I understand working for what you want, but having to get into a cycle of buying to sell to buy to sell to buy is just ludicrous when I'm already offering market price and nobody will sell for that.
You can't tell me that wouldn't be even a little bit frustrating.
If you're getting frustrated over pixels you might need to take a step back from the computer.
Middlemen have enormous purpose in the real world. An average consumer has no need for a metric ton of dog food and asswipes, but a grocery store has the capital to buy that and sell in smaller quantities for consumers. I have no need for a pound of weed, but a dealer can buy that and sell by the gram.

So is Paypal trading. They specifically say any trade done outside of the Steam trading window is against their ToS and done entirely at your own risk. I guess you feel no pity for anyone that has gotten scammed, right? Add Diego, it's time to shut down Steamrep.
The guy did nothing wrong. He, like every other entrepreneur, capitalized on a profitable situation in a marketplace. Valve was out of line in how they punished him.
he broke steam TOS and deserved full punishment for it

It's not exactly unheard of. I mean, look at the forum you're on and what one of its favorite activities is.
Besides, I'm not frustrated by pixels. I'm frustrated by people who insist you're not paying enough pixels for their pixels.

Tell them to eat 3 dicks and remove them. It's not hard.
I can. Sure, he violated steam's TOS, but is that grounds for the destruction of $10,000? When you park in a no parking zone, they don't crush your car. A more appropriate response would have been a permanent ban from the market, and perhaps a temporary one from trading.
That's a bad analogy. He aquired those items in a way that violated the TOS. So it's only logical that they are going to take them away.

If it were a matter of theft, I'd agree. He spent money on those items, and Valve got 15% of all of that money. It's absurd that they'd steal everything he purchased legally, and keep their 15% fee. If you file your taxes incorrectly, the IRS doesn't kick down your door, fuck your wife, and take every cent you own. You get a fine and pay the back taxes. As is the new standard with Steam Support, they acted far too harshly, and it was unjust.
ftfy
Yeah that makes more sense.
It's like the difference between a really good Sniper and someone using a hack. The first is honest and respectable, the second is automated, greedy, and puts everyone else at a huge disadvantage.
Oh, and only one of those two is bannable. Guess which one.
he broke steam TOS in a way that was malicious to other users and deserved full punishment for it
How was it malicious? The user set their price, and he agreed to it, like another trader would have if he didn't. it doesn't matter if it was malicious or not or if he was polite about it, he broke the rules and was punished accordingly
It's the fact that he gained a massive advantage with automation that got Valve's attention and got him into this situation.
If he were just great at spinning items he'd still have them. The problem was that he created the Steam Market equivalent of an aimbot.

He's keeping the price of items for everyone except himself arbitrarily high and earning profit while doing it
He's keeping the price of items for everyone except himself arbitrarily high and earning profit while doing it
He's not effecting the market equilibrium, that's not how things work. Items sell where the marginal cost equals the marginal benefit. Deviations higher are unlikely to sell. Deviations lower will be scooped up quickly. The scooping up process does not affect the value, as the average sale will be where consumers are willing to buy, and sellers are willing to sell.
[t]http://www.geopolitics.us/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Supply-and-Demand-Graph.png[/t]
Where supply meets demand is the market equilibrium. Everything below that on the supply curve is what gets scooped up by watchful buyers, like this man. They're always there, but supply is much lower. Him buying them for prices below market equilibrium does nothing to affect their value. He's just being a frugal participant in the free market.
1v1 me in economics, any one of you. I've got my final on this shit tomorrow at 8 am, and I am not a man with whom to fuck.

Oh beyond a doubt, I would have been cashing out non stop. That may just be because I know enough to fear the inevitable fucking that the long cock of steam support brings, but it was fiscally irresponsible to hoard the purchases like that.
I think the move was more of a warning to all scripters on the market.

I already did economics last semester lel.
This. He obtained the 10k with dishonesty, makes sense for him to lose it. It doesn't matter if he effected the economy or anything of the sort, the obtained $10,000 dishonestly. I feel no pity for him, his punishment was just.
Using Everything's analogy, I think we'd all agree that if I got my Hales Own Sniper Rifle by using aimbot, I didn't deserve a single one of those kills.
The comparison to Mattie doesn't fit. Mattie had no tactical advantage over anyone else in purchasing those items other than having large sums of cash in his bank account, which he worked for. He still had to get those items the old fashioned way, either look for them or offered to him or hell, even given to him for all I know.
Scripts even obliterate Mattie's capabilities in trading. It defeats everyone. It's just down right unfair. It gives almost no chance for anyone attempting the same thing without scripts to do. He did not deserve a cent of that $10,000. I don't care if he lost his money in the process during those purchases. He spent his money with misdeeds and paid the price, no pun intended.
I was more referring to the fact Valve did what they tend to do to users of other advantageous automated tools on their service.
If they ban game tools, spambots, phishbots and the like, why wouldn't they ban market bots too?

Wat.
Why are trades closed for bumping without stock, but not the trades of people who bump and then put in the notes "NOT BUYING NAOOO LOLOL"?
Also, I hate it when you find a trade with a great deal and add the person... only to find out they aren't trading anymore and have been bumping a completed trade.
Pretty much classic "Shit"

i don't see how that can be closed for "unrealistic", who's to say it won't happen? It just will probably take a while.
I'm selling some hats for 1.44 ref and this guy added me to buy one from me.

10:50 - Liquid Fire: Hello
10:51 - Garcia: Hi there mister!
10:51 - Garcia: I want to buy Jingle Belt.
10:51 - Liquid Fire: cool!
10:51 - You have accepted the trade request from choco.
He adds 2 ref to the trade window
10:52 - choco: 0.66c:
10:53 - choco: 0.
10:53 - choco: 0.6
10:53 - Liquid Fire: I charge 1.44 for my hats, sorry
10:53 - choco: then?
10:53 - choco: 1.44+0.66=2ref
10:53 - Liquid Fire: 1.44 = 1 ref + 1 rec + 1 scrap
10:54 - Liquid Fire: So there's 2 scrap to 1.66 and then 1 rec to 2 ref
10:54 - choco: OMG you are discussing about a scrap
10:54 - choco: fuck it C:
10:54 - Liquid Fire: And so are you?
10:54 - choco: I get bvack
10:54 - choco: trade it
10:54 - choco: It's wasting a time to discuss for a "scrap"
10:55 - Liquid Fire: Then why did you do it?
10:55 - choco: I guess that it's wqasting a time in middle of it.
10:55 - choco: TRADE IT NOW.
First he fails at doing simple math and then he's discussing about a scrap while also complaining about it. What a genius.

someone is tripping on their power
That's realistic, shit I'd do that if I have a spare gunboats.
Maybe it'd be too harsh, but I really wish any level of donator would lose their status and privelages for posting unfunny shit like that.
I see it way too often, and what's worse is that it autobumps.
