I haven't seen any mountains of explanations, well more so it is that I can't remember the details of the last discussion that well.
The game has existed for a decade. That's easily hundreds of millions of of combined competitive hours (ranging all the way from platinum to open) and it's practically unanimous that everyone vehemently opposes random crits. This even permeates the hundreds of millions of combined hours of casual players who also despise random crits to the point where random crit binds themselves have ascended to that of memes. If you could so much as formulate an argument of your own, I'd let up on you, but you can't even do that. All you do is dodge the subject whenever you're the one perpetuating in favor of making simple quips that either push the blame on the person you're quoting or miss the point of what is being explained at you. Yes, at you, not to you. You seem to never listen, let alone retain information.
People are deliberately taking the piss out of you because you can't get it through your skull that deciding the outcome of a skillful encounter before any of the skill is put into practice by pure chance is a bunch of bullshit. TF2 encounters are fast-paced and lethal. Critical hits turn what is already a short-lived encounter into a 1-shot encounter. The difference being that it removes all semblance of special movement (such as surfing off of an opponent's attack knockback) and your own reaction time is nullified in an instant because someone clicked near you first. Something that would normally have done forty or fifty damage suddenly dealing three-hundred damage through no volition of either the attacker or the target has absolutely no place in a competitive environment. [...] Here's the kicker though: TF2 isn't a game about DPS, it's a game about burst damage. This is the TF2 thread, we don't give a flying shit about DotA, talk about TF2 in a TF2 setting. If you bring up DotA again as some form of contrived defense of random crits in a competitive setting, you're doing nothing short of shitposting.
See this? Read over it and formulate a counterpoint. You're trying to push the burden of proof onto me so here's a fairly simple example to support said stance. If you want to oppose that, form an argument rather than getting wishy-washy about a different game entirely and forgetting the conversation ever happened only to bring it up in 3 weeks time for the exact same song and dance.

Here is a poll of a bit more than 5000 /r/tf2 users. Slightly more than 50% liked random crits: http://www.strawpoll.me/2317837/r

The TF2 Team should be working towards consistency. Consistency of mechanics present between Casual and Competitive. As long as glaring misrepresentation of mechanics (random crits, random bullet spread) remains in Casual, it will be more difficult for the average player to find themselves wanting to play Competitive. These are things that must be changed. Competitive doesn't work with RNG, and Casual is inherently less fun because of it. Those are the facts, and I hope the TF2 Team implements the simple solution (their removal from Casual) for the same update that Competitive finally gets its refresher.
How could anybody enjoy being killed by a knee-jerk reaction undeserved crocket to the floor and then being taunted on 5 health
To avoid falling back into the bottomless pit which is discussing random-crits with ASIC (I'm normally not fond of calling out people but for all of us just stop), here are some news: TF2Tags is shutting down in a year. The reason can be read here. Pretty sad.
So you guys might remember that I was obsessively gushing over the Macabre Web MK.II weapons, being a collector of the original ones and owning the full set of them. I'm still far from the final goal, but I'm making a lot of progress: [t]https://i.imgur.com/mxlfoVd.png[/t] All of them have parts and Villainous Violet Professional Killstreak kits applied. Certain items were chosen solely because their specific patterns looked the best.

I just finally picked up my first Strange Plaid Potshotter Mk.II to upgrade my festive minigun to one with the Plaid Potshotter skin, which I do feels compliments the festive look my heavy sports... I still need to some how get one Strange Night Owl MK.II though... I want to pair the Grenade Launcher with my Sudden Flurry Sticky Launcher...
Here’s a question: if you lost your whole inventory tommorow would you still wanna play the game?
Here’s a question: if you lost your whole inventory tommorow would you still wanna play the game?
buy a key, turn into refined, get all the weapons back from scrap.tf (not sure what i'd do about Dragon's Fury and Thermal Thruster), and we're good to go
buy a key, turn into refined, get all the weapons back from scrap.tf (not sure what i'd do about Dragon's Fury and Thermal Thruster), and we're good to go
You are okay without your cosmetics or unusuals?

The reason can be read here. Pretty sad.
It's sad, but true. I remember so many in-jokes, so much drama between people like Jesse and the rest of the community; there was a long stretch of time where very few actual tags were made, mostly due to Jesse/TGR/P1P2 alternate account angst-drama. I remember when there were no comment limits, when crits and misses didn't have to be documented on a name-by-name basis (you can blame the aforementioned three people for both of those), when the site was truly 100% tags, as opposed to 50% tags and 50% in-jokes. Ever since those 3 people were banned or left, things simmered down back towards their originality, but that time left such a huge stain in the tags, if you search for tags on anything, you're bound to find something from that time.
You are okay without your cosmetics or unusuals?
I have no unusuals, and i don't have very valuable cosmetics
Here’s a question: if you lost your whole inventory tommorow would you still wanna play the game?
I'd be pretty pissed but yeah I'd still play the game. It happened to me before when I lost an account. I lost some items that had sentimental value to me.
Here’s a question: if you lost your whole inventory tommorow would you still wanna play the game?
I could probably play as long as I had access to the unique weapons at least... So like state, buy a key, sell key for metal, get all the useful weapons and unlocks for each class... Would be a bit discouraging to lose my collection of junk though that I've collected for what... 10 years now though lol...
Here’s a question: if you lost your whole inventory tommorow would you still wanna play the game?
yes the mvm "loot" would finally have a purpose
yes the mvm "loot" would finally have a purpose
What?
What?
You gain a random drop weapon or hat when completing a mission.
What?
the bajillion unlocks they throw at you like it's actually worth something
You are okay without your cosmetics or unusuals?
They're just that, cosmetics. They set you apart from others, but they don't make the game more or less fun. It's a bit like asking if you'd go to work wearing a uniform for a while. Of course I would, it's just clothes.
the bajillion unlocks they throw at you like it's actually worth something
Oh, I always just get a weapon or a robo part.
The ramsees regalia and the crown of the old kingdom look very well together even if the regalia is halloween restricted [[T]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/918041146877787095/84D445057B12990D233EF0F9AD09646B5A88F841/[/T]
I would hope so, considering they're both from the exact same design theme, and Medic has another Egyptian headpiece cosmetic in the exact same set as the Regalia that's halloween-restricted
Here’s a question: if you lost your whole inventory tommorow would you still wanna play the game?
Not like I have much anyway.
Here’s a question: if you lost your whole inventory tommorow would you still wanna play the game?
I would, but i'd be depressed as fuck that all my items were gone.
Do assists count towards the "kill 5 enemies without dying" contract? I'm trying to do my last support contract and can't decide between spy or sniper. On one hand, spy is pretty hard due to the constant threat of m1 pyros and his low health, but I think I can manage it with a lot of patience. On the other, I can't play sniper at all, I couldn't hit the sky even if I aimed at it. But if assists count, then I can easily use my jarate and retreat back to base to get those kills. I think medic is out of the qustion as it is to dependant on other people to complete the contracts.
So breaking the bottle with a minicrit only makes it broken for a second. Let's stop mocking the voters just because they're on reddit and consider pondering if they'd have any actual argument for random crits staying if asked. Would any arguments amount to more than "they've been around forever", or "it allows people who are bad to be good for half of a second by killing a better enemy with random crits"?
