might be going after the obvious here, but get rid of those AO glitches man!!
Point them out for me. It's been awhile with AO stuff, so I am a bit rusty on that sort of topic.

You really can't just use Blender's AO as-is. You need to get it into some image-editing software and touch it up. The joints are probably the worst offenders from what I can see.

Photoshop, to be exact.
I'm actually using an image-editing software. Photoshop, to be exact.
Then just mess around with it. Smudge, brush, and erase until it looks good (and make sure you constantly reload your texture on your model). The more time and effort you spend manually tweaking your textures, the better. Example that's not perfect, but I hope at least gets my point across: [t]http://i.imgur.com/dM5RLIu.png[/t] (BTW judging from that big light shape on the hip area of the UVs, you have part of the leg mesh clipping inside of the body. Try to avoid that in the future.)
idk that edited one looks pretty weird, you've painted on a lot of heavy shadows where they don't really make sense
idk that edited one looks pretty weird, you've painted on a lot of heavy shadows where they don't really make sense
Not sure if you were talking about the frog, or his Engi clothes.
engy
engy
Ah. [editline]19th April 2016[/editline] AO's fixed. Thank you Emperior Faiz for the help! Now, to continue.
Ah.
I think you really need to go back to the geometry on this. There are a lot of crumpled and twisted polygons, and the proportions are still not quite TF2-ish. Remember that Mayann doesn't have a deadline... take your time to do things right. There is no rush.
I think you really need to go back to the geometry on this.
please, god, don't ignore this advice for the umpteenth time.
please, god, don't ignore this advice for the umpteenth time.
I've actually been listening, and so has the team helping me with this.
I'm happy with how this turned out but didn't want to upload it without asking for opinions first: What do you think ?
SNIP for now.
I don't know why, but I am losing confidence on the frog and I feel really down about it, but part of me wants to keep going...
I don't know why, but I am losing confidence on the frog and I feel really down about it, but part of me wants to keep going...
i think you shouldn't make a frog
i think you shouldn't make a frog
Like that makes me feel any better...
Like that makes me feel any better...
it's not about it making you feel better, it's about realizing that modeling something organic isn't exactly the best step for a beginner.
it's not about it making you feel better, it's about realizing that modeling something organic isn't exactly the best step for a beginner.
I didn't model it alone. And it was an idea I wanted to use for this project. Yes, I need practice. But I at least want this one done, since I thought it was a cool idea. I just wanted to make all of you guys in the community happy, and do something nice.
Yes, I need practice. But I at least want this one done, since I thought it was a cool idea.
Personally, I would wait until I had the experience to tackle an organic model.
Personally, I would wait until I had the experience to tackle an organic model.
Ok, look. I am texturing the damn thing. EmperorFaiz and Retloffel made the model. I am doing my best to make all of you guys happy. Everytime I try to do so with a team, I ether get negatives from EVERYONE or people just hate me for it. If you didn't want me to make it, then don't tag "Winner" on the earlier pictures or at least tell me to give up. Cause right now it feels like a lot of people don't want me to help out with the update.

If you don't want to work that hard, then that's your call.
Put in effort and look at pre-existing items that are similar for texturing references. If you don't want to work that hard, then that's your call.
No, I need to keep going. I started this, and I wont quit.

The frequent updates you've posted had only minor improvements and I think people are starting to feel like the model is progressing slower than it should, people may be losing interest. The potential is still there, you just have to close the gap. your call man. I do like the frog but it's definitely not there yet, just keep at it. Regardless of if you finish it or not, I think you'll have learned valuable stuff so keep your head high, it's all good dude.
No, I need to keep going. I started this, and I wont quit.
Then take time with it and take criticism maturely. And dont constantly post WIP pictures as fast as you can.

Besides that, what do YOU think could be done to make the frog improved? Like, is there any colors, or shading or brushes that you think would be suitable?
Thank you. Besides that, what do YOU think could be done to make the frog improved? Like, is there any colors, or shading or brushes that you think would be suitable?
colors could be a little more drab, even though it's a frog. i think it's too small for brush strokes to matter but on the other hand the red army robin has brush strokes too. but really the model just needs to look less mangled, i think i'm seeing a uv seam somewhere as well.
Thank you. Besides that, what do YOU think could be done to make the frog improved? Like, is there any colors, or shading or brushes that you think would be suitable?
Depends, the model could be better, the texture could be better. The model might be okay, in my experience, a good texture can really sell a model. Just make sure the UV is not limiting you. Note that I'm not a good modeler and I usually rely on textures to redeem myself. My process is bad, so take this with a grain of salt, there's better suited people to guide you. You'll want to get the model right first for sure but here's what I can say about the texture. Right now the colors are really flat, any flat color is going to look wrong. The colors for these types of frogs usually have a lot of variations, contrast is important in making a texture look good. lightness/darkness, color saturation and hue changes are things that should vary across the texture to give you more texture. can't really comment on the model but I'll say this. The silhouette is mostly fine, I don't think it's perfect but it works. If it were me tho, I'd give myself larger back legs so I have space to make the color transition more interesting upon texturing, that's something I'd want to capitalize on.

now that's starting to look like something, really rough around the edges but we're getting somewhere.
