Reading the hundreds of articles (and even that's being conservative given the amount of trivia you seem to be expecting) on the TF2 wiki IS an astronomical task. Your whole "everybody who doesn't study TF2 trivia for hours and hours is so lazy and dumb" shtick comes across as incredibly elitist. I mean shit you're complaining about people making an effort to aim their flamethrowers. In a first person shooter where basically every other weapon in this game, and this GENRE of games requires you to do that. The "spaz out your flamethrower" crap is super unintuitive, bordering on exploit. It's not easily found on the wiki even if you're looking for information on the flamethrower, and for 10 years the flamethrower did not have this behavior at all. Expecting everybody to know about it is just dumb.
I can understand them not knowing to look up something like how flame particles work and what not. But I find that people don't seem to understand quite often that should follow under common sense as well. I really wish people would at least put in some effort to get at least a basic idea on something new before jumping in but it feels that a lot of people other there can't even be bothered with that. I guess I'm just old fashioned lol.
Then they wonder why people vote kick them out of matches off and blame the toxic community for it lol.
Just turn crits into mini-crits (except for Kritzkrieg). Killing is important and forgiving but not so important and forgiving that designing a stat around being able to deal three times the damage without any input besides being lucky or aiming at the head with certain guns is just wholly unbalanced. Hell, turn mini-crits into 1.75* or 2* base damage.
That would require a lot more balancing than just changing crits/mini-crit on one weapon.
It would probably end up breaking something as well.
Did I say it wouldn't? We'd still have a healthier game than keeping random crits and so many weapons that grant crits.
An external website/program for a server owner to get money by playing ads through the motd page. Every few rounds, one would pop up and would need to be watched before closing. Sometimes they played in the background and were obnoxiously loud. They played during the game session, so a good chunk of setup or even the match itself could be taken up by the ad. It would've been less annoying if the servers had a designated "pinion" period where the ads played without cutting into actual matches. As it was, though, your team's push could be completely negated by the server deciding that your charged medic hasn't had enough ad breaks yet.
I know what pinion was, but what was that thing they had called Pinion pot of gold?
I always used to notice it, even if I tried to click through the ads fast.
Does anyone think something is going to happen this week? It's been over a month since the last patch, and Valentine's Day is coming up. I'd like for Valve to finally prove wrong the notion that Q1 major updates will never happen, but that's just my optimistic side coming out. There are too many unbalanced weapons for Valve to just wait half a year-a year to release balance changes.

JI did take care of a lot of weapons, seems the most egregiously unbalanced ones in comp left are the throwables, drinkables, fos, disciplinary action, soda popper, sydney sleeper and machina, quick-fix and vacc, and the wrangler and short circuit. Hope they give the last direct upgrade, the third degree, a nerf as well. Sadly I doubt we'll get more frequent rebalances unless the reception of JI made TF more attractive to work on at Valve.

Third Degree a direct upgrade over what, the Stock Axe? If that's the case they could just delete it from the game and save themselves some trouble, since there's literally zero reason to use the stock axe as is. Also, Amputator in that sense is also a direct upgrade as well.
I believe the Quick-Fix is only seen as a problem in 6's last I checked isn't it?
While I know people will probably hate me for this. But I honestly think the Power Jack on Pyro could use a real downside to it... They could flat outright remove all the perks of the weapon except the movement speed and it'd still be of the best melee options for Pyro. The downside is pretty much nonexistent lol.
Powerjack, GRU, and Escape Plan fall into the "melee weapons that do the same thing but in different contexts and could really use either completely different stats or exactly the same stats" subgroup, in that they all basically do the same thing, give low speed classes more speed, but at the expense of being easier to kill, and it's always bugged me that they not only do the "easier to kill" aspect in different ways, they also are basically the only type of utility melee weapon to exist besides the Solemn Vow and Soldier's whip (which IMO is one of the most well designed melee weapons in the game's history). I'd think it'd really be moving in the right direction for the TF Team, or what exists of it, to either unify their stats, or spread them out a bit more, but of course this is all IMO and just a weird tiny thing that's always bugged me. I also really think melee weapons should be designed completely around the utility design aspect (though the current melee weapons designed around damage primarily are fine as they are, except maybe the Eyelander), there's a lot of potential.
With the silent nerf to the Quick Fix introduced with JI (slower uber build rate on overhealed patients) the QF is all but useless in pubs. Presumably it still makes 6s players cry. I am unsure what else Valve could do to it to make it not broken in 6v6.
With how long it took to finally get the escape plan that we have now (being separate from the equalizer AND taking mini crits) i wouldnt hold my breath for melee changes.
Stock melee weapons definitely need an overhaul.

flush it and rebuild it into a fast healer but a shitty uber without a bajilion gimmicks
In nearly 10,000 hours of TF2, I have played exactly zero comp. It is my understanding that the fast heal rate is the main reason it is banned in 6s.
If Quick-Fix were given an actually slower charge rate (than stock uber) than a faster one, it'd be fine. Teams could then actually switch to Kritzkrieg at a mild disadvantage and still roll. Quick-Fix should then be given a slightly faster heal rate and a greater effect upon ubercharge.
flush it and rebuild it into a fast healer but a shitty uber without a bajilion gimmicks
That's pretty much what is is besides the uber being basically normal uber except you can die to heavies/pyros and crits. And afaik the only gimmick (besides the match patient speed moved to all mediguns) is the jump mirroring, which I assume was added to match the theme of "speed" with the weapon.
Fast Healer but shitty uber/overheal was its original design and frankly, it was garbage and not even worth using.

From what I've heard, it charges fast, QF rollout is only countered by QF rollout, and uber isn't much worse than stock uber.

from what i understand it was like a raffle thing, dont remember anything other than that
I found a video from the creator of probe that gives some insight about it.

since valentines day is coming real soon, and we have a matchmaking overhaul in the works, does that mean we can hope for a "match made in heaven" update again?
Fun fact, it doesn't. All the items it shows you don't even exist. We just make it up.
So I guess i'd have to buy it to find out how effective it is?

Uh, no, of course we don't. It's Valve.

It isn't elitist or unreasonable to expect that people will research their topics of interest in detail, or at the very least maintain tabs on them. Why bother engaging with a hobby at all then?

Something will deffo happen on Monday; they'll disable Jungle Inferno, Smissmas Cases and answer a few questions we had:
Are Pyroland contracts a permanent addition or will they be turned into drops?
Is the Campaign pass permanently activable?
As far as the rest goes given after ending Jungle Inferno and with that the Smissmas Cases( The War Paint Case is tied to Jungle Inferno) I'd also expect another Crate/Case and some healthy bug fixes.
Valentines and the like never gave us anything special, so I wouldnt expect anything big.

Nothing special you say? It has the word special in the title--twice even!--so I think you're wrong.
Also, Sandvich was nerfed.

Some people just play the game casually and aren't interested in doing a bunch of homework about it. To them it's not a topic of interest or even a hobby, it's just something fun to do. There's nothing surprising or unreasonable about this.
The thing is that in some of these cases all you have to do is read the item description.
Playing some Degroot again for contracts, and the melee hit detection makes me both laugh and cry at the same time...
Do melee hitscan attacks have prioritizing teammates over enemies coded in? 'Cause whenever a bunch of people pile onto a CP on that map, I've always felt like melee attacks made against an enemy standing right in front of me fail to register several times in a row as long as there's a teammate or two trying to do the same next to me.
Then you get situtions where 3 people on RED can't hit one guy on BLU while he melees them down one by one, because apparently the game goes ''whoah there, you didn't hit the enemy right in front of you, you actually hit a teammate standing 2 feet away to the side''. 1v1 melee hits are generally consistent and predictable, throw in a teammate or two and it's the most unreliable toss-up ever. You can virtually butt heads with your opponent and your melee swipes will not register if there's a teammate around.
Why is that a thing? Was it always like that or was the hit detection code changed at some point to accomodate weapons like the Disciplinary Action? I can't think of why the hell the game would prioritize hitting teammates over enemies, but I'm almost sure of it after playing quite a bit of Medieval over the years.
You just don't notice it elsewhere because in normal modes, you don't have multiple people piling onto a point and trying to melee each other.

+40% ubercharge + fastest rate was nothing to laugh at
anyway megahal should not have knockback resist and should not have flashing penalty. it should be about healing people and not trying to be some mini invulnerability
This Valentine's Day will the the tenth anniversary of cp_badlands being added to TF2!
edit: Badlands was the second post launch TF2 map, ctf_well was added January 25, 2008
They should add a vote for each map where you can vote to change map lighting (day/night), vote-able every 15 minutes.
I just played 2fort night, holy shit was it cool.
You can't just flip a switch and the map is instantly night time.
