that's weird as hell
If you click on the titles, though, it brings you to the articles with the text still there.
Someone updated wordpress and it broke the site. News at 11.
PS: Wordpress is a shitty software to keep up-to-date with all constant exploits built against it's old versions.
Wordpress Updates aren't that frequent, though. And they also usually get fixed much faster.
At least wear gloves when grasping at straws, so you don't lose your grip on reality.

Whoa man, that shits deep, deeper than the barrel we're scraping for looking for anything for this update.
Page notifier went off for me again, nothing seems to be different.
Waiting sucks. And these weird happenings with the site aren't helping matters at all. I just want to get off this ride
If nothing happens before or on August 24th that would be a huge bummer.
Aug 24th is the game's anniversary, at this point I think if they're still working on the update, they will release it by then, or try to.

Well Oct 10th is TF2's anniversary, Aug 24th is TF in general.

The problem isn't that there's a deadline for competitive to resurge, the problem is every time valve fucks it up there's more and more people driven away from it. The more time passes, the more people write off TF2 as a dead hat simulator. Then you have people who get so ingrained in the casual side that they get pissy at the thought of the game being competitive. The line divides more and more, valve clearly wants to blur the line more, which is good, but if they fuck up again or don't do enough we'll remain in the same place we are until the day the competitive scene fractions in on itself.

I want to get off Mr. Jills Wild Ride!
I could easily see the update releasing on the day that pyro won the war last year
I still don't get why people are so obsessed with tf2 anniversaries, valve did one anniversary update with hardly any gameplay content 6 years ago and now any time the TF quake, tfc, or tf2 anniversaries roll around people think valve is actively delaying updates for it.

If i recall correctly they even said they had no plans for it.
My guess is people want Valve to pay homage to the legacy of their own game and think releasing the update on the anniversary is the least they could do.
On a completely different note, I've had a lot of people add me over the years because I play medic a lot, but I set my profile to offline when playing so I never end up actually playing with anyone else
I think I may be doing something wrong here

Strangely, a dead hat simulator in the top sellers/played games on steam. Or maybe that's a reflection of steam's shovelware distribution system. Either way, TF2 likely won't ever go effectively dead, as despite valve's continual efforts to ruin it with neglect and botched updates, the core game is basically still the same, and fun.
I can still play the same badwater gunboats soldier I did back in 2011, and it's still just as, if not more fun thanks to new guns and rebalances.
The problem is, there should be a lot more people playing this game, which is representative of how great the game could be if they actually devoted any resources or time to it.
On an update related note, I've seen a lot of people upset over the upcoming cleaver tweak, and honestly I'm okay with it, you won't be able to crit with it anymore, no. But between the reduced range at which the recharge buff kicks in you'll be able to spam them even more often, and at 50 damage plus 40 bleeding over time, that's pretty threatening I'd say.

the cleaver has always been a really strong secondary even without the combo gimmick. it's a long-ranged extra meatshot that's impossible to miss on slow targets like snipers and heavies, it's super obnoxious to fight against because it's barely visible and totally silent until it hits you, and on top of that it's incredibly spammable with zero consequences, so you can just throw one whenever you like and occasionally you'll get a lucky -90 on someone you had no business getting -90 on.
and as someone who's only ever used it without the sandman, the upcoming changes are just a straight buff

It's more of a reflection that the economy is the only thing keeping it afloat as it is. Then you account for how many of those players are trade/idle/server bots and how many are new players who will never open the game again after that day, and you start to realize being high on steam doesn't mean much in the grand scheme.
Essentially, without cosmetics there is very little incentive to continue playing TF2. Server communities are far and few between, gameplay incentives stop once you've used every weapon excluding reskins (even then most weapons wont be worth any time using), there's really no official competitive scene to enjoy. You can call me bias because i've played it for a long time and likely more than your average person, so my burnout shouldn't speak on behalf of the average person. But in my opinion the games needs some stable way to incentivise continued play that doesn't involve the economy. Some of us don't care that much about collecting hats anymore.

The pistol is still better most of the time though. More DPS, you're not completely fucked if you miss a shot.. I think the guillotine after this update will be a balanced sidegrade.

Being unable to hit buildings is enough to put it below the Pistol, regardless of the discrepancies of burst projectile damage vs streamed hitscan damage.

Well, buildings don't matter nearly as much in 6s. But in 1v1 fights, say, at mid, it's far riskier to try to hit the enemy Scout with a guillotine throw than pistol fire.
