Send it to Valve, it's definitely a bug that the team oversaw.
Who should I send it to? EricS maybe?
Who should I send it to? EricS maybe?
Him or Jill would probably be your best bet.
After such a long wait, I'm actually starting to not want the update anymore, in fear of being disappointed. Anyone else having this or am I being weird?
At this point I'd prefer to know that I'm disappointed, instead of waiting even longer just to be disappointed y'know
Just want to do a quick poll. What do you think would kill the game faster / Be a worse fate for TF2? Late - The update gets continuously delayed to a point where people get incredibly bored w/o new content. Disagree - The Pyro/Jungle update ends up being completely broken on launch / incredibly disappointing and r/tf2 dissolves into a shit-fit causing a never-ending downwards spiral of negativity and people quitting TF2.
The game does fine without new content, its just that it's still broken from MyM and valve has withheld/hasn't applied fixes for 400+ days. The core gameplay is solid, but it could be so much better. That, and we're still waiting for them to add back basic shit like team scramble and ad hoc joining.
TF2 is at it's lowest point after MyM, especially reputation wise. Let's say we won't get an Update for the next 3 years. What would happen is... nothing. The game would still be played, however players would slowly but steadily decline. This goes on, until no one plays. Keep in mind to reach the "no one plays" part it'll take several years. So reputationwise tf2 is at 0. It only makes sense to go all in with this Update so people go "Wow, a shiny new update and it's amazing!" to boost it up again. Question is what they'll do with that newly gained rep. Kinda sad Dane didn't ask the folks if they'll continue with the "two giant updates every year" formular or switch to the "medium to small, but more frequent content" Updates. I'm 100% a fan of the second option.

There is halloween and smismass coming but if they make us wait another 8 months next year without and update, its a very big mistake. If this game can grow, it can only grow by more steady content updates. Not just hats and crates or bugfixes, it needs new features. Maybe some gamemode. Maybe its an idea i can work on. Hmm.
I just hope they announce they need maps for halloween and a deadline in time, no way they'll have time to do their own
I just hope they announce they need maps for halloween and a deadline in time, no way they'll have time to do their own
I'm still optimistic they could have something on their sleeve from them by map wise. But i also know a lot of people from community side are making halloween maps right now. Including me.

As long as potato pc's still exist, tf2 isn't going anywhere.
As long as potato pc's still exist, tf2 isn't going anywhere.
except tf2 is horrible for potato pcs
As long as potato pc's still exist, tf2 isn't going anywhere.
tf2 destroys horrible pcs though.
As long as potato pc's still exist, tf2 isn't going anywhere.
maybe you could go buy the rest of us pcs that don't suck at running tf2.
I'm still optimistic they could have something on their sleeve from them by map wise.
jungle map reskin
Off-topic question - is there any way for me to get a fancy spellbook if I don't already have one? I deleted mine in a freak backpack accident a while ago and I miss it dearly.

To those that disagree with me, why would you say it's plausible for another major update in 2017? It's already almost nine months into the year and the TF2 team is still working on their first; what time do they have for another? If the time it took to develop this update is proportionate to the amount of content we receive, then we may not even need one, honestly. However, I don't foresee that being the case.
If the TF2 team had to rehash a halloween update to get an update ready that still isn't here yet, I doubt they'll have anything else significant for the rest of the year.
Is this what it feels like to be in a coma, aware that you're in a coma?
If the TF2 team had to rehash a halloween update to get an update ready that still isn't here yet, I doubt they'll have anything else significant for the rest of the year.
If this is anything less than uber update-level game changing, I doubt the TF team will have even a scrap of mercy from the playerbase. Although it does beg the question, what the genuine fuck has it taken so long, beefing last year's Halloween, smissmas, and the entire summer/beginning of fall to prepare a few jungle props, a sfm short, casual/comp rebalances and a pyro class pack?
Add me to the list of people that played/saw the pyro update in a dream.

That doesn't leave much time to work on the Smissmas update, I guess it depends if they've worked on the Heavy stuff at all or not during the past year. I'm sure when MyM was released they a general idea of what heavy and what pryo weapons they were planning on adding to the game but obviously new weapons need a lot of playtesting.
Add me to the list of people that played/saw the pyro update in a dream.
I haven't had a dream about the upcoming update that I can remember, but my favorite TF2 dream had to be the one I had a few days before Smissmas 2014 when I dreamed that a Donkey Kong themed map with barrels that blasted you around the map was added to the game. I was pretty shocked with how close the dream was when I saw the grappling hooks for Mannpower mode.
I don't think we're getting Scream Fortress this year at all, the past couple years have been pretty underwhelming anyway so I don't particularly care that much anymore about TF2 celebrating Halloween.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves talking about "major updates after the pyro one". We still aren't even 100% sure that pyro update wont end up being this christmas in the first place.
I prefer weapons being non-shiny. I wonder if extra lighting calculations are used for it?
I don't think we're getting Scream Fortress this year at all, the past couple years have been pretty underwhelming anyway so I don't particularly care that much anymore about TF2 celebrating Halloween.
We'll get the same scream fortress we got last year, a few community maps and a few cosmetics, and the old maps enabled.
We'll get the same scream fortress we got last year, a few community maps and a few cosmetics, and the old maps enabled.
imagine when that train of thoughts will seem like fantasy and over demanding. Just like when we kept getting reskin weapons years ago and it seemed outrageous yet reskins at all nowadays are long gone (and i'm not talking about the decorated weapons)
