I sure can't wait for the Pass Time update tomorow that just sets my computer into a raging inferno that burns down my house
Servers just went down, looks they released a hotfix
I can forgive them being this quiet about the update but to do a minor mannpower update like this while blueballing us is kinda messed up. I think they're screwing with us at this point
They've been purposefully vexing Half-Life fans for a while, so it's not the first time. Still screwed up, though.

i mean, the update's timing is ridiculous, but really what do you want them to do? community events need their medals to distribute so it'd be unfair to hold those back just for the sake of keeping quiet until jungle, so when they go to add them and they've got a big stack of mannpower balances and bugfixes waiting to be released, would you prefer they hold them back?
realistically speaking i'd think of them as much less responsible developers for intentionally holding back content just to avoid teasing/upsetting people.
Maybe some coders have nothing to do at the moment and the assets are being finalized? Or it was a momentary break. Don't know what implications something like this would bring, but it's a possibility, I suppose.
I feel like the most likely day for the update release is on TF2's Birthday.
I am completely fucking speechless at this amazingly spontaneous yet shamefully typical display of valve's ineptitude and lack of self awareness.
I used to think like this, but only one thing has changed. I've realized it's not a lack of self awareness, because that would actually make it excusible on some level. They are completely aware of their pathetic PR and actively choose to not change anything about it.
If they still haven't forgotten about the email questions like they said then you can all just stop expecting the update anytime soon. If they do end up answering them before the update then you should be waiting for that first.

Well if I remember correctly, one of the questions was "Late June/Early July?", but Valve has already more-or-less answered that. They may answer other questions after the update hits, but that's just a possibility, as it's also likely for your prediction to be true instead.
I swear to god if this update turns out bad im done with valve products besides steam.
You cant count on them to communicate or add to their products after the first year.

How about they sprinkle actual balance changes onto this minor update then, rather than holding them hostage to the release of the jungle update? Your own logic is working against your point here; they have a big stack of balances for the main game that are waiting for release, several of them ready since at least the end of June. If the update containing those changes was going to take this long to complete, why did they expend valuable time on something as unpopular and niche as Mannpower? There's no reason for that, I'm sorry.
If you guys don't like the game anymore, you can always uninstall it! Leave those like me who find any enjoyment in this game behind and move on. Enough with the "dead game" bullshit, no matter who's saying it.
If you don't like something anymore, just stop associating yourself with it! Move on, and find something new. Don't hang around complaining, ruining the fun for those who can still find it. Find something enjoyable to dedicate your time to that's not reminiscing for the "good ol days" of something you used to love.
Some people still find enjoyment in this game, however minor. If you just want to be negative, stop trying to stay. Clearly what you're doing isn't making much of a difference. Let the new blood be, and move on. I'm sure they'd be in your shoes if they joined the game at the same time you did, but they didn't.
Uh, where was the sort of rhetoric you're describing? I never saw that here. I don't hate the game, I adore the game! I don't like its keepers, but I would just love to be proven wrong about them for once.
If today was Tuesday I'd have said there's a slim chance at an announce and release by the end of the week, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
patch inbound
-Fixed a server crash related to sentry rockets in Mannpower mode
thats it folks go home

Yeah, I wish I could find positives in waiting over a year for an update. No criticism allowed though!

well i mean, i cannot speak for the tf team as i'm not in their offices but as they said themselves in their own blog post about balance changes
This is not the complete list of changes. Some items (and classes) are still being worked on, and are not ready for review.
This is a work-in-progress; items may change prior to release.
then you take a look at the email they sent to tyler
"Thanks, Tyler. We’ll investigate.
Haven’t forgotten about your questions. Have been super busy.
Thanks,
Dave"
i'd say it doesn't take a genius to put the available information together and see that they're not "holding the balance changes hostage" as much as they are most likely still playtesting and working on them? shipping "some" of the balance changes while holding others back and working on them would go against the whole "give us feedback" aspect of the balance changes blogpost too
i'm not gonna argue that mannpower changes are a fairly useless use of their time, but i cannot fault valve for pushing changes out to the live game that they deem finished and final balance changes and holding back ones that are undergoing playtesting and tweaks still.
I feel like they are having a fucking laugh at us. I'm just gonna go cry in the corner.
Video incoming, most questions answered.
They are completely aware of their pathetic PR and actively choose to not change anything about it.
But why? Why do they constrain themselves to this shitty model of communication brought about by their dumb, outdated management structure?
Why do they constantly and publicly recognize their stupendous ineptitude with public relations but do nothing to fix it past trying to make things automated (VAC and steam support)?
Does valve hire only complete social misfits?
Do they lack even a modicum of people skills regarding the handling of customer relations?
How could any group of people survive without possessing even the slightest quantity of ambition to not only create a good product but to build a relationship with your consumer base past "buy our thing and use our online service"?

According to b4nny, he had access to that June 20th list for at least a few months before we did, and many of those changes were not only uncontested by the community, but common sense, and should have been made YEARS ago. Are you telling me essentially reverting the Crit-a-Cola to version 1 or removing the Spy's ability to gain cloak back for his DR requires months and months of playtesting?
Video incoming, most questions answered.
What questions? The ones you sent in ages ago?
Video incoming, most questions answered.
including release window???
Video incoming, most questions answered.
like...your magic list of questions answered or something different?
like...your magic list of questions answered or something different?
The questions I sent a while back yes.
VNN's questions before the video comes out:
1. How much pull did the team have in the development of the OST Vinyl? Are the new soundscape and unseen SFM pictures purposeful teasing?
2. Mr. Lombardi stressed Valve's push to Source 2, stating that "Source 2 is the future for every project." Does this apply to TF2?
3. Almost three years have passed since the introduction of the Mann Co. Beta Maps program. What is the status on Asteroid and Cactus Canyon?
4. How far into the future does the team look? How much of a future, in terms of years, do you see for TF2 at this point?
5. Late June/Early July?
6. How does the team divide labor to achieve such high goals? With a smaller team, how do you get the work done?
7. What are the benefits of tiered rarity with cosmetics in crates?
apparently some of those have been answered

Your whole "if you dont like then just dont play it" mentality is stupid. None of us here hate TF2. We hate the lack of communication that the TF2 Team has with us. Of course all of us would be mad when they release a half assed broken update and with the massive amount of aim bots flooding casual. Even if we are critical of the game and how valve handles it, we still enjoy the game at its core. No one here wants to see the game die.
The VNN questions answered? I thought is day would never come.
Maybe they realized they needed to do something since people were unhappy about this update not being Pyro/jungle.
I wonder what the answer to 5 is

Who are you even replying to lmao
All I'm seeing is people pissed at Valve's lack of common sense and general sense of sanity. The game's good, Valve is shite, troll harder.
