TF2 General Chat and Update Speculation Station - One of Several Edition

maybe with the new buff it would be too good to redeploy at will
The changes they want to make to the BASE jumper are too drastic, especially for a weapon that is not overly used.
Just start with the removal of redeploying in the same jump, and see how it plays out. If it needs anything further, it can be tweaked, but doing too much initially has rarely worked out.
There is only so much that TF2 will use of your CPU and GPU. Monitor the usage while you play and you will see that it doesn't use much.
GTX680 SLI here and it sits on mostly high settings at 15% usage on both cards. Sadly only around 120 fps.
Whoops, forgot to do the second part of my raffle. The update didn't come out by August 1st, so here I am doing the second part on the 13th with the update still not out lol

Congrats to the winners. Add me on steam or send me a trade offer.

Anything above 120 fps would be overkill. I can't even tell the difference between 60 and 120.

I have a 120hz monitor and I sure as heck can tell when it dips about 10 fps. Some people have 140hz and I am sure they would love to see every frame they can.
I remember they said they were Finishing up
meaning it was close, funny how that was a week ago.
They never said that.
We're actively trying to finish and ship the update, but I can't be more specific than that.
VNN said "they were finishing up" but these are VNN's words not Valve's.
Come to think of it, you all might want to check that the Windows 10 creators update did not screw over your TF2: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6239-DZCB-8600
Honestly I think the only dates we can truly rule out are August 12th and older.
if it's that bad perhaps you could consider switching classes just like anyone else
I don't think "Switch classes" is a viable argument in balancing discussions, you can use it literally everytime with everything.
Oh, so you think Pyro is broken and does nothing else than airblast? Switch classes lmao
You think your Heavy is too weak? Weapons aren't fun? Switch classes.
In pubs, I shouldn't be denied to play a class.
You came this close to raising an intriguing point.
However, this problem is really easily remedied by playing Spy sneakilyer!!! ughhhh!!!
No seriously, you can invis past a chokepoint, even on dustbowl. Just don't stand in everybody's line of fire, it's usually super concentrated, predictable (they're gonna spam the corner that your teammates turn to get slaughtered) and there's a lot of room to sneak past. Failing with invis, bring a CnD and wait cloaked in a spam-free zone till demos/demos/soldiers/demos start reloading.
And as much as I hate the DR, yes, you can actually still use it to sneak past chokepoints, the nerf doesn't target that ability. You just won't become immortal by constantly uncloaking over ammo boxes.
You can totally still use it, and then have an uncloak the sound of a nuclear explosion and likely die instantly. When one demo starts reloading, the other Soldier starts shooting etc. - on text playing spy sneakily, ughhh, might work but practically is often quite literally impossible. Think of goldrush stage 2 choke - literally no flank-routes.
So. It's weapon that prevents idiots from dying while attempting poorly thought out things like wading into oncoming heavy fire?
Congratulations. You've just made the case for why the nerf is happening.
You know what a choke point is? There is no alternative than wading into heavy fire thanks to excellent map design.
So according to VNNs new Video some "big" people in the Dota 2 community were behind NDAs, so its not too unreasonable to think that they did the same with some of the bigger tf2 community contributors. Just pure speculation.
I hope they stop "balancing" annoying weapons to the ground just to keep their gimmick, with a goal of "not our problem anymore" instead of having a balanced game
Like bfb, natascha, pomson, axtinguisher, caber etc...
Like if you think a weapon is problematic and you did a poor job designing it, either properly balance it with other options or redesign it, don't make yet another useless weapon

They are doing exactly that, though - they completely redesigned some weapons this time.

"We're currently heads-down working on the next update"- this is a direct quote from over 2 weeks ago from a mail. They are propably in late stages of finishing it up. This also doesn't mean anyone has inside information like Doodle996 speculates. This came up with unrelated matter regarding bug i encountered and mailed them about regarding map entity.

the councilman just looks like a poor man's australium ambassador...
The general level of quality of those weapons has become so high, I have no idea how you people are able to pick what's the best.
The general level of those weapons has become so high, I have no idea how you people are able to pick what's the best.
If you think about which weapon has the highest chance of getting in, you can easily make picks. That being said, there are many weapons that won which already area for classes with several replacements. Valve unlikely is to just add another and put stats for it. 3 of the items i voted on ended up on the winner roster, with the 2 payload carts that i even might use later on.

Were you able to fix it?
Were you able to fix it?
No, it requires their intervention and they said they propably look at it later when they are done with the current update. Thats where the line i quoted came along. I didnt post it earlier because it was already common knowledge from VNN video.
the councilman just looks like a poor man's australium ambassador...
I'm not a big fan of highly reflective textures in TF2, but the Councilman looks to be a little more tasteful than Australiums, and decently proportioned for the Engineer. Still comically oversized, but not to the degree of the Ambassador's barrel or the Big Kill's literal comic heritage.

Darn. Were you able to make your map via just not including that feature? Kind of a shame if that one bug keeps you from having your map in the update.
the councilman just looks like a poor man's australium ambassador...
it's fat and for engi. Good enough.
I just love semiotic icons from Alien on EMP cart. And itself overall - would like to see that ingame, even though it's unlikely. But what radiation hazard icon does there?
War Widget, Mercy Killer and Call Man Kit are amazing, but i'm afraid they won't be accepted being too futuristic/modern for TF2.
And of course Bouncing Betty. It's great, but that stock - it looks terrible. Wooden grip with aluminium-like wire construction grafted on top. Eugh. I would be much more glad to solid wood or more complex metal stock.
Yeah, and Councilman is definetly poor man's Australium Ambassador. And if it's for Engineer - it doesn't fit his personality at all. He prefers more pragmatic tools.

The councilman is a nice model but something like this would make more sense as a pistol skin:

I actually told them that i know they are currently working on with the current update, but if they after that have time, could they look into the matter. I have already released 2 jungle themed maps so it's not about those. I'm already looking beyond the current update.
the War Widget looks like a pity prize. it's mediocre at best
While waiting for the jungle pyro update i was messing around with lawbreakers and i have to admit i find the zero g sections where shooting affects your trajectory is fun as hell.

It's so weird that they even acknowledged the Arms race, it's an awesome contest, but , like, look at these fantastic weapon models that probably will never be used.
