;50085852']While we're on the subject... how do these fit the mayan theme? ... Just curious...
Even though it is egyptian inspired my thought was that it could work as loot an adventurer would find in an ancient temple. After all there is gold, jewels and snakes in the jungle, too. Since many people have disagreed it will be removed from the collection.
;50085852']While we're on the subject... how do these fit the mayan theme?
I believe that people are interpeting it as a jungle/adventure theme rather than strictly Mayan. The promo video only really shows a jungle with no Mayan architecture. This can cover anything from an African safari to a temple in Borneo. In any case, people seem to be lumping together Mayan, Incan, Aztec, and Olmec designs anyway instead of distinct ancient Central and South American civilizations.
since the last concept I did was surprisingly enough well received, I figured i'd give it another go. The idea was vaguely 'fire god/deity' or something along those lines. I'm actually enjoying working on TF2 stuff again so i may just come out of my little "Hiatus" for a bit longer lol. up for grabs as usual.

tablet is acting up really bad but i tried to do this as best as i could. I'm basically shitting em out at this point.
These are both really cool! I especially like the little ornate sun replacing the pyro's class emblem on their shoulder
About five days into the KOTH map, redid the towers surrounding the capture point, Changed the rollout to support rocket and sticky jumping, both the underpass and the upper bridge connectors are gone to make the layout a bit more simple, and overall worked to make the area tighter and less full of dead space. Health and ammo placements are all good at the moment too.
I submitted the unusual effect: I also started working on this calender thingy yesterday
Also, what would you do with the Calender idea? another unusual effect or something?
Yeah, I just need to make it a bit more interesting :v: I'll probably give it some kind of glow effect or something.
Yeah, I just need to make it a bit more interesting :v: I'll probably give it some kind of glow effect or something.
Could probably work with a shine or glow effect in the centre
-image macro- The unusual effect that I'd actually seek to get is finally here Also, what would you do with the Calender idea? another unusual effect or something?
I'd snip out that image. Image macros are a banable offense
I'd snip out that image. Image macros are a banable offense
And removed. One less meme posted in the world. And that's actually a good thing.
cant believe the amount of unrelated things some people are adding to the mayann collection...please do some research about south american culture, because people at valve will be looking at the project and will say "this people dont know what the heck they are doing".
Added a glowing effect alongside changing the amount and size of coins based upon feedback. Though which one do you all prefer more? I think the rightmost one would work well with coins the size of the leftmost one. What mostly stands out is the coins jumping around, the circling less so.

Crits on this? (should it be more beat-up looking?) http://p3d.in/M68I0 Also should i make it multi class?
Crits on this? (should it be more beat-up looking?) http://p3d.in/M68I0 Also should i make it multi class?
Looks great, but I don't know how this fits into the Mayan theme. And I'd say to make it for some classes, Soldier, medic, sniper and engineer would be my picks as the most suited to the hat.
Old aviator style crusher cap with headphones, intended to fit in by being worn by an explorer (bored ex pilot etc)
In which case make it a fair bit more beat up, maybe a bit of jungle foliage stuck in it, Texture work will want to show off the hat being worn down by the Jungle too, maybe the hat original colour being visible (say brown in this example) and then having some of that being covered by moss for example. Otherwise in my view it does just seem like a unrelated hat that would be shoved into any collection.
Old aviator style crusher cap with headphones, intended to fit in by being worn by an explorer (bored ex pilot etc)
I dont see how a bored ex pilot is representative of Mayan theme at all. Not saying this about solely your item, there have been lots of items, concepts and unusual effects so far that have very little tie to the theme. "What about something like this one thing that has a jungle in the background?" "This item from a character to visited a jungle once" "These disco shoes are themed because disco dancers could of been recruited to go on an expedition to the jungle when they were bored." Mo' thought is mo' better.

Remaking my old Kujang knife for Sniper for the contest. Crits would be appreciated Also something FiveEyes mentioned is that the Snaggletooth pommel should be more rounded out. I liked the flat carved look it has now, wanted some second opinions on that too [t]http://i.imgur.com/PmfeorH.png[/t]
I think the update would've been better with a globetrotting adventure theme instead of centralized in middle/South America. But then people would make basketball items, so it is probably for the best. [editline]7th April 2016[/editline] Also, I don't understand why people are complaining about things not being $100% Maya related. The update page itself broke that theme in its first sentence which mentions the "Amazonian Jungle." The Mayans and Aztecs were in Mexico and the incans were in Peru. Some may argue "but the tf2 universe is different from real life and there was a civilization called the mayanns along the Amazon in their universe." Then who is to say that this fictional society in a fictional world didn't create objects that looked like items made by people in other parts of the real-life world?
Personally I think the theme of lost civilisations would of been better then just the mayans.

Hopefully this update doesn't turn out like EoTL or invasion, if so I will lose my last shred of credibility for the community. This could have the potential of the best update in a long time. I believe in you guys!

I seriously doubt they were ever intended for the collection. EDIT: Holy crap they weren't. That's pretty ridiculous Vlek.
