The sandman is banned in all formats of competitive aside from valve's halfassed version.

You know, just for the sake of it, here is both a little recap and overview of future events that helps judging if toweek is likely or not.
Future events that are likely to influence the Update:
Insomnia 61 - 25th - 28tH
The biggest TF2 Competitive Tournament of the year. Apart from recommending watching it, since it's super cool, chances are it'll influence the Update. While some argue the TF Team doesn't care about competitive tournies, that theory is quickly debunked by stuff like Bug-fix patches being delayed due to the tourney to avoid possible, gamebreaking bugs.
I personally don't expect them to launch a massive, possibly meta-breaking and gamechanging Update a week before such a large event, which is why, for me, it's either this week, or not August.
Past oddities:
Blog has been acting weirdly the last couple of days. Update and News page were empty, the " , " was missing. These bugs lasted for a couple of days when they were fixed on a weekend.
Interesting dates this week:
Tomorrow, on the 15th, it will be exactly 1 year since the Pyro has officially won the War.
Emails by mappers, hints by streamers: None.

That's the problem with a ton of new hats these days, but gotta pander to the wishes of the 12 year old tf2 community! (fuck this mindset)
Heading back to school tomorrow, I'm sure many other people either are or will be soon. Valve's window to release the update and reinvigorate player numbers is shrinking by the day. Not to mention the fact that tomorrow will mark one entire year since Pyro won Meat vs. Match.
