what connection do mayans or jungles have with tf2
Having a big, Aztec Spytech base like the one in Moonraker would fit perfectly with TF2's aesthetic.
You know, it occurred to me that a solid gold, gem-encrusted minigun probably isn't the way to go. You'll want two primary colours, not just one, as well as maybe a minor one for the handles and such. I'd recommend going with dark jade and gold. Part of that's because I think the colours would go well together: you could use gold for the drum, the handle and its attachment, and maybe a bit of decoration on parts of the barrel; and jade as the primary material for the barrel, the Feathered Serpent head on the end, and a couple of other bits of decoration. Then you could maybe use a couple of (aesthetically and culturally appropriate) gemstones on any segments of the minigun that could use some livening up. The other reason why I say jade is because it's distinctly Mayan (or Olmec, I suppose, but that's neither here nor there). Jade was extremely rare for the Mayans, but they considered it a sacred stone far more valuable than gold, it being symbolic of both life and death for them. They would place jade beads in the mouths of their dead, and they would also make elaborate jade funeral masks (also known as "death masks") for the revered upon their deaths, such as with the famous ruler Pacal (http://inside.mines.edu/fs_home/jsneed/courses/LISS.380-83/LISS.381/resources/sites/palenque/imgjmsk/pacal.jpg). Aside from its religious uses, jade was also the hardest known mineral in the Mayan empire and, as such, Mayan craftsmen used jade tools to fashion their intricate creations. As far as precious gems go, I'd say less is more. One larger gem in a well-chosen spot leaves more of an impression than a bunch of gems all over the place. The gems should enhance the design of the minigun, rather than make up for it by distracting from it. I'd recommend using rubies, since they go well with both gold and jade individually, but there are probably a lot of good colours for gems that would nicely complement the minigun. Whoops, I wrote quite a bit more there than I intended, I apologise! I hope this helps you in some way. Anyhow, good luck with the minigun!
I already planned on having 2 primary colors on the gun, which would have been a wooden like texture, and emeralds. I would also add some gold areas and whatnot, as originally planned. I had always planned on only having one type of gem, anyways. Anyways, another thing to consider is that I could also replace emerald/Jade with rubies and sapphires, to match the team colors. That being said, I'm not really sure what a gun made by Mayans would even look like... I dunno. When I looked up jewel encrusted, I saw a lot of gems. I dont know. I still need to think some more about the design.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=725563397&result=1 So, from the last taunt, I decided to make a new one for the Mayann Project
Looks way too rough and unnatural. Noises are also a bit odd.
Hello everyone. About the Melee weapons for the Mayann Community event. What about having a HP on kill mechanic, and increased damage vulnerability when active, as well as some appropriate stuff, say slower swing speed on the clubs?

It's not something we as modellers or concept artists can control.
Stats are made by TFTeam if the item goes into game. It's not something we as modellers or concept artists can control.
Alright. But my suggestion does fit with the theme, right?
Alright. But my suggestion does fit with the theme, right?
It's kind of abstract; weapon mechanics aren't usually themed. It could fit with a lot of things.
So... My texturer hasn't responded within 2 weeks of his original message... So, is anyone available that wants to texture a serpent themed minigun? EDIT: When it's done, of course...
hey guys, koth_occult is done. Fubar out!
CP_CABRAKAN_B3 is now out! Check it out on the workshop! Some quickie images: More on the workshop! Somebody add to workshop collection? Thanks.
The map that i posted few days ago, people didn't really like the name and it caused a lot of controvery, so i ended up renaming the map from chupacabra to cabrakan. So now it's no longer "goat eater" like some people translated the map name instead of the mythical creature. Cabrakan, on the other hand is a mayan mythical mountain god so it's all fine now. We've been having a bit of a dry spell guys. Well hopefully this will get people motivated on this update again. I'm happy to release (and re-release) my set(s) The Grand Gentlemenn of Lethal Talents. Before you ask, the Sniper stuff is being rereleased rather than just updated because of a readjustment of percentages (Which everyone involved was cool with). More details on this is detailed in a slide on the items. Could use all the support I can get.
Amazing job guys! Those SFM posters are phenomenal!
-stuff-
I'd personally suggest not using that paper-y texture overlay on every image for the set. It gives it this kinda gross feel imo, especially the on the HLMV pic. If you still want to use a paper effect i'd suggest adding some weathering to the edges (kinda like how Valve does) and removing the suble overlay in favour of some harsher wear in select places. It's a very minor nitpick I know, but it definitely has a effect on how I personally perceive the items. Others might not feel the same so feel free to disregard.

It does interesting things with the colors of the image and adds a subtle effect that adds interest... However there are artists that tune into these tricks and it triggers a negative response (Kinda like orange and teal colors being overused on movie posters are my trigger) While I still will continue to use the effect on some of my promotions, In the future I will try to do half of my promos without the effect and try other styles... I'm particularly fond of when folks manage to make their SFMs look like oil paintings. ^^

People take issue with that
bayou billy
tbh you could've just updated the sniper set instead of flooding the workshop with items
Not entirely mayann, but just to continue after Ques' releases, I have released the props that been used in most of the promotional artworks on the sfm workshop, in case anyone wants to use them or whatever. Enjoy. Scout might also get a pistol or revolver as well as a machete thing for melee. Love the thunderbuss, by the way I suggested a Black Box Hp on hit type thing for the weapon. Spy could get a revolver and such. Yes no maybe?
So, status update on the project?
So, status update on the project?
I feel like its dying to frontline.
So, status update on the project?
It would be nice if Valve made a blog post saying which, if any of the 4 current TF2 community updates they plan to make official so people can know what to focus on.
So, status update on the project?
Sorry, missed this post! The project is still very much being developed. The SFM movie is nearly finished. There'll be news on the project's status soon!
