Don't forget some maps of TF2, like goldrush and hoodoo, are complete and awful chokefests. I'm glad the game has improved the quality of the maps with time.
Gold rush is one of my favorite maps, 2 years ago the only server I would play on was a 24/7 gold rush server. Although it's less that I liked the map, and more that I knew everyone that played on that server.

Good community servers, rare and dying out as they may be, are what keep so many players returning to the game. It's fighting against the same people whose proclivities and skill sets you know so well. It's the jibber jabber over all-talk. The funny players. The salty ones. The completely inexplicable ones. The people you love fighting against, and the ones you ate (but loving killing.) Sadly, this is a game asset that grows ever more rare
I just got Australium Balck Box. Now I am torn between keeping it and selling it.
I just got Australium Balck Box. Now I am torn between keeping it and selling it.
keep it until the pyro update in case it's buffed/changed in a good way. or sell it if you think it will be nerfed.
keep it until the pyro update in case it's buffed/changed in a good way. or sell it if you think it will be nerfed.
I think it will drop in price even if it's buffed/changed because people will be selling their stuff asap to buy passes/keys which means they will go for much lower prices It might go up after a while (in case of a buff/change), but knowing tf2 economy i'd suggest to sell it right now
I just got Australium Balck Box.
with Overwatch you could probably put me in a game with entirely AI players and i would probably not notice considering how little people work as a team in that game anyway
Same with any team-dependant game anyway. I still remember the days of BFH, with Machinegunner--only match, we lost 0-49 that day
Weird TF2 fact of the day: It's currently impossible to apply Strange Part: Critical Kills to a Strange Soda Popper.
Weird TF2 fact of the day: It's currently impossible to apply Strange Part: Critical Kills to a Strange Soda Popper.
Remember when Soda Popper was minicrits on demand? Good times, and I mean that genuinely, was a fun gun to use in MVM.
Weird TF2 fact of the day: It's currently impossible to apply Strange Part: Critical Kills to a Strange Soda Popper.
Report it to Valve/Eric. There's always a chance they'll fix it.
Report it to Valve/Eric. There's always a chance they'll fix it.
Just did that, actually. I also thanked him for the recent communication WRT balance changes.
Remember when Soda Popper was minicrits on demand? Good times, and I mean that genuinely, was a fun gun to use in MVM.
yeah and remember how much of an arse it was in PVP? good riddance
Wait, do Collector kits drop? I heard they weere broken along with hat drops, but hats were fixed...
yeah and remember how much of an arse it was in PVP? good riddance
Was it ever even close to the scattergun? The gun-that-shoots-so-many-times-that-you-start-to-wonder-if-it-even-reloads.
So I started playing TF2 a decent amount again, and the servers feel fairly alive. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, I'm simply not sure how 'alive' the game is right now. Alive enough, obviously, but to what extent?

Oh, snap. I heard back from Eric today(!)
Hello Eric It is currently impossible to apply the Strange Part: Critical Kills to a Soda Popper. I assume this is a bug since the weapon can get random critical hits and be crit boosted. If you can fix this, it would be great. I enjoy being a terrible scout.

We'll fix this for one of the coming updates. Thanks. -Eric

Oh, snap. I heard back from Eric today(!)
Oh come on :c. They didn't respond to my bug report. Well done! I wonder if that means a major update or a minor patch.
Oh come on :c. They didn't respond to my bug report. Well done! I wonder if that means a major update or a minor patch.
No worries. Even if he didn't respond, there's always a chance he read it (but that's not always the case). I had a few times where I reported a bug with no response but the bug got fixed in the following update. From my observations, the best time for reporting bugs is shorty after a new update comes out. For some reason this is when Eric gets through his email box.
Oh come on :c. They didn't respond to my bug report. Well done! I wonder if that means a major update or a minor patch.
I wouldn't be surprised if the next update is the Pyro update but you never know there could be a minor patch before the Pyro update.
So, for those who actually play PASS time, do these animations actually play rarely?
So, for those who actually play PASS time, do these animations actually play rarely?
Yup, always for long passes and sometimes steals.
Time to bring the topic of the game's artstyle again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1W8BZPf-N8
Any tips on attacking the last point of a payload map that has a lot of sentry nests?
Any tips on attacking the last point of a payload map that has a lot of sentry nests?
Direct Hit, Stickybombs and Uber. The more you can manage, the better.
Any tips on attacking the last point of a payload map that has a lot of sentry nests?
Hope you have a semi-coordinated team push with one or two ubers. More than likely, cry a lot and hope the other engies are too stupid to help each other or can't position their sentries for shit.
This is a big problem I have with asymmetrical maps. The effort required for a trio of barely competent engies to stall progress is way lower than the effort required to push through them. They don't even need to coordinate beyond not building side-by-side. If they've got even a couple of good combat classes on their team, then the burden of intelligent, coordinated play is severely higher for the attacking team than the defending. It's a lot better now than it was in years past, but it still turns matches into boring meat-grinders too often for my taste.

I'm of the belief that you should be able to counter anything by showing roughly the same amount of skill, even if that means changing class or changing tactics to be better suited for it. Engineers, in many ways, are an antithesis to this, especially as they stack up. With multiple sentry nests or a particularly well-designed one, actual coordination is required to take it down. Engineer stacking on the end of Payload maps, CTF maps and, god forbid, 5CP, slows the game to a fucking crawl and requires way more skill and effort to take down than it does to build up. Engineer-stacking is the single greatest case I've seen for why class limits should be implemented in Casual. Multiple Engineers are not good for game pacing and, imo, the game would feel much better if we simply limited Engineers to 2 in Casual.
