I'd buy a 20 buck 8 inch action figure that has standard articulation and a couple guns and maybe a hat since it's a TF2 figure. But instead they make either insultingly low quality crap or prohibitively priced tchotchkeis. Gimme a GI Joe not a statue.
You're in luck, they have GI Jane Doe. 6.5 inches is close enough, right?
I own the demo, heavy, soldier, and pyro and I must say the articulation is garbage. Plus the paint is bad.
Unfortunately that quality seems to be expected of $20 figures with the production scale of TF2. Disney scale franchise toys can get good quality at that price point due to how much they can sell. I'm curious about what price point TF2 would need to be at for good quality. My guess would be around $50. Are there any similarly sized fanbases with toy lines? [editline]17th August 2017[/editline] Probably more, since the Portal 2 figures are 90 each at 5 inches. Knowing Good Smile, they'll be of exceptional quality.
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the "Comp Mode Rank Improvements (And What We're Working on Next)" blog post.
Are they really that bad?
They're not great, I've had NECA toys that were a great quality but these were sub-par without a doubt.
Echoing my comments on /r/tf2 WRT the Funko Pop figures, IDGAF about the goofy kawaii proportions. My beef is with the choice of classes. Heavy works, because he's Big Head. Scout and Medic decidedly do not. How TF do they release a "cute" series TF2 toys without including Pyro? It boggles the mind. Likewise, did they skip Demo because we wears an eyepatch? Ugh.
'CTF_harvest'?
This is actually a thing, and it's fuck awful. I have a possibly unpopular opinion about random bullet spread for shotguns, scatterguns etc. Removing random spread is an effective nerf to Heavy. It makes it easier for Scouts, Shotgun Pyros, Soldiers and Engies to meatshot fatty while he's struggling to get past his minigun's accuracy and damage ramp up. Until Valve at least partially un-fucks Giant Man, removal of random spread is a nerf he does not need. I think removing the accuracy ramp up mechanic from all miniguns (and merely saddling them with the 1 second damage ramp up, from the start of spin up time) would be more a more than sufficient nerf. At that point, removing random bullet spread on other hitscan weapons might give tubby a ghost of a chance.
After playing mvm_kelly from the tf2maps.net mvm contest, I am sad that there probably wont be some sort of mini community mvm update on the 21st, which would coincide with the solar eclipse and the anniversary of the Kelly Hopkinsville event. It would've been a beautiful little appetizer while we wait for the big update imo
Are they really that bad?
Not really, the only two big offenders are the Pyro and Spy. Pyro for lack of posability, Spy because his stubble looks weird. In my opinion the best figures from the line are the Heavy and Soldier figures. Both have decent articulation and their paint is pretty good. Are these figures perfect? No. Are they the worst things ever? No. Are they better than Funkos? Yes.
I had a thought, what if they ended up canceling Scream Fortress again this year and just made it the release window for the Pyro/Jungle update instead? At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if the update doesn't come out in September either.

I already mentioned this part from the reply i received from valve regarding a bug: "We’re currently heads-down working on the next update" But i didn't show this, because it was irrelevant at the time but clearly it's coming out very soon. This is now from 3 weeks ago: "...but we should be able to get to this after that ships (and plenty of time before Halloween)". The "this" they talk about is a bug i mailed about to them. My bets on update launch are currently at the last week of august. I think next week we hear something. This is pure speculation though.

Everyone keeps bashing the funko pop figures, but are forgetting that the best figures are the non human ones anyway. The turret, Atlas and P-Body are all fantastic and would make good additions to even a non-funko pop collection of merch, similarly to the other non-human shaped vinyls they make. If anything, I'd collect those. Update Speculation Time: From the competitive side, we've just been given our player honors by UGC for the past few seasons, so probably expect soon some kind of patch/item schema update for adding those medals into the game since its a different design for the current seasons being awarded. They'll probably incorporate that into one of those "internal changes in preparation for future update" patches if history serves us right.

That is very useful intel. Knowing this does kind of start making me warm up towards the last week August with slightly more confidence than usually as of late.
The jump key does give you a full jump, crouching just pulls your legs up so you occupy a smaller space, letting you climb to higher ledges. Being able to release the crouching jump lets you avoid fall damage, avoid being knocked back as far by enemy damage, and stop yourself more quickly when you're airborne with a lot of side momentum near the ground. You're reducing functionality for the sake of intuitiveness. I'd say a far better solution is a decent tutorial that features crouch jumping.
OR you can just do it like left4dead and cs:go and make it so pressing jump automatically does a duckjump anytime with all its benefits instead of relying on an archaic key combo?
Calling it: something update-related WILL happen next week.
Sick of that afirmation tbh
I like how I can uproot my entire life, travel 1500 miles, change car insurance, start living on my own, and get get a new part time job in less time than valve can push out a fucking update.
I did my two last years of highschool, turned eighteen, enrolled for university, joined university, finished my first year of university and the fucking comic is still not done.
I did my two last years of highschool, turned eighteen, enrolled for university, joined university, finished my first year of university and the fucking comic is still not done.
I've gotten 3 fucking degrees and am working on a BSE in the time the comic remains unfinished.
honestly at this point I'm pretty sure they're done with the update and now trying to iron out every bug and glitch they possibly can, possibly by going over the files and play testing every new feature, likely more than once over to make sure that there's not any kinks in the update upon release to make sure this update releases as smoothly as possible
OR you can just do it like left4dead and cs:go and make it so pressing jump automatically does a duckjump anytime with all its benefits instead of relying on an archaic key combo?
his second point mentions the benefits of having the ability to undo the crouching portion instead of always crouching.
It would be almost exactly year after the comic started that I started making games on the side. I've put out 7 so far. I wonder if I manage to release my first sellable one before it's over.
Some people have liked to speculate that they've probably come across a game breaking bug and are trying to fix it. I think it's a pretty valid possibility.
I genuinely can't tell which year is worse 2016 - The year that broke TF2 for half the fucking year (and still not completely fixed) 2017 - The year that literally nothing happened
2016 - The year that broke TF2 for half the fucking year
Lets ignore the fact that it was and is perfectly playable.
Lets ignore the fact that it was and is perfectly playable.
I think it's unfair to say that it broke TF2 for half a year, but I think it's perfectly valid to say that it broke tf2 entirely for a week or so, and we lost a lot of functionality in Valve pubs for months.
August 13, 2013: Release date of Comic part 1 It has been over 4 years, and it still has not concluded - If Valve actually stuck to their schedule of bi-monthly and decided to keep rolling with it, we would be getting issue #25 this month. - If Valve stuck to their bi-monthly schedule and completed issue 7 on-time, the entire series would have been concluded August 2014. We would have been celebrating its 3-year anniversary this month. - TF2 fans somewhere started as a freshman in high school when part 1 was released, and last May/June they got their high school diploma. - TF2 fans somewhere could have had a child when part 1 was released, and that child would now be starting their first week of preschool sometime in the next week or two.
I remember when bi-monthly sounded insane.
Leading shots with projectile weapons never stops being satisfying, I wish there was a projectile shotgun players could get, I've never had consistent results with hitscan weapons in TF2 because of hitreg being weird

Started high school in August of 2013 though I graduated June of this year.
