Mostly out of hatred. A good chunk of TFTV wants pyro to be banned from 6s.

custom forum ratings soon
I suggest optimistic and the long needed pessimistic being a grey rainbow
Indeed- If we're to stay around, we'll soon need custom ratings for this subforum.
Off-topic, but important: With CrateGate being active and Crates effectively not dropping anymore for the last 6-7 months(?) - The effects are already starting to show, a great example is Crate #83 - which contains Killstreak Kits for popular stock weapons with a chance of 'em being professional and all that jazz.

With CrateGate being active, this crate doesnt drop anymore, and given it's a rather profitable crate, it's starting to rise in value with the last few days having it peaking.

And that is because there are only roughly 600 left!

For reference, when I finished Haywire I bought one of these and opened it for fun - 1000 were available, after a month they effectively halved.
So if you are tired in investing in bitcoin to exploit the economy, I'd recommend buying like 100 of those and waiting 1-2 months.
CrateConnect when?
Can you show the jetpack issues? My three annoyances are
How bad it looks when undeployed
How the handles don't have a hinge for them to fold with
You can see the bottom bit that retracts through the dent on one of the rockets
I think they still remember a bit of the artstyle, some war paints and textures on Merc Park still have the TF artbrush look.
But they said they have new particles? I thought the new flame particles were taken from HL2, the old flames looked bigger at the end of the flamethrower's range too I think.
Valve: Mission accomplished
There's an orange tinted flame particle / Donald Trump joke in here somewhere.
Until we get custom reactions, I'm just giving out cookies to posts I like.

Here is the wireframe and a general overview.
The overview you can see that the vents get fully lit up due to no specular, and you can also see a lot of the missing smoothing.

Here you can see some of the most obvious lack of smoothing groups, none of the wires have any.
Oh yeah I forgot about the messed up arm angle, and the model doesn't have any lods, I made a list of weapons without them and made a bug report on github for it.
Can you add specular/smoothing and show a comparison? (don't see much really off with the model besides the wire having a bit of cut off text) The dev wiki says "You can use the automatic smoothing option, but this usually yields less than ideal results." maybe that's what they used
Doing a specular and fixing the smoothing is a bit of an undertaking.
Also I dunno how you can't see that all the wires are squares and the light bulb having a hexigonal base. That and the top of the rockets seem to be individual triangles.
bit of devil's advocate but you can't see that stuff in real games
They do have new particles, not new sprite sheets. The old particles were a stream of sprites flowing and expanding and then fading (with the hitboxes mimicking their movements to varying success).
The new ones on the other hand is more of a blob of the same fire sprites that instead are spawned, attached and controlled by control points on the hitboxes, resulting in different looking behavior from when it was it's own thing.
Here are the old flames...

...And here's the exact same flames as above, but with edited values to look like how they appear now.

tl;dr: New particles =/= new sprites.
Didn't notice the light bulb base but I thought the square wire might have been intentional, it seems to be a big sturdy fuel line.
The old ones look so much better.
I hate how bright the new ones are.
I don't get why people are worrying so much about the dragon's fury's texture when the thermal thruster's texture is so much more blurry and gross
Because the dragon's fury was mostly base colours while the thermal thruster actually has a texture, just no specular map.
Turns out SoundSmith found that the Back Scatter doesn't minicrit if you fire it when in the air.

Yep, and I just sent Eric an email about this before you posted this.
makes no difference in the end because that gun is such garbage. that is why it took this long to notice the problem.
What if the Back Scatter had a damage buff to make it do 150 minicrit damage, to give it the specific use of oneshotting Medics and twoshotting Heavies. Clip size could go down to three maybe.
After thinking about this I remembered there's an achievement for killing a Medic/Heavy Pair with the Back Scatter, the change would make that easier.
No thanks. I'd rather just take the bugfix and ditch the accuracy penalty. The weapon's bad enough as it is.
I actually use it a lot, I love the flanking capability.
Unfortunately its gimmick being that of a better flanking option is still out-shun by a flanking scout using stock due to the 6 slug clip and the better accuracy.
I'd probably use it a lot more if it were reliable. It's insanely good at dropping anything below 150 health with ease as long as you get the first initial hit with a 100+ minicrit.
We'll be playing on the EU Server tomorrow, 19:00 Berlin time. Leave your suggestions in the discord server channel for what we could do.
See ya tomorrow.
That would be immensely broken and, once people caught on, useless.
Much like the present state of spy.
I thoughtoutly enjoy killing Scouts and Spies with the Back-Scatter in one shot and seeing them being very vocal about my mother's sexuality afterwards. The mini-crit sound makes it the more sweeter and satisfying to kill with as well, and it has some niche use in MvM as being able to kill Über Medics in one shot with one damage upgrade without having to whip out the FaN for each medic. Hopefully that mini-crit bug gets fixed and maybe gets buffed in some way in the next patch.
if you blast somebody in the butt with stock's 105 and can't manage to finish them off with a second shot (also still assuming they're surprised) then you're a pretty bad scout
there is zero redeeming quality about the backscatter. You could make it do full crits and it'd still be an average option (although far more appreciable)
By all means, I never said the Back-Scatter was a good weapon, but when I play on pubs, I do so for fun, and I like to try stupid loadouts while playing the game. Like I said, some people's reactions while using the weapon make it worthwhile, even just a "people still use that?" comment just like using the Baby Face's Blaster, and being able to do decent damage from behind at a range against unaware opponents makes it an interesting weapon to use, but not an effective one.
Which is why I'd like the TF2 Team to take bad weapons alongside previously-nerfed-and-forgotten weapons and give them some spotlight by giving them much-needed buffs and changes. In fact, a lot of people hope that this upcoming patch (allegedly, based on rumours), or the Competitive Update, does so, considering how much trash weapons there are in TF2 that could be given some love.
Yeah I have more fun gimping myself with a bad weapon with a questionable gimmick than using stock.
Reason why I use Back Scatter and BFB quite often.
I don't play to be the ultimate optimal player, I play to have fun, strange concept I know.
