it is the battle banana
There was the theory they made their own jetpack model after using the Furious Flyer in dev because it's a free item and they couldn't pay the creator with key money or whatever, but this refutes that theory.
i assumed the jetpack getting remade was simply because they wanted it to match the design of the flamethrower
i assumed the jetpack getting remade was simply because they wanted it to match the design of the flamethrower
my belief is it just wasn't recognisable as a weapon, I intentionally designed it to not be a massive thing strapped onto his back (it was intended to be a misc) while valve's is clearly a massive thing strapped to his back. That and first person animations.
But they got pretty far in using it, I mean we got Furious Flyer particles in the game files hidden somewhere and its icon is still being used for the ingame jetpack.
I'd love to know the story behind it, as uninteresting as it might end up being.
The Titanium Tank tour will end on April 1. Official announcement
Been playing a bit of TF2PL the past few days and it's proven to be a good experience, much better than anything Valve matchmaking had to offer.
I seriously recommend you guys follow the instructions, sign up and join the Beginner's League. You won't always get great matches (I'm currently 1-2), but most people are playing to win and throwers/etc are being penalized quickly.
Just make sure to read up on the rules, follow the full tutorial, and walk into things with a competitive-oriented mindset: that losses are a learning experience and you should always put forth your best effort.
It's NA only at the moment though, EU gets in on 1st of April so we got some waitin'
throwers/etc are being penalized quickly.
now I don't consider myself the best thrower in the game but I still throw enough that this is a dealbreaker
Would you be ok with TF2 having viewmodel bob (your viewmodel moving a bit when you look around) or not?
Hell no. That'd fuck up my already shitty aim even further
Would you be ok with TF2 having viewmodel bob (your viewmodel moving a bit when you look around) or not?
Because tf2 needs to be realistic
Because tf2 needs to be realistic
I was wrong, viewmodel bob is the effect when you're moving (TF2 already has this), the moving while turing is weapon sway. (you can customize both in CSGO) But anyway I kind of like it.
Would you be ok with TF2 having viewmodel bob (your viewmodel moving a bit when you look around) or not?
eh, if it's optional, sure
[editline]4th March 2018[/editline]
3rd person viewmodels kinda do that already
I wish you could enable view roll in tf2, I always find it so satisfying for some reason, it just make movement feel good especially when your moving really fast
I'd honestly love viewmodel sway, I actually made a mod some time ago that adds a jigglebone to the root bone of the viewmodel arms so they have a shitty fake sway but it just isn't the same as real sway.
it would be good to have it but toggleable with a command, it definitely isn't for everyone.
I sure love getting crits on valve servers and then getting my ear drums destroyed from my custom crit sound
Atleast my hitsound works fine for some reason.
brainiac alert
I mean for the Second Banana, they just ripped the model of it off of the Battle Banana. (Battle on left, Second on right)

Haven't played TF2 for a month, what's up, what's new?
A Menozit video I actually liked:

Nothing.

I want what he's smoking if he thinks the 'new' character lighting (as shown on the comparison with the scout) was better now than it was. I mean, how the fuck is this a contest?

I don't like the original CrowbCat video in any case, but him actually saying that was an improvement was just being silly. The old absolutely does look better than whatever was show under the 'now' section.

I believe they added more severe rimlight for better class recognition.

The old, washed out, pastel arms, no distinct contrast is better than the new? He looks like his skin is one solid color and nothing else, and that's not even getting into the differences between static pictures and actual gameplay.

The irony is that now, many years later, there was some pyro item (a jacket of some sort, I think) that got in and I have consistently had problems with trying to figure what team it was as it approached me because with the darker shadows cast on the clothing plus the dark shade of red/blue used, I can't make it out at all.
Matter of personal preference, but if you (not you, Borealis, just in general) were struggling to make out classes with '07 lighting to warrant changing it to...whatever the hell the lighting is in the 2017 side, your eyes are potato, not the lighting - they should never have changed it. :v:
Of all the FPS games, TF2 has always had what is arguably the best class recognition - not just because of physical sihouettes, but postures, speed, color schema, etc. Not just a matter of how the face, etc. looks, that's just preference - but look at how clearly the team color pops on the left vs. the right.

Alternatively it could just be broken and they don't know how/don't care to fix it, like the baked map lighting in the crobcat video, coaching, replays, jigglebone bugs, MvM, the Energy Orb weapon effect, the everlasting multiple weapons at once bug, flamethrower hitreg, etc.

And the payload overheal bug (again)
And the payload overheal bug (again)
Remember that bug after JI where the mediguns wouldn't attach the first time you healed a class in the match or round? Wonder what caused that.
I just realized the Jungle Inferno Update fixed the B.A.S.E Jumper to actually open when deployed instead of just disappearing. I'm actually quite surprised on the amount of little fixes they did in that Update.

The lighting in the 'now' section looks horrid and makes the scout's model look pretty ugly.
I prefer the stylised lighting, everything looked unique and shadows stood out.
And also back then it didn't break the lighting on certain maps and turn some props pitch black...
But I'm also one of the few that genuinely liked the cartoony muzzle flash and wish it had an option to come back.
