Every now and then, you wonder what pyro would be like if the airblast wasn't a teleport-this-projectile-and-make-it-go-where-I'm-looking type deal, and was the more intuitive physics-y thing...

I mean really, the airblast makes sense in some ways, but I often wish for a TF3 if only for a ground-up change and a fresh start to take everything learned from TF2 and have none of the fluff, chintz or sketchy decision making.
I love TF2, but it really feels like I'm abusing game mechanics more than I'm utilising them.
that's more of an issue of how flares and arrows really do begin their travel from behind the user's head
Got bored and wanted to craft a hat.

I don't know if the values are 100% accurate but try this: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=187038852

So I just had a game where I meet (yet another) hacker in casual.
But instead of the usual aimbot he was randomly healing players ridiculous amounts of health and also sending out a message in chat regarding who he healed and how much.

Here you see me being healed, with a message in the chat. Notice that I'm not even on the same team has him. Everyone on the server seemed to get healed once.

now i'm just curious how that's possible, I can see aimbotting or even all crit hacks, but doing something like that should just be impossible, shouldn't it?
Looking at my recently played with list, they have a steam account where they show the code and shit (I think?)

Unfortunately, those are nowhere near.

This exploit/hack is done with the "reset conditions" function that a number of TF2 cheats have. It allows for all sorts of malfeasance, including:
1. The above illustrated ability to massively overheal enemies with the hunstman.
2. Instantly de-cloaking as a spy.
3. Instant removal of debuffs like jarate, marked for death, etc.
4. Instant de-cloak as spy.
5. Instant capturing of control points.
When coupled with the "airstuck" function a number of cheats offer, it's possible to do some spectacularly game breaking things like getting out of spawn during setup, healing a target that is not in your line of site (useful for "heal bots"). Some of this has been patched by Valve fairly recently, but I'm not entirely sure what parts.
Source: I've been a community server admin for the last 3 1/3 years. I spend a fair amount of time researching the state of the art of TF2 to cheats in order to better track the little fucks who use them. It's summer and the hackers are out in force. As of this writing, the two post powerful cheats for TF2 are not currently detected in spite of yesterday's massive VAC ban wave.
I know im late but happy year of update drough

That guy is the most cancerous tf2 youtuber I have ever witnessed
he is capable of making good content yet hes just a broken record at this point with arguments that have started to be more subjective than factual
and anyone telling him exactly that just gets a wet "dont like the content? unsub - I am not ready to take critic"
fug that guy tbh
I feel less antipathy to Zenomite than most. My main objection with him is his headphones that are entiely held together with duck tape. Augh.
Missing from that video's list of problems brought on by MyM (and still not addressed) is this:
The removal of QuickPlay and the addition of no new mechanic to funnel traffic to community servers besides the server browser.
This has been the stake through the heart of most good community servers and the reason that there are virtually none left that run "vanilla" TF2. It is nearly impossible to keep a server with respawn times and a map rotation populated.
Out of all the "modern" TF2 youtubers, Zenomite is certainly my least favorite. His personality is boring, and feels like a watered down arrayseven, I don't like his humor, and his discussion videos feel very misinformed.
Also, his thumbnails are obnoxiously click bait.

well at least the last video title isn't wrong
well at least the last video title isn't wrong
I'm more surprised by the fact that it ISN'T wrong.
If you just look at the numbers TF2 is looking far better than ever before. The Medigun went from a model with 3,040 tris and a single 512x512 texture to 6,486 tris and at least 2 2048x2048 textures (Along with an extra 5 that are the same size for skins). The animations also still have the bones for everything they just renamed it in the weapon model or didn't animate it in the transition to C models. Source also uses DXT compression so every texture that's the same resolution will be the same size. The only time I think Valve actually intended to shrink the file size of the game was the switch from WAV to MP3.
Is the flamethrower in the 2017 version of TF2 higher poly? It would seem that it's lower, since the round parts are way more blocky in 2017 tf2 and the round parts are more round and detailed in 2007 tf2.

Those thumbnails sure are... Fucked up.
Still, one year without an update would mean game over for a lot of other games, yet TF2 keeps going. You gotta admire how this game can survive.
Now I've got to note I wasn't around when MvM released so I don't have a saying in that, could anyone explain it's state on launch?
Very broken, very disappointing. There was a lot of hype for the update but it was released in a state that was just quite frankly embarrassing, I couldn't even join a game of casual or comp for about 4 days after launch.

He's talking about MvM, not MyM.
He's talking about MvM, not MyM.
Oh my bad :v:. I hate acronyms sometimes
I don't think I played much MvM when it first came out, I wasn't too keen when the only rewards were bot head weapons but I played it tons after Two Cities came out, I only ever got one Australian and traded it away, don't even remember what it was.
I do remember everyone being super disappointed it wasn't a mix of RED and BLU team vs the robots like it was implied in the trailer.
But mvm and mym had one thing in common,it took them several updates in order to function correcly.
Mvm was broken at launch tho...
Mvm was broken at launch tho...
hmm no
matchmaker oddities and no-item-server do not constitute as "broken". it was perfectly manageable and these mild issues are to be expected each major update.
Yeah I don't know what you guys are on about mvm being broken. It lacked an expert mode but otherwise didn't suffer from anything every update didn't.
MvM boot camp was where I spent most of my time, that or bot matches, usually in Upwards. When I played actual matches, I preferred ones that were a challenge to beat such as Doomsday and Hightower.
Does anyone think giving new players a non tradeable version of every weapon would be a good idea?
Does anyone think giving new players a non tradeable version of every weapon would be a good idea?
There are more weapons than a F2P backpack has slots, so that would not work
