I'm surprised no British poster has gone full cynic and said that 9/6 means June 9th :v:

They know Valve and Uncle Dane would use the inferior American date system.
How many of you guys actually think something will happen next week? Honestly, if valve was going to release an ETA for the update, having dane post a half-joke tweet out of nowhere doesn't seem like a good way to do it. Staying optimistic though.

Well if he isn't fucking with us, he might have been told not to explicitly say when the update's coming out so he could be just doing it as a loophole. If he is truly fucking with us though, that's a really bold move on his part

I dont think dane would disrespect the TF2 team by giving us a not-so-subtle hint to the release date without permission. He either had permission to make that post as a sort of reveal, or he's messing with us.
Like Fluury said, Dane was really careful about his words in the previous Valve visit. This is definitely, 99% a request from Valve.
My heart says "hype" but my mind says "stop"

It wouldn't surprise me if the TF team planned this with Dane in order to build hype. It seems like a weird twist form of communication that the team would do.

Nevermind lmao. If this is true then Dane is going have some serious hate to deal with.
Seems really weird that Valve would actually reveal an update date through the community like this. If they're condoning this it kind of seems like an underhanded move to generate hype while avoiding responsibility if it falls through. Like, it's very much within the realm of possibility that the update will get pushed back to the week after the 6th, because of a last minute horrible bug. And that's fine, that's just how game development goes. The part that seems sketchy to me is that if it falls through, Valve is now directing any bad publicity to Dane instead of themselves, because they technically never confirmed an update date officially, and Dane's the one who claimed it would be the 6th. If you're going to go throwing dates around, you should be the one responsible if that release date gets pushed back. Of course Dane actually chose to say it. It's not like Valve could have thrust this on him without him actually wanting to. I don't like that they're hiding behind this second-hand cryptic nonsense.
That being said, if Valve DIDN'T ask him to reveal this, then none of this is on Valve, it's 100% on Dane. Leaking intended release dates like that would be doing more harm than good, and I'm sure would make Valve a lot less likely to confide in you in the future.

If this is true, fuck him. What a dick move.
this instantly reminded me of this
Well, it looks like he killed his career. What a dolt.
I'm still with dane on this one, him of all people would know lying about shit like this would likely end his tf2 career at worst considering how long we've all been waiting for this update

Assuming that this is true, I would believe that the team wouldn't give any release date unless they were absolutely 100% sure that there is no more work for them to do.
What's the fire in my eye?
the pyro update
That must be a fairly dim fire, being so distant and all.
This doesn't make sense.
I remember when the comic for MvM was released an in game alert was posted. I wonder if we'll get an in game alert for the update?

Hopefully Dane is just saying that he was joking so people don't ask him for more info on the update, because giving an exact date for the update after meeting with the TF2 team isn't a joke. A joke would be something like a tweet he made a couple of months ago when he said the Pyro update would come out on a day ending in Y.

Don't they usually send out alerts in game when regular updates come out because they have to restart the servers/restart the GC and tell players to restart their client?

What the fuck? This is not funny at all, this is just cruel.
I'm unsubbing. I'll sub back if the Update or the blog post comes out on September the 6th. You all should do, this crap deserves some attention.
I'm staying hopeful. Dane has a good track record of being a good member of the community. It seems out of character to suddenly fuck with everyone
Yeah I'm rolling with him just saying that so people would stop to ask about it.
Dane seems like a pretty positive member of the community, if he's making japes they are pretty obvious and/or hold no information at all.
It's either that or Dane has 0% awareness of what effect this post has on the community in such a state and is short of the biggest ass whooping of 2017 on his red beard
weird, random thought:
heavy the character is often viewed on a surface level as dumb and simple. however, he's actually extremely intelligent- up to and including having a doctorate in Russian Literature- and very, very good at killing folks, seen from as early as his origin story breaking out of the gulags with his family. underestimating heavy the character can and absolutely will get you killed.
heavy the players are often viewed as dumb and simple. especially people who don't actually play heavy, who think you can just pile onto people and take every 1v1, regardless of positioning. heavy played properly, however, utilizes game sense and team work- arguably requiring it more than any other class in the game- and makes him monstrous in coordinated team fights and well-planned engagements. playing heavy is simple- being good, or great with him requires great game sense and the ability to punish people with inferior positioning and game sense.
in this way, a great heavy player is extremely similar to heavy the character- both being underestimated based on surface-level assumptions and stereotypes, and both having great potential to be extremely dangerous against opponents of inferior skill and mental footwork.
it makes me wonder if those parallels are intentional, or just a happy accident.
I've always thought Demo's chaotic drunkard personality was in line with players' habit of spamming nades randomly without aiming and occasionally blowing self up.
A lot of classes are this way. Spy however, is completely off. Doesn't even listen to ambient EDM or watch edgy anime.
I'm also hoping for next Wednesday.
I have also decided that I'm going to subscribe again, and instead unsubscribe if it turns out to be really a joke. :P Of course, Valve could delay the update next week, and then it would be unfair to fling shit at Dane. Eh, we will see.
Dane speaks the truth until he says he doesn't.
Dane is lieing until the update drops on said day.
Dane's Twit is at the same time a false and true statement.
Schrödinger's Dane.
Maybe we should make a gofundme to send a reliable member of the community to run the math on a quantum computer.

But Spy is a cheeky jerk. Just like the players
ambient EDM
DJ for over two decades here. "Ambient EDM" is not a thing. It will never be a thing. Even if you throw DJ Pauly D down a mineshaft and record his screams and the bits of coal ash bouncing off his impossibly gelled hair with an array of 74 microphones, it will still not be a thing. Ambient gabba is more likely to be a thing, and that's a complete oxymoron. Please no.
On topic: I really hope Uncle Dane has not tanked his career with two misplaced digits. I'm not much for TFtoobers, but he always struck me a nice guy who makes quality content. The TF2 community is in a surly mood, and it'd be a shame if he became the target for its rage because of one dumb tweet.
This week is the week were all of dane's subscribers may leave.
Well Dane must be literally playing with fire at this point.
The fact that dane is liking tweets like this just shows that he is 200% aware of what he's doing.
I really doubt this is a jape, you can think of his videos what you want but Dane isn't dumb enough to basically commit PR-suicide.
