What is that video? It's down now.
A Saxxy submission called Meet the Janitor, was reuploaded due to audio issues. Thanks for prompting me to fix it. edit: seems that the Janitor's voice is clearer now, couldn't understand some words before, listening with speakers. Also maybe the cameraman's voice is clearer too.
The voice actor appears to be quite good, but even after the supposed audio fix he sounds like was recorded in an empty shower ...with a camcorder mic. It's a shame as dialogue is well written and humor is ruined by having to stop a video and replay it to tell WTF the actor just said.

Liked it - animation is a bit stiff in parts, though and the skinning for the arms has got that folding pipe (volume loss) thing going on. It'd have been a nice injoke if the janitors color scheme was more yellow or green to kinda imply that the yellow/green teams were sanitation crew who'd had enough of red and blu's shit. :v:
The gib bodygroup mod featured in the Janitor short looks good, shame adding it officially would likely cause stability issues like I think happened when they tried to add a Sniper glasses group.
We're playing backfort now on NA, we'll also do convoy and balloon race steam://connect/45.77.144.141:27015

Need to get rid of the engy's hand? sure thing. Want to remove pyro's head? no problem, m8. knock yourself out. Want to remove medic and sniper's glasses? YOU WHAT
Don't forget that Jungle Inferno brought in a hand bodygroup for the Pyro. And glasses are somehow still off limits.
serious answer: some of the facial flexes on the sniper and medic move their glasses around, so when they moved the glasses to a separate mesh for the bodygroup, it probably screwed up all the vertex data for the flexes and completely broke their face posing. if they wanted to make a glasses bodygroup work, they'd either have to: A: fix/redo all the flexes (i don't know how much work this would be, but it sounds like a pain) B: cheat, and instead of using a bodygroup, just shrink the prp_glasses bone down to 0 like they do with decapitated players' heads (this would be a lot easier; i don't think any of the glasses cosmetics are rigged to this bone, either, so you wouldn't have to change any of them)
Don't forget that Jungle Inferno brought in a hand bodygroup for the Pyro. And glasses are somehow still off limits.
Why on earth didn't they make the Hot Hand like the Gunslinger? I think they may have intended it at some point as it's one of the weapons that has separate c_ and w_ models. edit: I was wrong the Gunslinger doesn't use c_ or _w models, the world version is a built in body group on the base Engie model, and the first person one is a separate first person arms model edit2: well the Gunslinger first person arms are a c_ model but I thought it was like the Short Circuit
VNN is streaming now on his server and recording footage for the next TF2 video, play if you want to be in the video I guess. (also in the last two (or more) stream alert videos he's had footage of Haywire, neat)
A few days ago, I emailed Eric about not being able to see the Community Sparkle effect on weapons in first-person, and he got back to me saying that they would fix it in "one of the coming updates," which is different from his usual "I'll forward this to the right people" response. [t]http://puu.sh/zzDYo/215bcc23cf.jpg[/t] So we know that's definitely happening, but I wonder how they're planning to do it. They must have a system in place, or they wouldn't have outright told me it'd be fixed. It might just be a particle drawn over every weapon with a sparkle effect (because Community Sparkle weapons existed long before weapon unusuals) or it could act like weapon unusuals do, but then they'd have to map them to each weapon that has a Community Sparkle effect, a lot of which don't support being Unusual yet. Also, "one of the coming updates" is strange wording in itself. It might mean they have a few other patch notes planned, and don't know how many updates are actually coming.

I'd send over the first takes I did for the cameraman, but I don't think I have them anymore (they weren't too good).
is the hot hand truly a bodygroup? because if it is, why does pyro hide it every time you try to taunt with it?
https://plays.tv/s/LdfIKkdMhvsg What is going on here?
afaik charge crits always had this rare problem where bashing map objects counts as a person and triggers the crit the actual hit nonsense is just source demos being terrible
No, it wasn't the demo. I can confirm that this happened in real time, and he killed me while not even facing me. I knew the Disciplinary Action could hit enemies from behind, but I was under the impression that was fixed--it also has a longer range than Eyelander-class weapons. This is the first time I've ever encountered this.
well charging gives a secret melee range bonus ontop of eyelander's, and with melee detection being a sweep, it's not impossible that you can hit people 90 degrees to your right or left. soldier's whip is a good way to see how the detection acts when it scales that much bigger. it literally hits pointblank from behind and then I guess you can spice it up some lag comp nonsense and you get this sort of mess
If Heavy does get new weapons, do you think they'll make the models again or use workshop models?
is the hot hand truly a bodygroup? because if it is, why does pyro hide it every time you try to taunt with it?
the pyro's hand is bodygrouped away and then the weapon model is merged on top of it, it's the same as heavy's gloves and engie's short circuit
the pyro's hand is bodygrouped away and then the weapon model is merged on top of it, it's the same as heavy's gloves and engie's short circuit
Why did they do it differently with the Gunslinger and have seperate first person arm models?
Why did they do it differently with the Gunslinger and have seperate first person arm models?
because gunslinger wields a pistol and shotgun
because gunslinger wields a pistol and shotgun
Couldn't they just have the Engie's first person right hand bodygroup always hidden and have the robot hand always there? Or would that have been buggy with the Short Circuit.
Why did they do it differently with the Gunslinger and have seperate first person arm models?
i can't say for sure, but i've always thought it's because the gunslinger turns the engie into a completely different subclass with different capabilities - he has more health, he can plop down mini-sentries in the middle of the fight, and so on, so they'd want to make that instantly readable to opponents no matter what weapon he has out. this was also back when readability was a lot more important and cosmetics weren't anything fancier than some different headwear, so an engineer with a robot hand would pop out instantly.
