When you're a medic, most players in casual mean well, but are mindless gnomes that exist to either be mowed down by your competent friends, or get mowed down by the enemy's competent friends. Its almost as if the game lack a helpful hint (read: persistent reminder) regarding low team damage or no healing, that might help the legion of gibus pyros spies and snipers you're forced to pocket accomplish something.
Yeah, pretty much the only satisfying games i ever play are the ones where there are a few power classes at the top of the scoreboard
The International(Main event) starts today. The people attending will likely have an idea if the TF Team will be there or not, so chances are we'll see rather earlier than later if we should get our hopes up for this week or should just instantly drop them. The fact that CS:GO launched a big Update one day before the International main event kind-off neutralizes the arguments made for the TF Update not launching due to the International, given it launched a day before and during basically have the same effects, apart from, of course, the general attendance of the Teams. Besides, the mannpower update actually broke some things that could need fixing, besides some mannpower-related issues no one cares about, players have been spotted leaving the spawn earlier than anyone else alongside of some other issues. I would love to get conformation on this one, too: A friend of mine played MvM Boot Camp and reported that upon finishing a tour, the game will load maps infinitely until the game crashes, can anyone confirm this?
I belive that tf2 is the first computer game of that defeault engi, that gibus sniper or that clueless pyrovision scout, they dont know how to use a keyboard, let alone get a kill. This infuriates me most of the time, not because Im a tryhard but because the other team is. I just want to play engineer and set the nest up, only to hold myself the entire enemy team, because my team of 12 yeaors olds is trying to know how to shoot their guns. Then I have to go tryhard to kill that spy, that pyro or that heavy+medic combo. I wish people played the fucking tutorial, I did on every new game I got since I was 3 y/o and even then it was the only thing I played because the actual game was too hard for me. I remember playing half life 2 lost coast for the first time and looking at the combine corpses fly all over the place, I played lost coast 5 times in a row only to see the fisics of the world. And when I downloaded the hl2 demo... When I got to ravenholm in the actual game I just got bored of it, thats how much I played the fucking demo... About tf2 I thought it was somekind of f2p counter strike with cartoons instead of cts vs ts. Kids these days doesnt enjoy the games enjoy games anymore, they just want to jump into it and get kills only to get mowed down by some 2k hours dude.
I actually wish they expanded on the tutorial on other vital game mechanics and characters
Not only that but that they also made the tutorial mandatory for those who play the game for the first time.
Not only that but that they also made the tutorial mandatory for those who play the game for the first time.
Plus a hat drop like the gibus for completing it? A new one, not necessarily the gibus itself
Plus a hat drop like the gibus for completing it? A new one, not necessarily the gibus itself
A Mortarboard because hooray, you graduated.
That's true, yes , you're absolutely right. BUT.In this case OW prevents mr.shitposter from enjoying it and he still calls it "great", despite being dissatisfied with it.I was pointing out a flaw in logic, not that someone's opinion is wrong.
You can not like a game and still think it's good. "I don't like it" and "This game is bad" aren't the same thing.
Plus a hat drop like the gibus for completing it? A new one, not necessarily the gibus itself
Or a graduation cap for completing all nine class tutorials
A Mortarboard because hooray, you graduated.
...Mortarboard...? Bet that's the closest thing in TF2 to that
Plus a hat drop like the gibus for completing it? A new one, not necessarily the gibus itself
The idea I came up with some time ago is they need to make a tutorial for each class that teaches all the different mechanics. When you complete a tutorial for a class you get a contract for casual for that class that has you do the things you learned in a real game. When you complete that contract you get something like a non tradable cosmetic or weapon skin for that class. When you complete all 9 class tutorials I would give players a goodie bag of items similar to the Christmas bundle where you get a backpack expanded, a name tag, a description tag, a paint and maybe a couple of weapons. Possibly make a special cosmetic item you get when you complete all 9 trainings to give to players. Even though a tutorial system like this wouldn't directly benefit established players like us I do think it's something Valve should put a high priority on doing. TF2 is not the easiest game to get into and I imagine with a more robust tutorial the game would retain new players better than it currently does.
And as we approach the beginning of the second week of August there is still no sign of the update.
And as we approach the beginning of the second week of August there is still no sign of the update.
But a reply about how they're finishing up on it. Its almost as if all those late august predictions * gasp * might be true 0.0
August? Try September or later; we'll be lucky if we even get it this year.
But a reply about how they're finishing up on it. Its almost as if all those late august predictions * gasp * might be true 0.0
Finishing it =/= Finishing it up
And as we approach the beginning of the second week of August there is still no sign of the update.
You sound like a person who is about to get off work and just stares at the clock waiting for the time to pass. I'd recommend finding something fun to do on the side to keep your mind of the game. This way you can be more productive and have fun instead of just waiting for that update to come out whenever it does. One of the reasons I started working on art lol, well that and to get off gaming and be more productive in general for a hobby.
Probably because I have nothing else to truly look forward to entertainment-wise other than this update.

I've actually not been thinking about (or playing ) tf2 very much in the last few weeks, but the increasingly long wait time for this update has a rather compounding effect. A month ago I was just waiting and content to not think about it because I am really looking forward to the rebalances, I don't really care about new hats or weapons really. But the long and frankly embarrassing delay for this update prompts me to think "wow, it's been along time." My mind is off the game, I know the rebalances are on their way but the 18 months without quality content is both frustrating and comedic.
Probably because I have nothing else to truly look forward to entertainment-wise other than this update.
I am in the exact same position. I now understand your pessimism.
So just to be sure, we shouldn't expect any updates or patches at all this week? Just asking, cause if they happen to release some more bug fixes and whatnot, then maybe there's a small glimmer of hope for something more?

After that we're getting super close to the biggest TF2 tournament of the year, I61 on August 25-28. Will Valve want to do a major shake up of the TF2 meta right before i68 considering how much of a focus they're now putting on competitive TF2? I honestly don't know.
Play a new game or some games that are in your backlog. Trust me, it helped me not transfix on anything Valve related.
Or download some half life/Half life 2 mods to kill some time with
Play a new game or some games that are in your backlog. Trust me, it helped me not transfix on anything Valve related.
What games do you suggest? I'm very particular when it comes to multiplayer shooters.
If they release the update and cannot fix major bugs before I61 that would be bad. They are probably confident they can fix anything in time though.
What games do you suggest? I'm very particular when it comes to multiplayer shooters.
I'm not sure how much it is with everything bundled together now but Payday 2 might be good, it's a good team based shooter in similar play style to Left 4 Dead
i love tf2 way more than i should* and even I can do other stuff and play other games instead of living on a constant state of "update withdrawal"
I play Killing Floor 2 as a supplemental game and even own my own server, but I can't use that as my primary game--I need a fast-paced PvP shooter that rewards skill and allows me to operate relatively independently.

Makes for a good substitute imo.

At this point with no release date, we're better off not even thinking about the game until it actually happens
