he relished in that... Safe to say I made sure his main account got vac'd, said maybe Valve just traced his alts to his main when it was me who reported him with links to his alts.
Yeah, but it's telling of where the whole internet culture is going. At least a decade or two ago, people argued online fiercely over topics that actually mattered. Or they trolled in a clever way to expose folks with extreme views and such. Now, you've got these generations of neckbeard nerds and kids that don't really stand for anything or do anything clever or complex to send a message or gain money or whatever, it's just some petty, immature need to stir shit, harass and ruin other people's online experience. With social media, Twitch/Youtube and so on, these shitty little sociopaths are more common than ever, and more toxic than ever.
It was exactly the same back then.
Do you guys F E E L like the summer update could drop next week?
the best case scenario is another medium update like the one we got on march 28
It is impossible to know when we'll get an update, they do what they want, when they want.
Back then we had SOME kind of idea of when to expect shit given past rituals, but we have reached the state where the TF Team clearly has shown that they dont give a shit about those anymore (Both in the negative sense, with the 500 day update wait, and the positive one, with Blue Moon coming out in Spring.) Obviously releasing NOTHING over summer is a very stupid idea, so I'm somewhat confident that we'll get something sooner or later. Not like Jungle Inferno was supposed to launch outside of Summer, either.
