I have never heard of them. Who are they?
I can't believe the offers this guy is getting
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/15971545
The fact that he's waiting out on offers instead of taking 5 grand cash is ridiculous... I'd sell it before the hype runs out.
I have never heard of them. Who are they?
some old man from sweden made a clan called old boys clan
he had some drama with outpost(still permad from there) and was a huge dick to everyone at OP
he also owns young boys clan
(eww)
The guy accepted the 5.5k offer, what a payday for him. Can't really congratulate the guy who bought it though. I appreciate collections and people who are willing to pay for them, but 5.5k for one item tells me that he has a problem. TF2 is nothing compared to those Dota legacies that are/were going for up to 60k.

the 38k courier's price dropped like a rock thanks to valve fucking over trading the week after
:V
btw, why the fuck is a golden pan worth so much? Surely strange frying grease isn't worth that much
the golden pan comes from playing mvm correct?
I bet its not that rare, just not many people play MVM, let alone have the ticket to actually get it
It'll drop within a month.
the 38k courier's price dropped like a rock thanks to valve fucking over trading the week after
I was told by someone quite knowledgeable that this is a myth/misconception. They could be wrong, but they are one of the richest people in Dota, not to mention they have an extensive experience with trading. I'm not a Dota trade myself so I don't know anything about the sort.

Yeah it drops as an MvM reward, but it is announced game-wide when one drops, similar to how it announces when someone gets a ring.
So it probably is rare, but whether or not it has a limited supply, nobody knows. Right now, it is only one of one, and might stay that way for either a few days or even longer if the initial rush of MvM players drops out.

It's like the golden wrench. I don't think it'll slow down or speed up in how often it drops, I think it's on a timer like the golden wrench and unusuals.
I bet even if a single person plays, they'll still drop just as fast (once a week)(?)
Reason tells me the G.Pans won't be in limited supply. They'll also have a slow drop rate because you're lucky getting an Austrailium weapon to begin with (think they drop at the same rate as the Diamond etc botkillers, but more common than Unusuals) but to top it off, you've got a 1 in 20 chance of getting the Pan (further making it harder to get).
Quoting from the Wiki:
Upon the drop of the first Pans, there is a global announcement over all active updated TF2 clients, similar to the Something Special For Someone Special
So I think it's going to be something like first 100 drops are notifiable but after that? They still drop...just no one outside your match knows.
It'll be infuriatingly stupid if they were capped and couldn't be received after words.
(Expect the guy who paid $5,500 to kick himself in a month or so. Once one drops, hype will take over and the market will be flooded with Austrailium weapons from people farming for the Pan).
Most likely they'll never stop dropping to give a permanent incentive to play mvm
Think about it, it's not like the market will get flooded. In the most optimistic case, a pan drop every 3 days, we'll have a little bit more than 100 a year. Most likely it'll be every week on average, getting it down to 50. More than a rare unusual? Sure. But the demand is also ridiculously higher than an unusual would have, due to the exclusiveness attached to the pan (it gives a global popup when it drops, which should indicate something)
BTW. The Golder Pan seems to be traded to Noir. So, yea. It's probably sold for good 5.500$ pure.
Probably less of a chance. 1/20 would have meant someone before then would have found one. With the global message, they purposely made it rarer than all the Australium weapons.

I think all the drops are notifiable. If it drops once a week, that means only 52 announcements a year. If it were limited quantity, I'm sure they would inform everyone when only ten were left to generate hype.
Again, can't really say for sure since it is all fairly recent. It could drop once a week or twice a week indefinitely. Certainly not enough to lower the demand unless a new update comes around with something more valuable.

The owner of the second golden pan is apparently not selling it. You just got an item worth a couple grand for near nothing and now you're going to pass up the cash. What a wasted opportunity. I understand when people want to keep an item they worked hard to get, but I guess I'm just jealous/frustrated. Too bad for Mattie, he really wanted it.
I guess since this one isn't selling, the other pan's value shouldn't change. Good for that guy I guess, but I doubt it will make up for the 5 grand he wasted.

If he's a youtube partner, his pan will allow him to make some money I think.
He made a somewhat valid choice, too bad anyone with a plugin server can actually make their own videos about it.

I didn't want to have to do this, but it seems that this is beginning to get a little out of hand..
I wouldn't call it wasted. Sure, understandably it was a lot of money and I did take a risk that it would may or may not keep dropping (I was under the assumption that would continue, anyhow) and therefore lower it's price. That's not a concern for me, I mean, the money may have infact been better placed elsewhere, considering how much I could have kept if I were just a little patient, but being the collector that I am, I just wanted to get one and be happy with one, and that was all it was. I'm not intending to trade this off again and definately didn't even buy it for an over-night fame scheme.
The price was a little high, and it was definately a risky transaction, but at the same time, on the same trade, Majine was being offered about $8,000 in unusuals alone, and even someone was offering $2000 as well as a ton of items and one or two collections of his, which easily added up over $5000 conservative there alone.
You probably don't want to hear a bit of my story here (if not skip over this bit) but I've had a job for a year, and each week I'd put a little away in savings, for private and personal use. I decided to congratulate myself on a hard years worth of solid work and savings by spending it on something that I would like, which in this case was the pan.
I don't regret my purchase, and I am well aware by now that I could have spent the money on something else, but at the same time, I'd much rather spend it on something that I have a passion for, and that could have indefinite use, as opposed to an upgrade to a car of sorts, or even some alcohol or a holiday. It's not like by buying this, I'm in a financial crisis or in debt, like a lot of people are assuming.
Just wanted to clear somethings up, tl;dr if you wouldn't like to read my explanation, I'm fully aware how much $5,500 USD is, infact. But with everything taken into consideration, this is what I wanted.

If its something you truly want to keep and cherish, as it will always be the #1 pan..I understand you man.
I sold my hearts toque a long time ago for 11 buds(this was in 2011.), and I REALLY missed it. I grabbed another one in a trade..but the one I love was Warm & Fuzzy. :( I tracked down the guy who had it and offered 1:1(iirc he was a facepuncher). He agreed and I have had it ever since.
I've been offered overpay out the ass for it, but it will never leave my side again. (Tho I have sold Fuzzy's brothers, fuck them. They are inbred and shit)

Reminds me of when I sold my Scorching Tree. I had to do a lot to get it done but I got it and it will never leave my inventory again.
So i just found out bp.tf has changed the price of some weapons to 0.05-0.11
BREAKING NEWS: Some people sell weapons for a scrap each. A more detailed report will be comissioned. More at 11.
[editline]28th November 2013[/editline]
It is such a redundant thing to point out, i don't even understand why you'd bother.
The comments are treating it as if the ambassador has actually had a significant rise in price and become a much rarer weapon, what the hell
I don't understand the people on the site :v:

People are dumb, but I expected weapons to be able to sell for a scrap again since these collector kits came out. This might curb metal production ever so slightly, but that's probably just a pipe-dream. Valve has done too little too late to solve the metal problem.
It's never too late.
They could make the collector sets drop really often.
