If it isnt this week (see: tomorrow or wednesday), i will be very sad
I hope that the update comes out this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't.
If it isnt this week (see: tomorrow or wednesday), i will be very sad
I think people have been saying this for like a month now.
That's all well and good, but you're thinking too much like a Valve employee already. Work on the core infrastructure of what makes the game a game first, like balance, before focusing on the superfluousness of website improvements. A balanced game is a fun game; an imbalanced game with fancy UI and services is still an imbalanced and infuriating mess. Please keep that in mind if you pursue this and make it a reality. Good luck my friend.
My entire background with TF2 is doing exactly what I described: identifying an area where a valuable service can be made for the community, creating it, and iterating upon it. And I think it's worked out phenomenally, both for myself and for the community. Scrap.tf provides incredibly convenient trading services, along with raffles and auctions. Marketplace.tf provides a safe and secure way to trade with real money. I think you're underestimating the community benefit inherent in Valve-run community services. That said, I'm not actively pursuing a position at Valve. Mainly, I don't think they'd say yes. There are also some interesting questions that would require answers, like what would happen to the economy once I (by necessity) cut myself off from Scrap.tf, Marketplace.tf, and Backpack.tf. It's possible that without my involvement, the economy would completely crumble. It's possible it does better than ever before. Point is, it'd be fun to find out.

Heads up, this is my last post here. After being a part of this community for some time, I just wanted to say that MUS was the best TF2 community to ever exist. I wanted this update to save my interest in TF so badly, but deep down I know the community is so non-existant that the game will never peak to what it was. Valve killed it. With terrible updates, item-tiers, long matchmaking, I've never played a game that wanted me to not play it as much as TF. It's as if the game goes to great leaps to make the player never get a match, or even a item if they pay for it. I've moved onto new things, and I'll always look back at this wonderful forum that made TF2 so special. Ending MUS is the final, final, nail in the coffin for my time with TF. What a shame. You guys were all the best. Whether it be drama or "leaked" content, this forum was very enjoyable to be a part of, and it always felt like family here. But I can no longer support it with TF2 on its last leg and Facepunch staff being so selfish and rude. You guys should just let people enjoy your forum, or everyone will eventually just lost interest and leave. So long, and thanks for all the fish.

MUS "was" not a tf2 community - it still is. The community (even outside MUS) still exists for the game. I won't go to the lengths of explaining how the usual "dae tf2 is dead xd" mindset is stupid since it has been discussed about 30 times already.
Yeah, this thread is basically MUS V38 with how things were going, it's kinda just a title difference at this point. You can enjoy it just the same ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think everyone agrees "tf2 is a dead" is a meaningless dumb statement. But like what would it cost in man hours to pick a few great maps and cosmetics from the workshop every few months and satisfy the community that way, and stop people from just quitting the game? I feel i'm either missing a part of the picture or they don't get how much people are starving for any new content and how much good that would do to the game. Like yeah it's "just maps and cosmetics" but good new maps are the main thing that keeps the game fresh beside new features like a casual mode update.

Good luck on your adventures, indeed I wish the best for ya man, but please don't tell me that a game (which is about to get one of its bigger updates and is, often the #4 most played game on steam) is dead because you don't play it anymore.

How about we change the title to... MUS, but instead "Major Update Speculation thread" its something else :v:
And the shitposters have been scared away, but will probably flood this new section next year, after they forget about all the drama.
If we don't have an update within two weeks, I'm going to piss on my cat. (User was banned for this post ("This is why we can't have nice threads." - Bradyns))

I have a good feeling that its this week. Its been exactly a month since the balance blog post went up. That is enough time for the team to have gathered suggestions. It has also been 1 1/2 Months since the "Get your workshop items in" Blog post. If I had to guess, we will get a count down timer akin to Love & War today or tomorrow that will lead to the blog post. When the timer runs out, the short will be posted. And it will sort of be like a 2/3 Day update thing.
Pretty sure we will see a blog post in the next few hours. Then tomorrow Tyler will post that his email questions have been answered and to expect a video soon.

Like VNN mentioned in one of his videos, the update is still not out, even though we all think it should have been by now.

What I'm trying to say is that in a situation where a team has only limited resources, the most important aspects of development should be prioritized. In a perfect world, we'd have a separate and robust team of people dedicated to game balance, another for economics, and so on. Unfortunately, providence has seen fit to have us make do with Five Guys© Burgers and Fries. As such, a sixth programmer would, ideally, allow the team to facilitate the work flow on those prioritized elements.
Tonight's the night? Hey Jill, gimme that "neato" post.
