A dedicated guy.

who doesnt he get banned? Id ban the shit out of him immediatly if he came on mine, especialy if he came everyday.
Banning dedicated cheaters is more difficult than one might think. It's trivial to ban a specific Steam ID, and it's easy to ban a given IP. Unfortunately, user's IPs are seldom static and change fairly regularly. Clever users change IP frequently to avoid IP bans. Too many IP bans on a server might block legitimate users. Likewise, it's possible to block an entire /24 block, but that's almost assuredly going to stop people it shouldn't.
Right now on my server there is a user who has caused a huge amount of trouble. I permabanned his main Steam ID and his home IP. He's been making a new account every day and using a VPN to connect from all over the US (which is extra weird because he's in Canada.) I know it's the same users because his hacking behavior is similar but also he has the same spray every time. I can't do too much about blocking him since his VPN has access to a huge number of disparate IPs. The situation has devolved into a user alerting me about a suspiciously good sniper/scout/heavy with a brand new account, me logging in and checking their spray with sm_adminspray (it's always the same image) and then banning that account. It's shit like this that makes being a server admin such a thankless job.
play on the community servers instead of Valve servers
What community servers?

I ban him every time he comes in, the higher up's even IP banned him for awhile, I guess he's just really dedicated.

The TF Team really needs to handle those bots on harvest and get the main creator, nullifiedcat, beaned - atleast the main account. The guy is enjoying all the salt he is getting and even has the bots go after players that votekick/call the bots out alongside of advertising for a discord server.
What a pathetic loser. I really hope the TF Team comes around a solution for this issue.
Oh shit small world, ran into the same guy a month ago, he even posted in the comments in a weird gloating way about his hack.

That's the biggest problem with TF2 Hackers, it's not that there's a lot of them, it's that the ones who survived the LMAObox wipes are super dedicated for some reason.
That's the thing I dont get. why are thoses kids so dedicated to ruign people's fun. like I dont get how using cheats you downloaded for free and probably got malware on your computer make you feel cool. All they achieve is give me a slight feeling of satifaction when I crush them with the ban hammer.
And some of them pay to cheat in a free game...paid to get spywares lol.

I imagine they're dumb enough to pay for more Ransomware

TF2 hackers in a nutshell
I managed to win against hackers a few times in casual if i'm queing with 5 other people, have some sniper mains on my team and half of us go vacc medic. The one thing that's completely impossible to beat though is when they can shoot through walls and spawncamp.
vac should have its crit resistance back as a pasive.
fucking aimbot snipers was the shit with it.
there's a guy on a surf server i regulate who just openly uses lmaobox and nobody cares.
he's been on the server every time i've been on it and nothing's happened to him. He's really chill too.
Why do cheaters always paint themselves to be super trolls? There's more to trolling than just pretending to be an idiot.
-edit- it's over
Here's the thing: steam has all capability to collect system data from user's machine. Why no hardware bans? Too strict?
Overwatch does hardware bans. That'd be a simple solution but I bet it's more complicated than that, but for them it works very well. That's why cheaters are very salty when they are actually banned. On the flip side, that means cheat detection has to be even more precise. Someone banned by mistake or reported by trolls is really screwed.

There are probably ways to get around hardware bans but doing them would probably cut down a significant number of cheaters.

They're screwed anyways, because cases in which VAC was lifted could be counted on fingers of one hand. On the other hand, it will definetly lift the effort threshold to get into the game after getting banned.

Yes, serials can be faked, but the amount of people who can and willing to do that is far lower than of those who can only create new account and reinstall cheats

How long ago was this? Came across someone just like this a few days before that last VAC wave. Australian server and I emailed Valve about their behaviour and their profile mocking the system.
What about an effort where each time we encounter a hacker, we email Valve quoting their SteamID? (Status command in console).
Edit: SteamID to show we care, not for telling Valve who the hackers are.

Unfortunately, that would require valve to blindly trust anyone sending steam id's their way, not a necessarily safe or efficient method to target the cheaters.

I'm just waiting for the day some scripter code injects into other players tf2 to get them flagged for vac bans.

About a month, I did sent a hacker abuse report but not an email.

Oh no, I did not mean for us to tell Valve who the hackers are, lol. I meant that it shows dedication and that we care enough.
The more I see the crazy shit these script kiddies do, it makes me wonder.
What is going through their minds when they use cheats to ruin a game? Crit hacks, spinbot, infinite Phlog taunt to block the payload, etc.
Is making people get angry at you give you some sort of satisfaction? That it makes you feel noticed? If that's their justification, then they are some of the most worthless, pathetic, and downright spineless chumps on planet Earth.
The fact that these script kiddies have to resort to breaking a game in order to get the opposite team upset to make them satisfied just shows how meaningless their lives are. They could be doing something more proactive but I guess using cheats and causing rage is the best thing to ever happen to them.
And the sad part about this, even grown people do this shit. Not talking about teens or young adults. I'm talking guys in their 30s and 40s. That's depressing.
Edit: now, I'm not saying all cheaters do it for salt generation. Some do it to have an easy win like those UGC players who got caught last year. But we have idiots like nullifiedcat who thinks they're hot shit because they use cheats. And on the idle server I go to a lot, I've met plenty of script kiddies over the years. They don't come to win, especially since that place has no objective. They do it for the rage. And once people turn the tables on them, they proceed to act like a raging retard due to the fact their superiority complex just got demolished.

I think is the feeling of being in power. It's almost the same as torturing a poor little cat. They can't do nothing against you and you have their life in your hands.
I wouldn´t say he is wrong, though. But yeah, the comparison is a bit hyperbolic. :v:

Probably because they find the base game boring, and instead of doing what other people do to freshen up the game (e.g. offbeat gamemodes/servers/playstyles or user created content) they find it fun to create mods for the game, with the additional kickback of getting a rise out of people. For people who simply use them it's because the winning part is what they care about most, and will often justify it to themselves - if they're not going all feeding off reactions - with things like "it's a necessary handicap because I'm bad at the game to make it fair" or "everyone hacks anyway".
Not entirely sure why they're playing TF2 at that point, but hey, even paid games have plenty of them so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You don't require a psychology degree to understand half of them just want the reactions and/or easy wins.
The fact that it's also so easy to cheat in this game is outrageous: You download TF2 (free), download cheats from the first site you encounter and you're free to go! You can instantly hop into a game and start cheating. Valve really should make the process harder and discouraging.
really just straight out banning some of the more open cheaters that openly brag out it like nullifiedcat should do enough.
Right now it's just VAC automated and every cheater has nothing to fear because right now, the automated system can't get 'em, but if valve were to do a few manual bans for these big cheaters, imagine the reactions and the feeling of anxiousness generated.

For this, they should have worktime dedicated to it. And since how valve works - that's not happening. In fact, almost everything ends up near the fact that they can't force themselves to do mundane, boring, uncreative, but necessary jobs, because if you told someone for example - "you, go handle hacker kiddies to scare them off" - they'd just roll their table into another office
Off-topic: i'll start it today - what do you think are the chances of it happening today?
