The people who always vote for 2fort and dustbowl are the same people who leave and re-que if the voted map isn't said map. It wouldn't change anything.
Got a source for that?
Are you guys seriously insulting someone for asking for a source for a dubious claim?
Embarrassing.

I don't think so. It doesn't matter if you pass a vote for a better or different map, if there's 200 minutes of 2fort left you'll never see it, nor will the people queued up for said maps because the servers are still on extended 2fort.
It's a for feedback loop that reduces the number of players in-game and increases queue times, enabling the tyranny of bad players voting for maps that are ass.
That's still irrelevant because the people who only want to play 2fort are still only going to want to play 2fort.
If people want to play badwater, they're going to queue for badwater, and people playing 24/7 dusbtowl isn't going to change much.

You're not reading what I'm saying. If the players are allowed to vote to extend maps, they're going to vote to extend the most commonly played maps in the game, which are 2 fort, goldrush, dustbowl, etc.
Almost all of the servers will perpetually run those maps once they get played, due to vote extensions. If you're in line for something other than those maps, you'll be there forever, only to play one round of it, and then get 2fort voted for again and then extended into infinity.
The same scenario happened with pre casual, and plenty of other valve servers still ran other maps. I could still find plenty of valve badwater, gorge, gravelpit servers.
The bigger problem is how short casual games last. Whenever a game is over, I can always guarantee the server is going to empty out as soon as the next map loads.

I think a big issue is the map vote takes so long, it should be at least half the time.
Honestly the who final casual stats screen is a mess, with the map vote covering up the top scoring players on each team and the map/match rating covering up the middle of the screen. I hope Valve changes it in the Pyro/Jungle update.

It was meant as a joke, not an insult, due to the fact that he asked for a source twice and was given no answer. I didn't make that apparent.

I can't believe the VA of the scout is just leaking the entire Update to us!
Not gonna lie. A class that uses a harpoon and grappling hook would be fucking dope

I much prefer the system where it gets you to vote while the round is winding down, as soon as the game ends it pops you into the new map. It feels so forced to stop, view a scoreboard for what feels like 10 minutes, then hop into a 60 second warm up period.
Well, except for the bit where the voting options override weapon switching, but apart from that...

Well you could always use the F keys for voting instead of the number keys.
I found a solution for people who get annoyed whenever facial flexes on their cosmetics keep breaking.

So if one would remove the player models from the class selection screen completely, Heavy ones would work properly too since Heavy will never be rendered before you select the class, and you probably wouldn't need to use number keys either because even other player models will not be rendered at all on the section screen.
I will probably edit the class selection menu so the models never get rendered from the start just for this
And put a fucking timer on powerhouse.
Please don't. Winning powerhouse after an hour of stalemating is a very satisfying pub experience.
Welp, I'm going back to school tomorrow. Looks like I won't be playing the update much.
I still hope for next week, as it's still going to be Summer and I'm not going to school until Autumn.
But if it doesn't release next week, I'm fucked. It won't be just be me, but many others.
Honestly, if TF Team doesn't release the update next week, they will also be pretty screwed. I hope it's not like that for them that they either have to rush the update or will miss the opportunity to grow player numbers.
anyone else having issues with servers?

Why? Doesn't matter thing or the other if its not next week. Could be week after that or even further ahead. They dont care about dates, its already obvious since they didnt give out a date for the release or even estimate.

It's pretty sad Valve couldn't ship this update before people started going back to high school and college. I wonder how much money they're going to lose out on because people have less time to play the game than during the summer?

Based on how many people complain about $5 event passes as if it were some expensive investment, I'm very curious whether the high school & college age audience is actually the main source of TF2 income.
I'm hard pressed to guess what other group would be responsible though (whales? the 22+ casuals? the 30+ old timers?). Maybe the ones who don't want to pay are just more likely to complain about it?

Valve doesnt really look to tf2 for money.

They will lose the chance to make the player numbers much higher if they launch it in Autumn, as many will be in school. What's the point of making a huge update if it will not change popularity? Of course, there still would be a spike of players, but much less than could be if it will be released in Summer.
I'd say they missed the boat. Now if it turns out like MyM did, they have no excuse.
I get that you guys are frustrated that the update didn't release yet, but there's no point in releasing something that's not finished, right ? Who knows what else it's about, if they take the time to polish this update up as much as possible, it has to be competent, right ?
I don't know, surely at this point at least a part of it has been done? Like, they should be able to push some balance changes like the ones mentioned in the blog.

It shouldn't take this fucking long, valves management is a sadistic joke.
I dont care if they dont want another MYM, if they cared they would actually step in and give tf2 attention or more coders.
This is not fucking okay....Not at all.
Didn't blackavar post an email textpost of jill telling him why they don't ship balance updates separately about 5 times already ?
Edit: This is what Jill said about the balance changes, by the way.
Without getting too much into our development processes: Weapon balance is only one of a number of things we are working on currently. With our present development resources, it often makes more sense focus on certain areas as a team. Balance, in particular, requires playtesting and evaluating often noisy data, and benefits from being pushed into larger sets of changes from a development-time perspective.
The part that confuses me is the apparent need to package all the changes into a single large update. Something like balance changes I'd expect to be released as soon as they've settled on the changes and done their testing, as most other games do...I'd much rather welcome plenty of small iterative updates like much needed balance changes on a single weapon, then putting out a slightly major update, over just lumping everything together into one package and letting the game stagnate for the rest of the time.
It just doesn't make any sense.

I think something changed about this menu, specifically on valve servers.
There appears to be the option "Spectate" now. The screenshot above was taken on a community server, where it isn't available for some odd reason.
I'm pretty sure the "Spectate" option wasn't available before in valve servers in that tiny menu. As of right now, it does nothing.
Can anyone confirm this?
