Speaking of the Gentlemann's Collection, what the hell were they thinking by not making a Gambler's Minigun?
Do they understand how much they would have made in nametag sales from people who wanted to call theirs "Russian Roulette"?
no they don't understand because they don't need it. they could secretly shut down and let steam run and they'd still get massive income for a decade
Friends don't let friends use community servers in 2017. There's not a vanilla server to be found for miles
Disagree completely. In 2017, friends meet other friends on all-talk community servers so they can face off and talk (mostly) good natured trash to each other.
Also, what is your definition of "Vanilla"? Stock maps in rotation, including game modes like Payload and 5CP, proper respawn times? Yes, there are precious few, if any, POPULATED community servers set up like that, for reasons I explained above in detail. There are populated community servers that run stock maps, without annoying donor features, weird custom game modes, pony fortress, etc. You will have to dig a bit to find them.
I would feel better about the state of TF2's business model right now if keys weren't 30 fuckin' refined

If your enjoyment of tf2 is gone because you can't idle farm for keys then I feel like you're playing for the wrong reason
Does it really matter though? Maybe I don't care because I don't play this game for worthless cosmetics.

I never said I was having any less fun, it just makes me question the viability of the thing that keeps the game alive (item trading and sales).
Do you think metal devaluing so quickly, at an astronomical rate is good for the game's economy?
The in-game economy was a mistake.
Then again, I'd much rather drop some cash in the marketplace or on keys to get a Plumber's Cap rather than dealing with the trading community, so I guess it all worked out in Valve's favor in the end (even if the majority of community servers are nothing but idle/trade maps on a 24/7 loop, I'm sure that's the kind of gameplay they had in mind when TF2 was conceived).
Just played one of those games where team were even and both sides were doing their best. It was 5CP with multiple pushes from both sides so the game dragged on for a long time. The only annoying thing was those 2 medics who were chaining ubers but we were able to deal with it most of the time. Other than that it was pure enjoyment. I wish games like that happened more often...
The skins in TF2 generally look awful.
The skins in TF2 generally look awful.
I like the ones that aren't a repeating pattern or an obvious re-used texture from a map, but those are usually the most expensive sought after ones.
Like the Coffin Nail skins and in some cases Top Shelf. Skins that a clear time was put into making them, and not just some patterned gift wrap caked around the weapon.
I still love my Warhawk rocket launcher.
I like my Battle Scarred Iron Wood Minigun, looks actually badass due to it being so damaged and scratchy, and the skin itself goes well with it.
Sometimes Battle Scarred can be great with some skins.
Only skin I used is my Butcher Bird Grenade Launcher. The rest of the skins I've gotten have been pretty forgettable.

fuck, competitive matchmaking is such a garbage and a lot of weapons are trash or stupid, it must be because of keys price, duh
Does TF2 have a bad reputation outside of TF2 community sites?
Does TF2 have a bad reputation outside of TF2 community sites?
What i noticed is that outside of tf2 communities hate on tf2 is some sort of a meme, people will use hats or game's age and shit like that as an excuse to hate it
I've noticed it's mostly a respect for TF2 but that the game isn't as good as it use to be.
Does TF2 have a bad reputation outside of TF2 community sites?
I've seen both sides. Some communities like us for our memes and hats etc. Other communities hate us for our constant whining for updates and bickering with Overwatch.
MyM has completely fucked the reputation of TF2 outside of tf2 communities.
For as much shit I give Sniper and Spy they are infinitely more tolerable to play against than McCree's Flashbang, Roadhog's Hook, or Ana's Sleep-dart.
The Sandman, the last true vestige of TF2's stun-lock era is being nerfed to removed it's most aggravating mechanic while OW has multiple examples of disgusting stunlocks.
OW is a game of rock paper scissors, or No-Sell V. No-Sell.
Is it safe to use untradeable robot parts (gonna be tradeable in a week) with a killstreak kit fabricator?
It's safe to do so, but the finished kit will get the trade hold on them as well.
IE, if a part will be tradeable on july 3rd, the kit will be tradeable on july 3rd
Awesome, thank you.
on the note of skins and stuff, i really love the Macabre Web skins
i really hope they eventually decide to throw out some new skins based on existing ones, i'd kill for a Macabre Web rocket launcher or shotgun. i actually did make a mockup of how a rocket launcher one would look before just for the sake of it:

I'm late on the key price issue but I prefer expensive keys, it makes buying keys for trading give you so much more bang for you buck. One key could get you a hat set for like 3 or 4 classes when way back when a key would get you one hat.
Is it just me or when you upgrade the explosive headshot perk in MvM with the Sydney Sleeper it negates the already in-place Jarate on Headshot attribute?
That 2007 vs 2017 TF2 video made it to the top /r/videos on redderp. The comments are full of people who used to play TF2, but no longer do. I read through a bunch of them, and got a fair amount of insight as to why people quit the game. There's a host of reasons, but "it's not as fun as it used to be" is a common thread. Many quit before MyM, but a fairly large group quit BECAUSE of MyM.

Today in one of my games I was doing so well that I got a hacker trying to pretend to be me by changing their username to match mine. Fortunately, people on the server noticed that even faster than I did and kicked the bastard. This is the first time I've seen a hacker in my game in a long time.
Meet the Pyro was disappointing.
Is there still a Facepunch community server up? Or has that gone by the wayside? Excuse me if I missed some stickied thread.
