TF2 General Chat and Update Speculation Station - One of Several Edition

I need to retest this to be sure, but I think I might have found a way to spycheck with ease. With the F key (by default), you can inspect the loadout of your allies. However, this doesn't work on your adversaries, including disguised enemy Spies.
Can someone check this?
It's the way I go when I draw up sprays, but I believe you can just incorprate images now to turn them into sprays. I believe there is a website as well that does the work for you to turn them into sprays as well.
Don't sprays only have to be a TGA file? It's been awhile since I've made a spray but I'm sure most image editors have an option for TGA.

Nope. You can import .png files and .jpg files into VTFEdit.
You can also just directly import stuff like PNGs as sprays without converting them to VTF but PNGs will lose their transparency.
The only server I used to play on died a slow, inevitable death around a year ago. Since then I've been playing tf2 very rarely either on jump maps or randomizer mvm. Assuming there are still any community servers alive besides skial, I'd really appreciate it if some EU folks could provide me with IPs of community servers with a generally pleasant player base.

I second this, I really want to play tf2 but servers that run an actual map rotation and don't have all kind of stupid mods running seem few and far between now days.
Two things killed tf2 for me, loss of pubs, the places where magic happens and the drop in performance due to all of the updates duck taped to the game trough years.
I tried to make a VTF with a Gimp plugin and the game doesn't recognize it. It seems I need to create a VTM file as well. Or I could go with VTFedit, but the website hasn't been updated in forever and my web browser says "this website is not safe", thus, I'm kinda scared about installing the program.

What do you mean by "the game doesn't recognise it"? Does it not let you select the .vtf file in the in-game importer or something?

My bad. It allows me to select the .VTF file on the multiplayer tab, but it shows the classic purple/orange texture. When I press "T" in-game against a wall, no spray came out.

Best and simplest way to make a spray:
Make a 512x512 ( Highest possible spray size) image of whatever you want saved as TGA or PNG, import through VTFEdit, save it as a VTF in anywhere and then select that VTF in spray options.
You don't need a VMT file at all, also Gimp probably isn't gonna work well for making VTF files.
Also the reason for converting the PNG/TGA to VTF is because when you select those file types directly as a spray, I think they get resized to 256x256 ( I'm not 100% sure with this, but I do remember back when I tried 512x TGA/PNGs they looked smaller and low quality as a spray. )
Is your favorite gun Sasha, Svetlana, Oksana, Sheila, or Natascha?
Agree for Sasha
Disagree for Svetlana
Funny for Oksana
Winner for Sheila
Zing for Natascha

Or you can just wait until the Pyro/Jungle update and buy an official spray from Valve* that works on Valve servers.
*Not yet confirmed but it's in CSGO so you know it's coming.
Meanwhile in a custom mvm map

I hate paid sprays as much as everyone does but maybe if people didn't use sprays to cover the spawn with porn/gore/CP/shocking shit in general this wouldn't be happening.

Yeah I totally get why Valve doesn't want just any sprays in TF2 or any of their games, I've seen some pretty awful stuff over the years and I love using my Survivor smile spray next to those kinds of sprays:

I wouldn't mind TF2 getting paid sprays that work on Valve servers (especially if they start accepting community made ones and split the revenue with the artists, as well as make ones for competitive teams and split the money with the teams) as long as they don't have a set number of uses like CSGO.
Question for everyone, in casual does there seem to be an inordinate amount of 2fort being played? It seems especially noticeable for me when playing late at night and the pool of servers is less, removing CTF from the filter makes it take ages to find a game...
I preferred the pre-MyM method (as with basically everything) where it rotated through them, now it feels like I play the same few maps over and over again, which gets rather stale.
MyM caused a huge stratification in the maps played on both Valve and community servers. The removal of QuickPlay killed off most community servers that weren't Skial/running 2Fort/Turbine/etc. The changes MyM brought to how Valve servers work (the MvM lobby system being grafted on, the removal of Valve servers from the server browser, the removal of game mode rotation servers) has resulted in the 3 most popular maps (the "TDM Three," 2Fort, Turbine, Hightower) being played far more and less popular maps falling into obscurity.
I'm a Doublecross main (I run the only populated community DC server, and we're only active sometimes) and past 10PM or so Eastern it can be a Herculean task to find a game. With QuickPlay and the server browser, I could find a populated DC server more or less always. I could even dial in what flavor of DC I wanted: Virginia (bog standard Valve server game, decent ping), Washington (ditto, worse ping), LA (even worse ping, lots of tryhards), Luxembourg (ping better than LA or WA, Euro insanity) or even Stockholm (lol ping, Euro insanity on steroids.) Now I look at a loading screen and I can't even interact with my inventory.
Doublecross is a cult map, but it is CTF and it does get played. Other maps are far more difficult to find. I wanted to try some PLR not Hightower a few weeks ago and I eventually gave up. ~8:30PM Eastern, and I got through most of an episode of Level1 News on my laptop before giving up. On a similar note, I don't play much Koth, but I'd like to find a game of something besides Harvest.

If you give people the opportunity to be toxic bile spigots (sprays, custom decal tools, etc.) then the laws of the internet dictate they will take full advantage. I doubt paid sprays will happen, even if they did nobody would pay for them in this game.
well then, you all prepare to move into this thread now.
I blame the spy mains.
Killing Dead Ringer spies as soon as they pop their watch as Heavy is satisfactory.
I updated the OP given the recent circumstances, did I forget anything worth mentioning?
We need to update the title.
I'm thinking something along the lines of "TF2 Major Discussion: One of Several Edition"
Edit -didn't saw the title-
OT: I'm at 152 duels won. Only 100 more for that Silver Medal.
We need to update the title.

But that would imply it's about discussing Major Updates thus anything that isn't major update related will get you banned. Titles are very important.
(I can't even change the title :V)
You know how in casual, the game will often "forget" what level you are so it dings twice when you level up? For whatever reason, it went through every single level instead...
