With every passing day it seems more like the Pyro update and Scream Fortress will collide and become a huge problem.
I don't think it's that much of a stretch. Dane visits Valve, sees a calendar with tomorrow's date marked with the illustration of a Jungle. There's really only a few things that this could mean: *That's the day the update launches *That's the day of the first blog post/a status update blog post *It doesn't mean anything and was an elaborate troll/test of character from the TF Team. Let's take a look at each of those possibilities and their likelihood. *That's the day the update launches Considering the sheer amount of content in this update, this will be, at minimum, a two day update. For this to be the case, a blog post would would need to hit at some point today, and it's only 2PM at Valve right now. There's plenty of time for something to happen. *That's the day of the first blog post if a two-day update, this would be the unveiling of the update to the community, with Thursday as a release day. This is...generally to be expected from Valve, and would not be altogether unsurprising. *There will be a status update blog post Word on the street is the update is nearing completion, and at this point in development I don't think that's empty speculation. One last status update to tide us over before its release would fall in line with the blog posts we've received since the balance change blog post. *It doesn't mean anything and was an elaborate troll/test of character from the TF Team. Possible, but why? Why would they do something like this after over a year without any major content updates? Why would they intentionally leave a red herring out in the open to fuck with Dane, one that could potentially lead to him "leaking" it and driving a content-starved community wild? What's the purpose of that besides kicking the dog and being an asshole? Despite our problems with the TF Team, I'm pretty sure they genuinely care about the game and its players and wouldn't pull a fucking dick move like that for no reason. Of the available possibilities I see, this one looks the least likely to me by far.
Honestly if the date on the white board wasn't the Jungle update or something related to it I would hope Jill would come out and post here or on reddit to let people know that it was unrelated.
If nothing of the update is revealed tomorrow i'd blame the team for letting people get so hyped up. All it would take would be jill to comment "haha no" on a post about the date and then it would be clear to be at most an internal deadline e.g. finishing maps. Although, at this point, if we do get a denial as to the date's meaning, i'd be disappointed that they didn't respond as soon as Dane made the claim. [editline]5th September 2017[/editline]
Honestly if the date on the white board wasn't the Jungle update or something related to it I would hope Jill would come out and post here or on reddit to let people know that it was unrelated.
u
Remember that blog post in June saying that the team "has begun evaluating options in earnest" and that content creators should "strive to get it posted soon"? I doubt it takes two months to choose community content.
And we didn't think it would take 400 days for them only to be "finishing up" now, did we? My point is, never underestimate valve's ability to delay.
I made a video exactly about Nine Six two days ago. I'm gonna just copy what my point was from it. I'm sure that Nine Six is just like an internal date for a map release candidate or something like that.
Are you guys still going to be excited to play when it drops at this point? Idk it will be a little interesting but I am not really excited anymore.
Are you guys still going to be excited to play when it drops at this point? What I want now, more than anything, is for the wait to be over.

Aside from the fact that I highly doubt they put much importance on internal map release schedules, why would it be necessary to write it down on a publicly visible whiteboard of all things, especially when they already know that people are coming to tour their workspace
Well, so much for Day 1. I suppose we can be disappointed when Day 1 doesn't arrive tomorrow.
Why have it written on a whiteboard then? It's something the dev team knows and wrote down to remember it.
Tomorrow is where I'm calling it. If nothing happens tomorrow, then I'm going to be too broken to care about the update anymore. ᵘᶰᵗᶦᶫ ᶦᵗ ᶜᵒᵐᵉˢ ᵒᵘᵗ ᵒᶠ ᶜᵒᵘʳˢᵉ

If it's not out on December 6 or earlier, I'm done. I'll officially assume that there will be no more updates.
How about instead of constantly talking about if its going to come out tomorrow, today, ever at all, you just wait and see? Constantly talking about it is only gonna make the wait feel even longer than it is and nothing of value really comes out of constantly talking about when you think it will come out. There's plenty of other things to talk about besides WHEN it comes out, such as what balance changes you want, what the new weapons might be, what kind of maps you'd like, how you think the new contracts will work, cosmetics you'd like to see added, what sort of reworks the pyro will get, etc. There's so much more to speculate besides pointless optimism or pessimism about when the update is gonna come out.
That would be fantastic advice if we weren't fast approaching 430 days since MyM; I'm done speculating, I want the balance changes I've been owed since 2009.

I get the feeling people here are tired of talking about them and want to see what the reality is.
I can't wait for half the tf2 community tomorrow to disown valve like they're their parents or something or think of new "boycott" strategies that nobody will go through with.
That would be fantastic advice if we weren't fast approaching 430 days since MyM; I'm done speculating, I want the balance changes I've been owed since 2009.
If you're done speculating then why are you here? Just to complain that it isn't out yet? It sucks, thats for sure, but sitting around and constantly reminding everyone about how it isn't out yet is as about as productive as eating shit for a living (not at all). I can understand your impatience and frustration at this point, but posting about how its not out yet and how you're disappointed about that constantly gets absolutely nowhere, the update isn't going to come out any faster, and the only thing anyone gets out of it is the occasional free item from bets about when it's coming out. And if there really is nothing to talk about, then why even talk? This thread isn't going to go anywhere, instead of filling up the time and your post count with pointless complaints, why not do something else and let the people that have something to talk about talk? Surely talking about how the update isn't out yet over and over again is just as tiring as speculating about the actual update itself at this point, if that is how you really feel.
in a complete change of theme, given that in a month or so tf2 hits 10 years what is your fondest memory of the game? asuming you've been here for a while, how has tf2 been part of your life?
what is your fondest memory of the game?
All those times Valve released major updates adding new content to the game.
in a complete change of theme, given tha in a month or so tf2 hits 10 years what is your fondest memory of the game?
Honestly, just update hype. MvM. Uber Update. Pyromania. I remember the days leading up to each of these like it was yesterday. Those were such simpler times.
what is your fondest memory of the game? asuming you've been here for a while, how has tf2 been part of your life?
TF2Center lobby, maybe like 2 years ago, Highlander Medic, Badwater. Getting complimented at the end of the match for being a decent Medic.
So I'm a little murky about how exactly the panic attack will work.
50% faster switch speed 50% more pellets 30% less damage Fires a wide, fixed shot pattern (regardless of server settings) Shot pattern grows with successive shots (e.g. while holding down the attack button), but resets after you stop firing or reload Spy
Do you guys think the panic attack will start with a wide shot with your first shot, or that it will start out with normal spread and only become wide after you've taken a shot? I'm inclined to think it's the former, but it seems a bit ambiguous, since the spread increases as you fire. Also, would the spread reset as soon as you stop firing for a split second? If so, a macro could make it so you never increase spread with a negligible reduction in firing speed.

It's how I choose to cope, even though I realize by now that no amount of complaining or well-worded suggestions will ever change how Valve--an immovable force--functions.
in a complete change of theme, given that in a month or so tf2 hits 10 years what is your fondest memory of the game? asuming you've been here for a while, how has tf2 been part of your life?
Back in 2010 when Heavy had throwable Sandviches he could consume for 150 HP--enabling him to be sustainable on roaming offense without being tethered to a Medic--and when he had a weapon that shut many classes down completely, rather than having it be the other way around (where every class has some unlock that shuts Heavy down completely).

I'm still friends with many of those people, and actually live with one of them today. When TF2 went Free to Play, everyone started playing it, but due to my living situation and not having an adequate machine...I wasn't able to play TF2 for quite a while. Once I was able to, I was getting like 20 fps on a good day, but I was still having a blast playing with my friends. Since they had all gotten a head start on me by a year or more, it took a lot of grinding and practice to be able to play with them at all. Learning to stand on equal footing with them was a very fun and rewarding experience, and once I had, we'd have four+ hour-long sessions into hot summer nights...it was great. Unfortunately, those friends have since moved on from TF2, so I don't get much of that anymore. Competitive play reignited some of that fire, to be sure, and it's still the form of TF2 I enjoy playing the most, but nothing is ever gonna beat those hot summer nights for me. As far as being a part of my life...TF2 introduced me to a lot of truly wonderful, enriching people. Many of my best friends come from this community, and I'll always treasure some of the connections I've made through this game.

The same demoknight ran into my sentry 4 times, granting me my first domination and achievement that led me to aquire my Ghostly Gibus.

I deal badly with stress, especially in competitions, but shooting bots was so fun, providing enough of a challenge and letting work on our mistakes. When Two Cities hit, it was so amazing - i couldn't get enough of that shield and reviving people felt so good. I felt as a real credit to team, and even more so - doing something genuinely good. Then he got tired of TF2, one of l reasons were the fact that we live very far from each other and one of us always experienced insane ping, so he stopped playing it. Me too. After some time i got back, requalified from Medic to Demo, and now more and more rarely get into the game to score some frags, scoff at omnipresent soldier shitheads, and leave frustrated and let down, spending more time to discuss dim future of the game I don't even truly play anymore at forums

[t]https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/1/1b/Granarysecondchutehallway.jpg?t=20110323235554[/t] If you set everything up right you could easily have a very good operating base for your team that had two exits and only one place for spies to get to you. Also I remember thinking you had to push the use button on every door like in Half Life but it was set to the taunt button on the PS3 so for the first 5 minutes or so I ever played TF2 I was taunting at the spawn door as a pyro :v:.
