The 100 posts were really fun to read! Honestly, I'm now okay with MUS going away. I mean, what will be worse? It will basically be the same, now as they named this thread as speculation too. I'm still working on that big post.
I keep stubbornly using the Bison, I've even managed to kill a few people with it. A week or so ago I actually had someone on the opposing team ask over chat who the hell was using a Bison, and after calling myself out, he joined my team next round and was ran around spamming lasers on people. God I miss the old Bison so much, Valve please, at least bump the projectile speed up.
it's hard to use the bison because it used to be such a good weapon; and now it's just another tool to get refined metal with. like literally, it was such a great and fun weapon to use and kills felt so rewarding and then suddenly "lol penetration was a bug sry fellas"

It just seemed weak compared to the shotgun, which had higher damage and didn't fire a slow, avoidable projectile in its optimal range.

I certainly feel sad about MUS being closed down, as it was the main reason I lurked this forum since its first thread. But yeah, the coexistence of MUS and this thread never made much sense, I actually thought this would happen even sooner.
Why would you ever use the bison at all, even pre Nerf? It's got the same range as the RL but far less damage. There's no reason to ever take it out.
Why would you ever use the bison at all, even pre Nerf? It's got the same range as the RL but far less damage. There's no reason to ever take it out.
When kritzed or banner buffed, the upgraded bison was one of the game's better robot killers, as you got beefy damage from penetrating giant hitboxes repeatedly, and the wide projectile made short work of most mobs. I think that's what people are upset about, MvM.
Why would you ever use the bison at all, even pre Nerf? It's got the same range as the RL but far less damage. There's no reason to ever take it out.
Bison is infinitely more difficult to dodge than rockets.

It just seemed weak compared to the shotgun, which had higher damage and didn't fire a slow, avoidable projectile in its optimal range.
The issue with the Bison was that it was best suited for a range that the Rocket Launcher already was best suited for: mid-range. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed pre-nerf Bison, but the only times you'd actively use it were when you actively avoid using your primary in the first place (aside from general mobility). It being a projectile made it way too inconsistent as a finishing tool like the shotguns are and the damage is too low at point blank to be used to avoid self-damage when surprised. It fit an awkward niche that wasn't exactly useful outside of corridors or only against predictable opponents such as robots. Honestly I'd do some rather radical things to both the Cow Mangler and Righteous Bison to give them a greater identity at a mechanics level, but I know many won't agree entirely with what I have to say. I'd make the Cow Mangler into a rocket launcher-strength bison. Effectively making it into a pulse cannon. To compensate for the lack of self-knockback, the alt-fire functions like a jetpack boost in the direction that Soldier is facing at the expense of half of his "ammo" similar to Booster 2.0 from Cave Story in terms of strength. While you won't be able to do typical rocket jumps and bombing runs, you'd be able to do midair jet boosts to rapidly alter your trajectory (at the expense of not being able to deal any damage while flying since you have no more ammo). The Bison itself, I honestly don't know what I would want from it aside from being a decent midrange option, projectiles just don't cut it for that range with the speed that it has. I'd consider making it hitscan with a unique tracer similar to the Machina. Basically like firing a shotgun slug in other games: superior accuracy/tight spread for better mid-range damage, but less damage overall to make it weaker in close quarters.
I think the update will launch when the new Steam UI launches. Why?: The new Steam UI features a new library system where it'll put games to the front that your friends are playing, that you've recently played, and games which have had a major update or event going on. If Valve releases both the update and the new Steam UI at the same time, that means that TF2 would be front and center in people's libraries when the update comes out. If anyone's confused, think of the new system as the resume and explore tab in Big Picture Mode. [t]http://i.imgur.com/bUWo4eg.png[/t] Here you can see that there's a continue playing tab, and a just updated tab. People will see TF2 in the Just Updated tab, potentially bringing in people to play the game.

I still don't really see there being any correlation between the Steam UI shipment and the TF2 update shipment.
I guess it's vaguely possible they could release the update along with the beta of the new UI. In the VNN interview with Valve, Chris Boyd said their plan was to release it in a Steam client beta this summer. But there's been very little word on it since and Valve time is a thing. I doubt it'll be fully released before the end of the year.
If I put a stat clock on a strange that already has kills, will the clock update to it's number?
Bison is infinitely more difficult to dodge than rockets.
Bison doesn't have a big ass undodgable aoe explosion.
The TF2 website got updated. Nothing is on it Edit: The page has content now but for a while nothing was there
Why would you ever use the bison at all, even pre Nerf? It's got the same range as the RL but far less damage. There's no reason to ever take it out.
I've heard the reason is is because there was an exploit to it. Apparently if you had extreme laggy connection, you could use the bison to hit players a super amount of times; basically hitting them so many times it could 1 shot a heavy. Valve didnt want that to be exploited in Comp, so they fixed it. I think it had something to do similar to how the pyro's particles are slowed or distorted when laggy as well. So i gues the bison could be used to shutdown a player, or shutdown a pathway for a certain duration of time. which could be why they made it go slow now, to fufill that area denial use it was being abused for. Stills punishes players in it's area denial, but not enough to matter tbh. That's just what i heard though.
Well, the MUS thread has ended and no update came out. Time to pick the winners of my raffle. I used http://www.miniwebtool.com/random-name-picker/ to choose the winners. For the strange festive eyelander: [t]http://i.imgur.com/BDfF852.png[/t] For the strange blast defense: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Jv5hDZ8.png[/t] For the strange coldsnap cap: [t]http://i.imgur.com/i6n3i2K.png[/t] Congratulations to the winners! Add me on steam within 24 hours to claim your prize. Hopefully I won't end up having to do part 2 of the raffle, which is the gun mettle skins should the update not drop by August 1st.
I don't even know how you could buff Bison to valuable and not just some joke loadout. The ability to repeatedly hit the same target was removed due to its lack of consistency and most likely the fact it could bug out and repeatedly hit the player for up to 180+ stacked damage. I want the Bison to useful, and I'm sure many others do too (cuz it's trash right now) but honestly I don't know where you'd start by making it useable. Firstly you gotta think of its use, why would people equip it over the shotgun and banners? What's it strength and weaknesses depending on situation or area? It'd need to be strong enough to get people to equip it over banners and shotguns, but not so brokenly good that it out-right destroys people.
If I put a stat clock on a strange that already has kills, will the clock update to it's number?
You can't put Stat Clocks on strange weapons. You can only put them on non-strange Civilian grade skinned weapons. https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Civilian_Grade_Stat_Clock
I was lucky to be the last tf2 community member to ever post in the mus... Speaking of tf2, though, i like to think that the reason that there is still no update is them discovering a game breaking bug, so they decided to take more time to fix that and release this update shiny and playable from day 1
So it's July 22nd, when they were apparently gonna move offices. Geel bet 200 keys the update would release before then. However, they're apparently moving in September now. The question is, should Geel pay up because the update hasn't been released before the 22nd, or should he only pay if the update still hasn't been released by the time the move actually happens?
