I don't care if they work on mannpower quality of life fixes in between the update work. I just don't get why it warrants an early update.
The fact this was released now rather than just held for the major update shows it's probably still far away. Unless they want to get irrelevant fixes added early to prevent a larger than necessary file size, but I find that unlikely.
18.6 mb, probably not pushed for small file sizes. We should all be combing through the SteamDB github for any leaks or hints. First update at all in a while, likely to hold something.
Reading now, currently in code :
+ T CTFDuelRequestNotification::FireGameEvent(IGameEvent*)
+ T C_TFGameRules::CanInitiateDuels()
+ T non-virtual thunk to CTFDuelRequestNotification::FireGameEvent(IGameEvent*)
+ T non-virtual thunk to CTFDuelRequestNotification::~CTFDuelRequestNotification()
I will be adding everything I find to this post.
Well, I'm going to start tying my noose. You're all welcome to join me.
The aforementioned update has been released
Theyre having a laugh, arent they?
Someone check through the files. Maybe something got added that hints towards the update
This is actually more worse than i expected. Either they did something that is prepping for larger update or the update isn't due for atleast another 2 weeks.
thanks valve, you gave me a fucking stroke when I tried to queue for another casual match.
This would have been a real nice time pre-release the update cra-
Oh wait, we have to pay $6 to have the chance to earn crates now, right.
maybe theyve pushed this update out now so they can release the jungle update next week without the embarrassment of putting mannpower related patchnotes in the blog post :thinking:
I remember reading predictions that the new update would be pushed back to the 10th anniversary in October. I used to laugh at these, but now I'm genuinely scared because the predictions are getting closer to becoming a reality with each passing day.
Meanwhile everyone is loosing their mind, seeing "New patch: Team Fortress 2 Update Released" everywhere
Im actually getting scared of all the people saying the update wont come out in august
My guess is there are a few people at Valve, whodecided that they're going to develop mannpower independently from the tf team, and they're minding their own business while the rest of them works on the update. Just like pass time, just within the company.

I'm sorry but devoting any kind of manpower[sp]lol[/sp]that could be working on the main game to shit like this is inexcusable.
-snip nothing-
payload map? cp map? naw! it was a Mannpower map all along for the pyro update!
i hope this is a sign it's next week. What does this update mean?!!?? i mean like why???
-snip nothing-
If I'm not mistaken "FireGameEvent" is just code for triggering/starting an event.

It will be in august definitely, but not this week.
We can't say 'definitely' to any date at this point.

Care to tox?
Well, this is interesting timing considering the "big updates" versus "smaller updates but with more disappointment" conversation we were having a page or so ago.
On one hand, a small update shows activity by the team. On the other, well... an update consisting of Mannpower and a couple of fixes is honestly pretty hard to get excited about. Maybe what was said about the TF2 team feeling that bigger updates would have overall less disappointment is a valid stance after all.
It really could come out at any time. The "normal" times for updates are viewed as traditions more by us then the developers. They will take as long as they want because they think the content will speak for itself, and any conversations between now and the release could take time away from work. The two blog posts we got had more to do with helping the team out then anything. The first obviously answered a question they were getting bombarded with from mappers, and the second was to get that ever so valuable "data" regarding the weapon changes. No one knows, and likely, at least for a long time, the TF team didn't know when it would come out either.
For all we know it could be today, and the TF Team just felt like getting the medals, mannpower shit, and random bug fixes in a small update first, like Gun Mettle
Fuck...

What do you mean like Gunmettle?
I'm honestly laughing my ass off, i'm not even mad. It must mean that they had enough time to do some side-work fixes while they were working on Pyro update, and that means it is around the corner this week or next one.
What do you mean like Gunmettle?
I think he means there were small patches leading up to Gun Mettle.
I have a feeling that this will be the first year since 2007 that we have not had a summer update
What do you mean like Gunmettle?
Before Gun Mettle, there was a July 1st update where literally all they did was end the summer sale and localize some store prices.
Protip: If you abandon any and all expectations whatsoever, you'll only feel slightly disappointed when they fuck something up.
