CSGO fans honestly don't feel the effects of understaffing at Valve, due to the fact that a whole different studio works on CSGO with Valve.
Valve hired Hidden Path to make CSGO and once they finished the base game (which by all accounts wasn't that great) Valve took over and made it the juggernaut it is today. Hidden Path has had nothing to do with the game since launch.
Imagine if the update will come at the end of summer :v:
So many teen's struggling to play the update with all those school day's.
I figure it is either September or post Halloween. Sure they said before Halloween, but they also said bimonthly regarding a certain digital magazine (amoung other examples).
I don't think they would have said anything if it was just a couple of weeks away. My guess is mid september.
How so? There have been several instances in the past where they said "things" and the update came out in a timely fashion.
The blogposts proposed atomizer nerf is just haggling the weapon not solving the problem. 50% slower draw time is horrible especially on a weapon that relies on being drawn out to be used. This is not mentioning the fact that this would ruin the synergy between the atomizer and the other scout unlocks. Going with their train of thought about visibility why not make it to where every time the scout jumps he leaves the purple trail? No bullshit quick switch nonsense and gimmicking the weapon with stats that DIRECTLY COUNTERS THE INITIAL PURPOSE OF THE TOOL (Axtinguisher or Classic anyone?), problem solved from their standpoint.
However the problem with the atomizer (and soda popper) is that it allow Scouts to shit all over Soldiers. I don't like +- stats because they're lazy but in this case I would warrant a 20% blast vulnerability on the scout similar to the candy cane. This evens the playing field out for explosive classes without any oneshots taking place and also allows scouts the prior freedom the atomizer gives that the TF2 team is supposing to take away.
On another note this weapon change log is a goddamn mess of willy fucking nilly and gimmicking with no thought put behind the changes:
1. The whole point of the YER is you cant disguise but you gain really cool benefits as a trade off, not a knife that says "cloak or disguise not both". A cool benefit in tune with the YER would be longer cloak time or decloak noise being halved.
2. Bonk is supposed to be immortailty without skill because skill cant fix dustbowl or goldrush for scouts. Also have you seen the insane pushback sentries have? using bonk would be as much a death sentence as not having it.
3. I've already talked about the base jumper and how its on even footing with the gunboats and nerfing a tool that is an actual sidegrade to it is nonsense especially when every sniper, soldier, and heavy wants a piece of you when you use the BASE jumper.
4. Your giving up AA and damage capability when you use the Fists of Steel, not only would you be putting your medic in a really bad situation your also trading off potential damage dealt and area control which is huge. It's already bad to an extent because it requires Heavy to pull out his fists.
I'm fine with some of the other changes but the changes for the weapons listed stick out like a sore thumb as really bad ideas.
Fuck it raffle time. You know the drill.
Quick sum-up of notable things happening in the future that might affect your choice:
1. At the end of next week, we have i61, the biggest tf2 comp tournament of the year.
2. We also have Gamescom next week.
3. Next week, the Team Fortress series celebrates it's birthday. NOT team fortress 2. Birthday mode will be enabled.
4. On October 10th, TF2 will celebrate it's 10th birthday.
5. The Updated SteamUI will still enter beta... soon? They stated Summer, but it's valve so really, we don't know.
Quick sum-up of recent info that might impact the Update release date:
1. B4nny "leaked" a change happening in the Update.
2. In the email ics received 3 weeks ago, the TF Team stated that the update will release "plenty of time" before halloween.

MyM had no excuse for being as bad as it was. Somehow launching like eight months later than anyone reasonably expected, it legit wasn't tested at all, and didn't address any of the actual problems with the game.
Them taking even longer for this one, and then going "lol Heavy is going to come later as well" is unacceptable.

I'm voting on what I want, not what I expect, because dammit I'm so unsure about everything.
Also, this weapon needs a Strangifier.

2 of the same
With all the time this update is taking, there's got to be some features we don't know about right? RIGHT?

Not really. The biggest plot twist might be that it's the PyroANDHeavy Jungle Update.

I am to this day irritated about all those people who started licking their ass after mym flop. "They rushed it because of YOU, anon. Now face the consequences!" "Valve tried their hardest and did their best, stop complaining about this shit, it's not that bitter" . That trend is much more puzzling than nature of meet your match
Not really. The biggest plot twist might be that it's the PyroANDHeavy Jungle Update.
After this time the only acceptable course of action would be to release Heavy pack right after Pyro pack, maybe at day 2, so Pyro would still technically get his stuff first, but we could have no more unjustified waiting, thank you very much
I know I'm late, but I'm glad they're re-configuring the crate mechanics. While the chance of getting a "batsaber" or "Space Hamster Hammy" (I unironically like that item, even before I learned about the youtuber) was tempting, I just kept putting it off because of the niggling doubts of wasting time and money. Not to mention how much worse the weapon crates were, how many times I'd opened an august crate to get a shitty beaten-up wrench was one too many.
Like, I can't express how pathetic it was, and every time, you have to stress that, at the time, they reconfirmed the arbitrary "Yeah 16 people are on the TF2 team exclusively".
What were they doing? It was supposed to ship during the fall of 2015, and was nearing completion then? What? How did it take another 8 months to get released in a state that genuinely looked like it was created in two weeks at -most-.
And it wasn't even functional. Like, there's no defending that, that's delusional. And they couldn't even get any balance passes since then. You know, the ones that are necessary to keep a comp game alive, well, that and performance that isn't atrocious.
January 6, 2017, I asked this question:
"What's keeping the team from balancing weapons a little every minor update?"
and Jill answered:
"Without getting too much into our development processes: Weapon balance is only one of a number of things we are working on currently. With our present development resources, it often makes more sense focus on certain areas as a team. Balance, in particular, requires playtesting and evaluating often noisy data, and benefits from being pushed into larger sets of changes from a development-time perspective."
So basically it seems like what they care about most is working on massive updates with massive changes with maps and contracts and cases and massive sets of comp and casual changes. Like balancing is one of the last things they work on. I have a feeling this is due to the money they get out of major updates.
That's embarrassing
Hold that fricking ketchup REAL GOOD, Meet your match was planned to drop in fall 2015 ? Can i get a JUICY source for that ?
Edit: Also, why are we still talking about MyM in the first place ? The update happened 1 year ago, why have we still not moved on.
They straight up announced back then that a major update (Which never happened) was going to hit late November, early December 2015.

A link to the source would be nice, dude. Is it on the TF2 website or on a TF2 forum ? I'm a bit confused where to look.

What kind of playtesting and noisy data evaluation do you need to bring the fucking old Bison back? I understand that game balancing is hard as fuck and as an amateur game developer I can't even begin to imagine the colossal pain Valve must go with whenever they change something, because even the stupidest weapon has somebody who loves it, but some things are and will always be no fucking brainers.

Do you miss the long 60-minute pub matches Quickplay used to offer? I certainly did, and I hope they bring them at least partially back in this update. Casual still seems really underwhelming on that front, as games come and go really fast, and the TF team has had no concerns related to match lenght. I can tolerate matchmaking wait times, I can endure for even longer for a map that I like, but I can't get the joy out of one or two matches before I'm sent to the queue again.
Only thing i miss is the spirit on the community server of ours where people would stay on the same server, have fun with eachothers and have a decent skill level of the game. Right now its pure "noob bash" on valve servers and always new server for different maps. Rarely i see vote getting anything but current map.
I miss the adhoc connections most of all. A handful of maps are my absolute favourites, so I prefer playing on just those, and it took like 30 seconds to find and join a server playing a map I liked.
And if one of those servers was no good (badly balanced teams, a hacker, map ends, empties out, etc), then it took 30 seconds to find a replacement server.
Now though, with the current matchmaking, it just grinds and grinds and never actually puts me on a server playing a map I want. I'm in the US, so only thing I can think is that the matchmaker just doesn't like it when you try to be picky about maps. <shrug>
I miss being able to join my friends games on the enemy team and taunt after every time I kill them.
While I wish that the voting got changed so that the current map couldn't be voted on, all that would realistically do is make servers empty out as people hop on another turbine/2fort server. I really think the pause of the scoreboard doesn't help; before, the game would end and aside from the map load you'd instantly be popped into a new one, now you have time to twiddle your fingers and regret your decision to play TF2 as 80% of the server drops out.
I really don't remember it being nearly this bad, and I feel the pointless downtime of the scoreboard doesn't help.
Edit: in addition to the post above mine, I miss going into spectator...now I have to hope I'm on the side of a potential hacker, suicide, then stay on the class selection screen (which constantly extends your respawn time for some reason) and try and view the hacker through that. Not great.
