its purely speculation. valve has no way to kill idle bots, or at least not a realiable way to do so in such an automated way that it would permanently kill idle bots.
Well, no, they actually did.
I have come to the realization of how much more enjoyable this game is without the reserve shooter.
I have come to the realization of how much more enjoyable this game is without the reserve shooter.
They specifically changed it in JI to minicrit jetpack boosting Pyros, I wonder if anyone has killed a boosting Pyro with the RS.
I have come to the realization of how much more enjoyable this game is without the reserve shooter.
You mean the concept of being punished for simply being airborne didn't appeal to you?
I've been pretty much solid against the RS for basically five years. I had a strange professional killstreak one that I used solely to kill other users of it but then sold it because I somehow amassed 1500 kills on it and I didn't want people getting the wrong idea of how I used it.
how low do you think keys are going to get?
I have come to the realization of how much more enjoyable this game is without the reserve shooter.
the game has several dozens glaring issues and you choose to make a big deal out of the RS :v:
You know, I feel as if this could be pretty bad in the short term actually.
Mainly, my fear comes from the fact that I know I don't know enough about economics to say I understand exactly what's happening here. My best guess is that keys are supposed to drop, but the fact that they're dropping this quickly is likely due to pure speculation -- that is, people expect keys to drop, so they artificially cause that drop prematurely.
That's not to say that getting rid of the idlebots will be negative in the long term. It'll probably be quite positive, and I'm very glad that Valve actually did something.
I just somewhat fear the rate at which this somewhat radical change is occurring. My limited knowledge of economics tells me that things happening this quickly isn't great in the short term, even if the long-term picture looks good.
Idk though lol
Honestly I'm not an expert in economics either, but I don't think it seems crazy that the market would react to these bot farms being shut down and such a big drop in the quantity of metal being created. I imagine things will settle soon enough and keys will find it's new base price.
how low do you think keys are going to get?
Even with these big bot farms being shut down tons of metal exists in the world and more gets created every day. It's not going to get super low.
the game has several dozens glaring issues and you choose to make a big deal out of the RS :v:
Stun combos will always stick out to me as the most unfun thing a game can do.
how low do you think keys are going to get?
all the way to the bottom baby 2 ref keys here we go

Lol imagine, that might make TF2 a subject to study in economics classes
Stun combos will always stick out to me as the most unfun thing a game can do.
so then your problem is with the airblast. well that's still in the game.
I've been pretty much solid against the RS for basically five years. A year or so ago, a really good pyro showed up on MicS Doublecross with a strange RS renamed something like "Turnabout is Fair Play." It had SP: Pyros killed on it, which matched the number of kills the weapon had.
so then your problem is with the airblast. well that's still in the game.
New airbalst feels more like a knockback than a stun.
New airblast feels more like a knockback than a stun.
yes, and it usually pushes the target far enough away that decent follow-up damage is difficult. not that it couldn't be improved to be less annoying, but pyro has much bigger issues (fire and mobility) at the moment that need solving.
Hey guys, it's story time. I'm telling this story here because it involves a few of you and also TF2. Well, at least the dream-within-a-dream does. The dream part actually doesn't have anything to do with anything.
It's time to dive into the weird fuckin dream I just had as a result of not sleeping until like 5PM.
It's time...for Contra-ception.
Oh, that's...that's already a thing, isn't it?
THE DREAM
Picture 1950s, 1960s America. Kinda old-school. Parties with rich people around the country, but especially in port towns and harbors. Always by the water. Always with the moon shining down from above, the sky a beautiful blue blending with the ocean in the horizon.
That's the setting. And I was this guy, this expert on a popular seaside myth. The myth was about a boat- a travelling boat always having a decadent party, but actually as a front for imprisonment and hypnosis. Crew members from this boat would target drifters and drunkards to take them onboard, never to be seen again. I was in one of these port town pubs, telling the story to a group of disbelieving seamen.
Then I fell asleep. While already asleep.
THE DREAM WITHIN A DREAM
I wanted to play TF2Center. So did Blackavar and some other guy I suspect to either be Hell-met or Fluury. (And you were there, and you were there...) The catch?
To play TF2Center and join a lobby, you had to walk around in your physical body to a few truck stops. Once at this truck stop, a lobby bus of sorts would arrive. Its back door would open up, then you'd climb in and press a large button corresponding to the class you want to play. When the lobby bus arrived, Blackavar and I stepped into it. Whoever the third guy was just...kind of disappeared at that point. I suspect I forgot they existed.
As fate would have it, only the Medic slots on the opposite teams were open. Blackavar, ever the charitable man, took the bullet. And me, being the only player needed to fill the lobby, decided not to, because fuck that. I'm not playing Medic for randoms.
So Blackavar gave me side-eye until I walked away and the lobby bus drove off.
When it arrived again, I bargained for the Spy spot. I got it. Where it gets weird is that once you pick a class, the bus opens up to seating in the back, where the other players are, at which point you are presumably driven to your lobby. When I sat down, a guy in the seat in front of me who looked a lot like the Spy looked back at me.
I reached out, put my hand on his left shoulder and said: "It's my turn now."
And then I was him. I brushed the hand off of my left shoulder and my original body disappeared. I was finally ready to play the Spy class in a lobby in TF2.
THE DREAM PT. 2
And then I woke up. In the dream. Not for real.
And I was on the goddamn boat. Apparently one of the people I'd been speaking to in the bar was actually complicit and me knowing so much led to my capture. I didn't make this logical connection while dreaming, but in hindsight I think it was the plotline my mind was trying to gun for.
Anyways, it's pretty much a Hotel California but a boat and its crew kidnaps people. The idea needs a lot of expansion, but I think it'll be cool to explore in a short story or something. I really don't know why the idea came to mind, or why I had such a weird TF2Center dream.
But I guess that's what sleep deprivation does to you.

sounds about right, though i no longer have tf2 installed on my computer, hah. did the lobby bus drive off with me in it?
sounds about right, though i no longer have tf2 installed on my computer, hah. did the lobby bus drive off with me in it?
Yeah. I don't know if the follow-up bus was the same or what though...
Always with the moon shining down from above, the sky a beautiful blue blending with the ocean in the horizon.
I know it's dream logic but this part caught my attention, the dream had the moon in the sky during the day? (I know it can happen in real life)
I know it's dream logic but this part caught my attention, the dream had the moon in the sky during the day? (I know it can happen in real life)
midnight dark blue, not light daytime-blue
midnight dark blue, not light daytime-blue
So it's eternal night in the dream?
Also it's just two people in the comments but keys might go down to 25 ref by tomorrow.

Keys seem to be crashing way more after my little post.
Oops.

realistically speaking, it was probably just taking place at night. I wasn't around in that world long enough to know things like that. but I knew my character was someone who had done this many, many times before: traveling to different bars and pubs and such and telling the story, always at night. he had become somewhat infamous for it.

According to this it's actually not key prices falling but ref rising. Also when were keys 25 ref? 2014?

Well... really, it's neither.
I'm pretty sure this ridiculous degree of crashing is just speculative action that will quickly be corrected.
Refined might rise... slowly. It wouldn't happen this quickly.
What has the TF Team been up to? As we know, disabling Idling farms.
Given how lead TF2 is by trading and the economy, this is rather massive, and the aftermath of the change is starting to hit now.
I wouldn't be surprised if we got some kind of further metal usage this year.
Key prices dropped from like 37 refined to 29 refined. That's quite a big change.
Remember people, sell high, buy low.
I remember when keys were at like 5 or 6 refined.
I remember when keys were at like 5 or 6 refined.
Back in my day, keys were 2.33 refined.
I remember when keys were at like 5 or 6 refined.
I remember when they were 2.33. I think they might have been lower than that when i started playing but I wasn't really paying attention.
Back in my day, keys were 2.33 refined.
If only we had known, imagine how much of a return you could have gotten for hoarding them back in the day. Back in the day you could have gotten a key's worth of refined every month just for playing until you hit your drop limit. That's $30 worth of free tf2 items every year just for playing the game.
