Something interesting, the previous build number was 4301904, while the new update one is 4364345, we may get some bug fixes soon since there was a increment of 63000 but only two update changes.
I'm sorry for my ignorance, but where are you finding build number history information?
how bad would scout be ruined if scatters only had 150% ramp-up like nearly everything else?
what if grenade and sticky reserve ammos were swapped?
I'm sorry for my ignorance, but where are you finding build number history information?
In the github commit, go to the part that says "tf/steam.inf", it's pretty far down in the list.
edit:
how bad would scout be ruined if scatters only had 150% ramp-up like nearly everything else?
Wouldn't that make the default scattergun identical to the shotgun besides slightly different reload times? Why did Scout get a scattergun instead of the shotgun in the first place?

That would be the modified number in the steam.inf file in the root tf folder. You can publicly see the number change through the Wiki's diffs.

Edit: Partly ninja'd, but mine said where to find the number in the game's files, too. So both are valid, I suppose.
The 62,441 difference between now and the last update (being 41 days) averages out to 1,522/day, which is below the average of ~1,800/day.
Granted, this number was calculated only using the data from June, 16th until now, so it may be above average in the grand scheme of things. This is actually a higher number then the lead up to JI, which from 8/3 until 10/20 was about 1,400/day.
People on reddit are saying they can't hear in game class/administrator lines, apparently antiviruses are classing mssmp3.asi as ransomware, and the fix is using [del]very[/del] verify game files to restore the file (after deleting it I assume, so the anitvirus doesn't classify it) and whitelisting it.
Also is localization broken for anyone else? All the text added after Jungle Inferno is broken for me. (been that way since before today's update) Deleting the resource folder and verifying didn't help.
edit2: I'm curious, do antiviruses class files as safe or not when they're used by a program/opened, or are they classed when they first get on your computer? (besides doing a virus scan)

Are there any useful conclusions to be drawn from this?
Or is this just valve fumbling coding, and making themselves more bugs to fix as usual.

Well I'm just guessing, but maybe more build changes in updates means they're fixing bugs, while small build changes means they're working on the next big update and basing any bug fixes they do on the live version of TF2?
edit: sorry if this is dumb as I'm no dev

Honestly I doubt we can draw much in the way of useful conclusions other than the TF2 team is still working on the game.
Yay, now contracts end in 2038 instead of 2030.

EDIT:
Looks like the date for the next campaign is confirmed.
I don't know if twenty years is a reasonable amount of time to do the big earner contract
I don't know if twenty years is a reasonable amount of time to do the big earner contract
Might be able to finally get all those annoying defense contracts done by then at least...
Best part about contracts being forever? A constant influx of campaigner warpaints! Don't have to worry about paints like Bovine Blazemaker or Macabre Web drying up anytime soon.
There are 4 type of JI cases, which ones do you mean. Afaik the 2 skin cases shouldn't drop.
Hat cases.
Is it worth to unbox now that unusual taunts are so common?
Is it worth to unbox now that unusual taunts are so common?
Has unboxing ever been worth it? If you got keys just buy the thing you want.
Has unboxing ever been worth it? If you got keys just buy the thing you want.
I've got no loose keys, only an unusual worth approx. 25 keys
I made my money back and plenty more unboxing festive crates. If you get a bonus item it will be worth a dollar minimum, up to a key if its a festivizer, or even up to $5 if its a paint. And I unboxed 3 unusualifiers in about 35 crates. More worth it than ever before IMO, had terrible luck with the warpaint cases though.
Is it worth to unbox now that unusual taunts are so common?
Unusual taunts are NOT common, far from it, they are as rare as Unusual hats and items, its just that the demand for them is way lower.

Halloween effects are rare yes.
Regular effects no. Especially depending on what taunt it is.
The price of holy grail all class taunts dropped like a rock and backpack.tf hasnt updated the majority of taunt prices.

I dont know what you understand under common, but Unusual taunts aren't.
Prices are dropping because yes - they have become less rare, but they are still very much rare given you couldve only gotten them via Director's reel crates before, and given the fact that Cases are cooler to unbox youve got more people getting a chance at an Unusual Taunt.
Still a rare item, but even a rare item with little demand will drop in price, give the market time to stabilize.

I'm still under the impression that they did something and it dramatically increased the drop rate of taunt unusualifiers... Ever since the Halloween update I've been getting them like crazy.... In about 40 crates I ended up unboxing 4 and I unboxed another 2 for Christmas.... The prices of unusual taunts have all plummeted into the ground as well. On backpack.tf they also seem to have spiked over the past couple months in how many exist in the world as well...
I think it might have something to do with the fact that they're not part of the pick list of what item you get when you unbox, but they drop as an "extras" now ( like backpack expanders, tour tickets, tools ) when you unbox.
had terrible luck with the warpaint cases though.
Unboxing those is a very bad idea. You might get the elite warpaint, but it's battle scarred. Meanwhile with cosmetic crates, wear is nonexistent, at least for now.

I unboxed 2 in 20 crates and I never unbox unusuals
Also the number in existence is insane compared to hats

They removed the new music from Jungle Inferno from the main menu rotation.
Turns out they're actually not gone! I was making a github bug report and looked in the files to make sure and they're listed as gamestartup27, 28, and 29 in sound/ui in the sound_misc vpk. (open the vpk that says dir at the end with gcfscape to open vpks if you didn't know how)
Stupid defense contracts are broken... Get tossed into Gold rush, swap to gold rush contract... 0/20 kills on people pushing the cart... Kill at least 5 literally humping the cart...
still sitting on 0/20 at the end of the round...
God dammit, what the hell do I have to do to get these last 8 little shits done lol.
I completely neglected to play during Jungle Inferno and didn't get any of the new weapons. Were those added to the drop pool at all or is it still restricted to the contract system?
I completely neglected to play during Jungle Inferno and didn't get any of the new weapons. Were those added to the drop pool at all or is it still restricted to the contract system?
You still can only get them from the contracts, will probably how you get any future new weapons as well. The Pyroland ones aren't super hard, the Thermal Thruster and Gas Passer bonuses are tedious though, and the Hot Hand one is pretty hard.

Those are the free ones correct? And are those still available? I think I maybe played one day of Jungle Inferno and didn't read too much into it.

They are.
