Egh, don't use backpack.tf as a guide for Unusuals.
backpack.tf is so bad rofl, i remember like a year and a half ago i bought a P energy stove pipe for ~3.5 buds and then sold it for over 4 buds, and then the exact same thing 5 times over again, but they still wouldnt change the price on it from 2.8 buds to 4, the site is so shit that it even makes me mad when people suggests it

Meanwhile the weekly key suggestion of the guy with +700 keys gets accepted.
How do phishing zombies even manage to be original every time I bump a trade on bazaar or outpost? They can be any level, any number of friends, any join date, any inventory, and a different play on "add my friend" with a slightly differently spelled steamcommunity link. They only bother me once and never respond or re-add.

It's really weird that I've stopped using TF2OP for some time because every time I would bump my trade, two added me. There was a day it was going out of hand. Now that I've come back to using TF2OP I have received only one add from these.
What happened recently? Was it getting too obvious?

They use stolen accounts to phish more.

There are countermeasures that valve made like you can't add as many friends per day anymore.

iirc correctly Valve has removed those limits which were no more than 5 an hour.
I just hate how bp.tf is kinda devaluing everything: http://backpack.tf/latest/0
But not the keys ;s; ...
Isn't cos keys are pretty much the only things that are decreasing in number? Everything else is increasing or staying at a near constant level of supply.

No, it's because of the Keylluminati. Damn reptilians.

No, the argument is nobody is using metal. So it becomes worthless so you need more to buy keys
Issue is that's barely the case, and it's a mix of manipulative admins, and people selling/buying ABOVE set price at all times, and people using that to make new prices
Isn't cos keys are pretty much the only things that are decreasing in number? Everything else is increasing or staying at a near constant level of supply.
It's more like metal has just become more and more worthless ontop of key prices in USD rising by around 40 cents since the last 2 years.
I never complained about it a lot but I'm starting to think 8 ref is a bit pricey.
Backpack.tf shouldn't even exist. It's impossible to keep an accurate price chart of all the items in the game. To top it all off, all of the prices have a very small range(or none at all) which makes trading far more time consuming than it should be and item for item trading either doesn't happen or it has to be exactly the BP.TF price or the other person throws a hissy fit.
Here's a comparison of usefulness
Metal: 3 Refined> random hat most likely putting you at a loss of 2.66 and maximum profit is only about 24 ref, if you're REAL lucky and get a cross comm.
Key: 1 key+ 1 crate> 1% chance of an unusual, and other loot depending the crate. Unusuals can be as much as 5000x the amount of key you put into it, given you have godly luck.
Though the main difference is the fact that hats drop, which you can but 2 of for 2.44, then do the same process as metal crafting, thereby not taking any metal out of the economy, but saving yourself a few scrap. The same substitution cannot be done for keys, as the only way to get them is from the store.
You know, it's rather curious. Raising the key prices doesn't make MOST sellers a lot of profit, because they generally buy them for 1-2 scrap more than they sell. Buying at 7.11 and selling at 7.33 nets you the same profit as buying at 8.11 and selling at 8.33. While raising the prices by 1 scrap will net them short term profit. I wouldn't say all key traders are greedy. When prices raise, the people who stick with old prices are going ot run out of stock really, really fast and, because of the prices being raised, can't really buy them at a lower price anymore because that's basically a loss for the people selling them to him. It's not like someone can go to the key farmer and get his stock for his key grocery store, buying keys from the store is always going to be at a loss. It's kind of a broken system. It kills any competition and discourages people from selling at lower prices except when cashing out. You can't really buy keys for 7.66 and sell them for 7.88 anymore even if you wanted to. I'm pretty sure a majority of key traders wouldn't mind since the most profit they make off of prices raising is a few scrap per price raise depending on their stock. It's just who and what causes the prices to raise in the first place? Backpack.tf really doesn't "set" the new high price, they just say "Hey, people are selling keys for a lot, we should raise it to what they are currently selling for." It might just be simply people sell higher than backpack.tf price rather than buy lower than backpack.tf price, which would again net them the short term profit spike of what will probably be at most 200 scrap depending on their stocks when said price spike happens. You also have to consider that metal itself has been falling in value, it's not just "people are chargin me more money for keys!" it's just that metal is actively becoming less and less appealing to own.
If it's because of your average key trader being greedy, keys would've been 8 ref years ago. I'm not sure if it's backpack.tf admins being "corrupt", because what do they really gain from metal being worth less? Your average "super-trader" doesn't care that much for metal and would rather convert them to keys. But now they have to convert more metal to keys so in the long run, would it really be worth it for them?
I'm just wondering why keys suddenly spiked and continued to do that. There has to be a good reason. Can it really just be a sudden realization that metal shouldn't be worth that much?
I remember how I gave up on the key market since a long time ago. When keys were at 4 ref and I got my hands on one I was like "ok, I don't wanna participate on that bullshit", so I sold it for the higher I could at the time and bought some other stuff.
Now to think that I could have doubled its price just by holding onto it, do I regret it? Oh boy, not at all.

Yeah, You double the metal You had. But You still own the same amount of keys. So, You really don't profit.
Metal is garbage. I thought about remaking crafting system to something like Dota2 has. You drop the recipe.
These recipes would work just like current chemistry sets work - You got crafting recipe for special hat/misc (or something other, of course) with some cheap inputs, like few weapons, some metal. Bam. You got a hat. More people will craft, less metal and weapons will be around. people will be crafting because of profit.
I'd completely remade crafting system too. All I'd left are these basics: token making and crafting, metal crafting and smelting, weapons crafting.
I'd also give receipes for weapons unobtainable via system drop, so people could risk with crafting tokens (may be cheaper way, bigger risk of fail) or use ready recipe (more expensive inputs, but You're 100% sure You will get what You want).
What do You think? I personally think *other* Valve games has got very interesting mechanics which would perfectly work in TF2. It's nothing we mess with the game, because we'd get something better which would improve our game rather than break it. And I don't think my idea would break it.
And to do not offtop, because I do not like it, killstreak tryhards are always funny.

Can this guy just get perma'd already? He has multiple bans for misleading trades, yet he still continues to do it each time hes unbanned. I don't know if we have any outpost admins here, but for the love of god man...
edit: I counted, he has 36 fucking trades closed by admins for misleading trades. Why do they put up with him that much if he's refusing to follow standard rules?

because outpost is trash and admins don't give two shit about small rules, only on things they HAVE to deal with (scam/phish)
admins don't give a shit about things that pester other users since they'd rather have that one trader who puts 1 scrap in every trade but trades a lot

Outpost's relationship with the shitlist thread is in a sad state, just compare to the first post. Only Suttles still lurks this thread out of the 4 in the picture, and he's perma'd so it doesn't matter. The shitlisting has moved from how bad traders to how bad everyone who's running Outpost is, with the occasional key bitching.
And yet Bazaar is still getting a fraction of the traffic outpost is. Ughh.
Why is flies such a cherished effect for Sniper?
I know it can't be seen from a distance or whatever, but can't the same be said for effects such as NNB and Eerie orbiting Fire?
I'm confused about it aswell.
I'm from Australia and the only thing I can think of (and is actually the reason I convinced myself it's why it's themed) is that here in Aus, during the summer time or usually in any hot weather, we have a tonne of flies everywhere. I remember when I was back in highschool, my friends and I were walking through some bushes and I saw my friends backpack and it was honestly about 85% covered in flies ... my other friend and I checked our own backpack and we had the same result. We all punched our own backpacks and ran for it ... looking behind me all I saw was a swarm of flies coming towards us.
Which is obviously why the Swagman's Swatter is god-tier for Sniper.
Again I might be wrong, but that's just my theory on why it's favoured on Sniper.

Could have been worse. He could have claimed they were themed...
