I just got 3 within 2 seconds of me bumping my Outpost trades. I'm pretty sure they're checking the most recently updated trades and sending invites to the creators.

If I had modeling skills, I'd make an asshat specifically for unusual traders like these. That'd be 100% themed.
I'm starting to get them from people who aren't even on my friends list. of course i am the most generous mofo around, so why not. edit; then i was thinking how happy this poor sucker would be if i accepted it; sometimes it's good to be good. :p
of course i am the most generous mofo around, so why not. edit; then i was thinking how happy this poor sucker would be if i accepted it; sometimes it's good to be good. :p
so what's the context exactly i don't want to believe that you intentionally fell for a scam because that's just all kinds of why
second picture is an edit, it was reflecting the pov of what that sucker expected to see after he sent me that trade.
second picture is an edit, it was reflecting the pov of what that sucker expected to see after he sent me that trade.
oh the way you typed it made it confusing, like you edited your post with a change of heart or w/e

strong avatar to post content ratio
This shit is getting out of hand: [T]http://i.imgur.com/lswc2Ls.jpg[/T] Not one, but 2 phishing attempts today, there's not a single day i don't get one of these, and all from people outside my friends list. I found how they do it, basically if you add someone to your friends list, even if they don't accept, you can send them a trade, which opens a chat window (that lets you spam them freely). I sent a ticket to steam support for this, let's see what they say.
The more I see this, the more I'm happy I'm taking a Hiatus from trading. Looks like Phishers made Outpost even more unusable.
These fucking phishers. The first guy tried to phish me 2 times with the exact same message, after that I reported him. Then I get a message from him, another phishing attempt: ...and 3 other people that didn't even add me but talked to (well tried) me: What the hell is the first guy trying to accomplish??? It's like he's a bot. I told him off about the phishing thing, and the report hasn't taken effect at all. So he sends me a different spam thing. Jesus, it's fucking stupid, and I got the msg at the same time all those other people added me at like the same exact time. If not bot, extremely stupid and spamming new accounts. Welp, off to report some peeps. Edit: So this is weird. The pyromaniac guy and Deymos are the only ones with private profiles, but IceD and HelixLeigon both have comments. HelixLeigon doesn't have "this dude's a phisher" comments, but I can't add a comment. However the other guy, IceD, has 8.5 pages of "he's a phisher" comments. The 2.5 first pages are full of +reps. They're like zombies, you can see what they were like before they were zombi-fied :C

I looked at one of those links and it's actually hosting a phishing and carding forum on the same server as well. You can buy cardboard to make cards and skimming machines to steal credit card magnetic strips. Really in-depth and really made me think about how much trading is linked to criminal activities...
the phishers are usually bots so of course they wont respond to your messages.
They're hijacked accounts, so, if you put your username and password on these page your account will get "zombi-fied" and will send all these links all over Steam, the proof is that i've created a fake account (and added it to my friend list) and i put the username and password of the fake account on that page, and 6 hours later i noticed that the avatar has been changed, the profile changed to private, the password changed, and received that typical message of "blablabla my friend can't add you blablabla" :v:
You're not meant to give them more accounts unless you know what you're doing. You did the work of a human captcha machine for them, grats.
You're not meant to give them more accounts unless you know what you're doing. You did the work of a human captcha machine for them, grats.
I just made a fake account to see what happens, i was curious.
I just made a fake account to see what happens, i was curious.
Why You are feeding them
Why You are feeding them
It's not just "feeding them" it's an experiment to know what these pages do.
Does this situation deserve any e-mails for steam?
It's not just "feeding them" it's an experiment to know what these pages do.
the pages contain screamers
i'd be interested in seeing a filter added to steam messages. say, you could add a "friend filter" that blocks requests from phish-spammers. like, if steam could detect if an account was spamming the same messages to random people, then it would be tagged as that/
It's not just "feeding them" it's an experiment to know what these pages do.
And... any observations? I'm too lazy to make fake account.
