Heavy doesn't take too kindly to babies.
What are the odds that the 9/6 date dane-o saw is just another "Community maps are going to have a due date is soon"/big change is soon blogpost I wonder what they'll change. My money's on either the Mann Co. Catalog or crafting.
I would expect at least a blog post tomorrow. I can't think of any reason why the TF Team would put something like that on the calendar if they didn't have anything planned for that day. Wild conspiracy theories indicate that it may have been a secret test of character of some sort for Dane, but if that were the case, is the TF Team really so tone deaf as to think that the community will tolerate borderline cruel teases like that right now? I highly doubt it. I have my fingers crossed for a day 1 blog post today and a day 2 blog post, alongside with the update releasing proper, tomorrow. In any case I'd be extremely surprised if we saw nothing tomorrow, and honestly probably a little bit agitated.
Don't expect anything tomorrow.

I think the announcement blog post will be posted in Wednesday.
Don't expect anything tomorrow.
What if I'm expecting disappointment?
I dont know, 3 weeks ago previous and this week looked like a week that the update might arrive but it didnt arrive last week and this week looks pretty much done too. I think we have to wait another week. :ohno:
What? This week is literally just beginning. It couldn't possibly have been announced yesterday as it was a federal holiday in the United States. This is the first day anything could possibly happen.
Depends of what do you mean by released. I think the announcement blog post will be posted in Wednesday.
If it's the start of a multi-day update, then that counts. If it's a blog post saying "The Pyro update will be arriving Thursday!" then that doesn't count.
Add me to the list of people that played/saw the pyro update in a dream.
I have had an uncountable number of dreams that it comes out and I start work on the video. Every time the update gets crazier, and every time I wake up I get more depressed. [editline]5th September 2017[/editline]
Oh hey, those are my tweets! Fuzzy is my new name, I apologize for any confusion since I'm posting from an old alias, but those are definitely mine. Me and Void went to Valve for an informal visit of sorts. I can try to elaborate, but it was more or less your standard Valve tour, Eric happened to be the guy to show us around. As brief as I can put it: Me and Void have visited Valve in the past- Once on a tour a few years back, and one other time having lunch with Dave And Eric while TI5 was a thing since we were all in the area. While we've visited Valve/select tf2 team members in the past with bigger groups of people, this is the first time that Void and I have really sat down one-on-one (one-on-two?) with Eric himself. It was a very positive, eye-opening experience. Honestly, it was just a really chill time. Best way I could put it was that we were three people who love tf2, having fun talking about the game and how development goes not only on their part, but how the community does things, too. I don't know how much I can say or -should- say, but like I said in those tweets, it was very reassuring that tf2 ain't goin nowhere anytime soon. At least from what I could gather from Eric, anyway. After the main tour ended was when all the chatting happened. Eric offered us a drink from the main lunch room, we all grabbed a table, and got whisked away with our thoughts. Eric told us that him and the rest of the team have been learning so much from community feedback, both from all the good people have to say, and the bad. No matter what it is, they always try to read everything people are saying; from the passion of all Eric had to say, I have a good feeling that the next update will be an enjoyable one. They really hope you all enjoy it, too. I may be forgetting a few points since I'm still very frazzled that we got to sit with Eric personally and for so long, so if anything comes up from you all (and within reason!) I'll try my best to fill any blanks. I feel like I'm also making this all a lot longer than it should! It's just been a very busy PAX weekend besides all of this too, forgive me for any spelling/grammar mistakes ahead of time. As of now though, this is all I have to say. From the tweets I made and from all of this writing, I hope it quells any fears people may have that the tf2 team doesn't care. From all that I've seen and heard today, the team is very tight-knit. The fact that some are in the building even though it's Labor Day solidifies the passion they have for this game too, I think. That's just me, though!
Dave responded to an email from me on friggin todayberday.
Honesty I just don't understand why we aren't getting a yearly MVM update with 3 or 4 community maps. Have the Valve artists whip up a new set of Australiums and bot killers, put out special tour of duty tickets for the event that give Australiums and some bot killers drops an exclusive unusual effect for the duration of the event and pay out a portion of that to pay the map makers. I would also update the squad surplus voucher drop table to make it possible to earn strange parts, and maybe some exclusive weapon skins/bot killers. Maybe even make it possible to earn any hat with a couple of exclusive unusual effects as a very rare drop. It just feels like Valve is missing out on a real easy way to make money with all the community made MVM maps and missions.
I'd figure the reason we haven't gotten community MvM is high expectations. If a possible update can be summarized as more of the same with different rewards, I can’t see it happening. What I’d expect to make the cut is maps with fun and interesting gameplay/teamplay. It’s one thing to make a level that works, but providing a unique and rewarding experience takes it to a whole new level. Now, there might be some good candidates out there after the recent MvM contest at TF2maps. I haven’t gotten to trying many, but there are some promising ones in the batch. It's difficult to tell which ones have the potential until you see them in action.
If it's the start of a multi-day update, then that counts. If it's a blog post saying "The Pyro update will be arriving Thursday!" then that doesn't count.
What if we get a Day 1 today, day 2 tomorrow and day 3 + release on thursday? There is a big difference between the release of the blog post and release of the Update itself, for I mainly expect a Blog Post on wednesday.
Wild conspiracy theories indicate that it may have been a secret test of character of some sort for Dane, but if that were the case, is the TF Team really so tone deaf as to think that the community will tolerate borderline cruel teases like that right now? I highly doubt it.
Very much doubt this. Dane was invited to Valve in their new offices next year via Eric yesterday.
Their latest blog post was as shit-post as they come. I honestly feel if the Dev team has time to shit post on the official blog then this Update has to be in it's final phases to warrant a release no later then the first half of September, but that's just my opinion on it.
-snip-
what i keep thinking back to is, assuming the team didnt put that date on a whiteboard to mess with dane, why else would it be there? surely something is going to happen tomorrow. if not, i will be truly lost.
Hope update is tonight, even though I'll spend all night programming. ...Hope
It's a multi day update, I feel like that's not even questionable at this point. So you can hope for the blogpost, but don't expect an update release until thursday minimum.
In any case I'd be extremely surprised if we saw nothing tomorrow, and honestly probably a little bit agitated.
I wonder what it would be like for you walk into the crucifixion of Uncle Dane with that attitude..

Great, now I feel a bit hyped for the Pyro update happening tomorrow, and since Panic Attack is gonna be reworked from the ground up, brb playing a bunch of TF2 for footage.
It's a multi day update, I feel like that's not even questionable at this point. This is going to be one of, if not the the biggest update tf2 has ever gotten period.
A lot of people forget this. This is going to be one of, if not the the biggest update tf2 has ever gotten period.
Biggest and probably busted-est update.
A lot of people forget this. This is going to be one of, if not the the biggest update tf2 has ever gotten period.
I'd be surprised if it's MvM, Uber or even Mannconomy big.
The update sounds like a holy entity to me as of now: it will fix everything and after the update TF2 will be fresh as ever and we can go for another 20 years! No, of course it won't go like that. Just expect the update to fix a lot of stuff, and some new stuff and done we are. If you wonder why you aren't having 10x the fun after the update you have to realise only that much can happen in an update.
I'd be surprised if it's MvM, Uber or even Mannconomy big.
I couldn't care less how big it is, I just want it to be good.
BREAKING NEWS: Valve employee Jeff Barnett (JeepBarrnet) has come out and denied/told off Dane's GoT TF2 Valve theory and has warned about taking people who post that type of stuff seriously. Also Valve wasn't able to move because the other building had some fire code issues, not because they're hard at work with Artifact/TF2/Whatever. It was just some silly speculation, "based off assumptions and simple observation". It's good that they responded to it, but i don't simply think its anything worth mentioning, but thats just my opinion.
You just gave me a fucking heart attack because I assumed they denied 9/6
That's what I thought it was too, I was worried for Dane's safety for a second.
