I would be cool if they re-introduced the Quickplay system as a new way to browse community servers. Maybe include a little option called 'Legacy' that takes you to the old server browser.
There's already a button that takes you to the old server browser
I think he's talking about quickplay for community servers
Valve News Network mentions the non-stock skins in this time period;
I get that it was an artistic choice to put the whispering at 2:26, but my name's Tyler and I got more than a little spooked :(
Its 4:15 in washington
Its 4:15 in washington
I'm pretty sure that the employees are allowed to stay well into the evening, and some do just for fun. It's most likely not today, and the way things have been going it may not even be close, but I wouldn't ring the meme bell for another 3-4 hours.
Its 4:15 in washington
its 6:26 in texas, whats your point
Its 4:15 in washington
Don't get your hopes up this week, mappers already said that valve havent selected maps on monday. Next week on the other hand seems good again. Unless Crash Crashes the hope again.
Can you elaborate why it is most likely not today?
cause he didn't get his mystical email that he's 100% guaranteed to get from Valve.
its 6:26 in texas, whats your point
Valve is located on the West Coast and the local time is an indicator of when they might be leaving work and therefore not be present to release an update.
Can you elaborate why it is most likely not today?
it's not coming today, because they haven't even put out an update page yet, and they're not going to release an update this big on the same day they announce it it's likely not coming tomorrow either, because friday releases are bad news - either they have to work over the weekend on the inevitable post-update bug fix patch, or worse, the bug fix patch doesn't come out until next week and everyone has to deal with the bugs for a full weekend straight (see: last year's halloween contracts not working)
What would be the point of this weapon, in terms of class balance or game design?
I am not sure it has a place in the main game, but damn do people love it. For balance, the user takes minicrits while flying about. Flight is also no faster than walking.
The thought just occurred to me that if the contracts are the standard 3 months contracts from Gun Mettle and Tough Break we'll likely be getting Pyro/Jungle contracts and Halloween contracts at the same time due to how long it's taking Valve to ship this update.
Valve is located on the West Coast and the local time is an indicator of when they might be leaving work and therefore not be present to release an update.
i get that but i still dont see what his point is, no full time job gets off at 4:25 that i know of, espetially when finishing up a big project, ill bet they have people working to 9-10 everynight
If the TF team cannot even give us a blog post while all go nuts with suffering, then do they really care at all about keeping promises?

It's probably going to be like Scream Fortress 2015 & 2016 where they give us some spooky maps and some spooky cosmetics but without any of the spooky contracts / incentive to play for more then a couple of spooky days. Especially if they have the quality control of the maps from 2016. But who knows, it might even have some more spooky bugs & crashes on the Mac version.
considering the extra effort that's been (apparently) put in to the new contract choose your own adventure stuff i would be surprised if they didn't somehow work out a way to do a little halloween contract campaign to get a little more value out of their work but hey, about 2 months ago i would've said "i'll be surprised if jungles not the first week of july" so who knows at this point
Or the campaign will be shorter. which would suck.

I think they're saying that this year's halloween will be like 2015 and 2016 but without the contracts they had.
Did you even play the 2015 or 2016 Halloween event? Both had contacts. That's how you got the free cosmetic items.
I meant that they would probably go back to the 2014 style of doing free halloween items for this year instead of contracts.
To all you people saying toweek's the week: :stop: We have one piece of actual evidence while everything else is pure conjecture: The update is coming EVENTUALLY. Operating off the one true fact in all this speculation, I see no reason to get hyped or do anything different from your normal TF2 routines until it arrives.
Probably wont be the week until we hear from mappers being contacted by the TF team
Probably wont be the week until we hear from mappers being contacted by the TF team
Mappers most likely wont let you know they have been contacted by Valve. They wont want to spoil what maps are being added.
A reminder: Meet Your Match took like 4 years to complete I think (pretty sure valve announced that they were working on matchmaking around 2-3 years before it came out) and it still turned out insanely buggy. The Pyro/Jungle update has only been in development for slightly over a year now. I'd maybe hope for August, but wouldn't be surprised if it's in September or October.

The difference this time is the TF team is devoting most if not all their time for the Jungle Update

After the negative response to MyM I imagine they've been working quite hard the past year. The update should have honestly been out by now but I don't doubt they've been putting in the effort to get it right this time. There's absolutely NO way the update won't be out by the end of August.
Isn't TF2 like the longest-worked-on game at Valve? It was technically in development for like 7 years since 1999, before it was released in 2007. It's now 2017, so it's been a thing for nearly 18 years! Some players aren't even that old! That's some crazy stuff. I'm not surprised it takes so long for updates to come out sometimes. I feel sorry for any developer at Valve who had to work on it for more than the life cycle of any modern multiplayer game out today. Most devs in other companies move on to new projects. Man, what a game.
