Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but why can no-one connect to my listen server?
I've opened my ports, I've set the correct public ip, used sv_lan 0, reloaded the map and use heartbeat several times.
Yet when people try to connect to my ip trough the console it fails after 4 retry's

try switching to DMZ or using hamachi
I should have mentioned it worked fine before, without any software.
Nvm,
I've found the issue.
I moved my pc around and the local ipv4 adres got changed, not corresponding to the one I used for port forwarding

You might want to set yourself a static IP so the DHCP server of your router doesn't give you random IPs.

It probably happened because I had my pc connected to a entirely different network for about 2 weeks
Thanks anyway
Do you think a patch will come today?
Agree for Yes
Dumb for No
P.S: How can I put the rating images in posts

all we're going to get is announcing the start of saxxy voting
Do you think we'll get any updates at all this month?

The changes failed in almost every conceivable way.

Folks on reddit have been complaining about Pyro for a while, if reddit won't hurry Valve to fix it nothing will.
edit: I just searched "Pyro" at r/tf2 and set by most recent, and there were 10 threads/videos complaining about Pyro, showing how broken Pyro is, and suggesting Pyro fixes/asking for opinions on how to fix Pyro, in the last five days.

Strange. Everyone around here (myself included, I've seen some atrocities) seems to take a dump on them as being no better than the 12-year-old memerey of the steam discussions, so one of the very few non-meme quality posts making it to the front page surprised me.

if you took all the time you're taking complaining about pyro to actually learn to counter the class, you'd be having a lot more fun right now
And as per usual sets in my post-Saxxy entry Blues, where I see all this extraordinary content and look back and realize I havn't accomplished anything. Well I see some form of hope this next saxxy year, Im getting somewhat better at this TF2 Content thing.
But who gives two shits about me! good work to everyone and good luck, may the odds be forever in your favor!
They should have the official Hale model in a suit for the Saxxy page or the in-game main menu.
So many great entries this year but I'm leaning towards Agent Gunn as my favorite.
Wish I had the time and dedication/idea to make a saxxy entry with, maybe one day.

uploaded a vid showing that hacker ddos I ran into the other day, it's been discussed already but I got video proof of it now:

and that is why we need an actual full implementation of Steam Datagrams
in other news, we noticed quite a few journalists visiting Valve today, couple memes later, they were actually playing artifact and we got the first few screenshots
also I don't want to spam this thread with videos, but screw it we got loss

...and of course sure as shit an "ironic" pony hacker leaves a witty comment on the video. Another one posted after I wrote this up too.
This is why I avoid making videos about hackers now, they bring in views but they also give a boost to their pin-dick egos. I made an exception for this video because it's evidence of a hacker doing something quite serious (ddosing).
Imagine having such low self esteem of yourself that you track down videos of hackers and leave witty drive-by comments to make yourself feel better.
Or, even worse, being so desperate as to be paying for cheats in a free game where nothing's on the line like casual TF2.
Sadly, a symptom of internet culture and the edgy meme generation on it these days.
This is probably a stupid idea, but if they could, couldn't Valve possibly do what Blizzard did with cheat creators and sue them to stop them from creating more?

How well that would work would depend on where the cheat maker lives but if they live in a country that's friendly to the US court system/lawyers/companies it would be an effective move and one I would like to see Valve pursue. I have no idea why they don't.

Explanaton from a Valve dev about the benefits of datagrams from the CSGO subreddit:
The latest build of CSGO has support for a new relay protocol, known as “Steam datagram relay”. Instead of communicating directly with the gameserver, your client will select a relay and communicate through that relay. There are a few advantages of this method. First, this will eventually allow us to remove gameservers from the Internet completely, which greatly protects them against all sorts of attacks. Second, if a DoS attack prevents you from communicating with a particular relay, the client will automatically switch to different one within a few seconds. And finally, having different relays to choose from means the system can select the route which actually results in the best connection to the gameserver. For example, this relay protocol has been in use on Dota for about a year now, and the majority of Dota players playing in the US are experiencing a modest ping improvement compared to the route direct to the gameserver that they would have gotten with standard IP routing, because their client is selecting a relay closer to them. This also means that their traffic spends more time on Valve private dedicated links compared to the general Internet.
Money, dear boy.
Legal action against (in many cases) children is expensive even in the US. But other countries have different ideas: South Korean legal precedent and legislation criminalizes cheating in some ways though (economic sabotage, etc.), but that would take, well, an act of congress heh.

internet cafe owners around here would just slap the shit out of the hacker if they catch them.

They felt more like a cameo appearance to me than a staple part of the video. by the time they appeared I had forgotten it was even normal to have entries focus around them. Which made their appearance so much more entertaining.

Having all the spy action first and then Team Fortress showing up feels like a forced change. Agent Gunn doesn't even show much emotion towards his work being rendered worthless. I would have liked to see a shake of a fist at the very least. Left unchanged, the ending feels out of place and stains an otherwise good short film.

Him showing any emotion other than complete confusion and defeat, especially after getting the shit kicked out of him and hearing his certain doom would completely ruin the joke.
